Intro
Hurmat Bibi was born and raised in a village north of Hoshiarpur named Aima. She was the daughter of Mirza Jami‘at Baig, and thus MGA’s maternal cousin (See ROR of June-1939). MGA went to Aima many times in his youth. MGA married her in roughly 1853–1856 (see Dard page 38)(and Dr. Basharat Ahmad, page 35). She was the mother of Mirza Sultan Ahmad and Mirza Fazl Ahmad, MGA would call her Pajjay dee ma. MGA officially divorced her in 1892, she seems to have moved out at that point and moved next door with MGA’s cousins. She did not join Ahmadiyyat ever. Her death is unknown. MGA’s brother, Mirza Ghulam Qadir’s wife also had the same exact name. We have also posted some scans which seem to assert that she had mental problems. She had a brother named Mirza Ali Sher Baig, his daughter (izzat bibi) married Hurmat’s son, Mirza Fazl Ahmad, in the 1870’s in a cousin marriage.

Obviously, MGA’s young wife and children all lived in the same house in Qadian. MGA was a lazy and lethargic man who hated working. He barely spent any time with his 2 sons, Mirza Sultan Ahmad and Mirza Fazl Ahmad, his wife thus hated him, since MGA preferred the lazy life.

MGA marries Nusrat Jehan and brings her home to Qadian. She lives in MGA’s house with MGA’s first wife, this lasted for many years.

MGA divorced Hurmat Bibi in-spite in 1892
Hurmat Bibi had sided with her cousins as they opposed MGA marrying a 3rd time, MGA had already married a 2nd wife in 1884, and now he lusted after a niece of his, named Muhammadi Begum. MGA didn’t divorce Hurmat Bibi even though he hadn’t shared a bed with her for over 20 years, nonetheless, he finally divorced her in-spite in 1892 and forced his son, Mirza Fazl Ahmad to divorce his wife, since she had also opposed him, i.e. MGA.

Looking at the amount of work he did I his life and even just looking at the sheer number of books he wrote, he can certainly not be categorized as “lazy”.

But he barely wrote anything, he dictated to his servants, and they wrote. Noorudin came along and became the chief editor/ghost writer.
It’s a shame that you never knew this.
