“Shams ul Hidaya” (1899) by Pir Mehr Ali Shah

Intro
MGA’s confrontation with Pir Mehr Ali Shah started in roughly 1899.  Pir Mehr Ali Shah had a book vs. MGA published in May of 1899.  It was printed at the Mustafa’i Press, Lahore in Ramadan 1317 A.H. Maulawi Nur-ud-Din read a few pages of this book on February 17th, 1900, and wrote a letter to Pir Mihr Ali Shah the next day. It was written in this book that if any one wanted to say anything about this book he must refer to authentic commentaries such as Ibni Jarir and Ibni Kathir and also to the true Hadith or he must base his arguments upon the Holy Quran, which should be acceptable to the great and learned people who are masters of language and rhetorics (page 8). Though the book is written in Urdu, yet the writer has occasionally employed Arabic also to show his learning.  So, Maulawi Nur-ud-Din asked the Pir eleven questions in his letter (see Dard).  But this book, “Shams ul Hidaya” wasn’t totally written by Pir Mehr Ali Shah, in fact, one of the disciples of the Pir wrote much of, and this was admitted to by the Pir himself.  Maulavi Muhammad Ghazi had actually written the book, as Noorudin asked for references, the Pir told Noorudin that he should ask Maulavi Muhammad Ghazi.

April 24th, 1900
Maulawi Abdul Karim wrote a response in the Al-Hakam, dated April 24th, 1900, and pressed Mihr Ali Shah in vain for an answer to the eleven questions put to him (see Dard).

July 9th 1900
Maulawi Sayyid Muhammad Ahsan reminded Mihr Ali Shah and also challenged him to
hold a debate with him about the life or death of Jesusas, the subject of Mihr Ali Shah’s book (see Dard).

On July 20th, 1900
MGA issued an announcement in which he invited Mihr Ali Shah to a contest.  On page 81, Mihr Ali Shah had insinuated that MGA did not know the Quran, so he suggested that a meeting be held at Lahore and forty verses of the Quran should be selected by casting lots. MGA and Mihr Ali Shah should then pray that God might enable the truthful of the two to write in fluent Arabic a commentary of the verses in that very meeting with the help of the Holy Spirit. The commentary should be not less than 43 pages. The parties should have no book with them, nor should there be any assistant. Seven hours should be given for this purpose. The parties should then sign the papers which would be read out to three learned men selected by Mihr Ali Shah. They should neither be the followers of MGA nor of Mihr Ali Shah. These three men should then give their decision under oath as to which of the papers was superior in language as well as in commentary. MGA also said he was prepared to entrust the decision to his enemies like Maulawi Muhammad Husain, Maulawi Abdul Jabbar Ghaznavi and Professor Maulawi Abdullah. This Ishtihar was signed by 20 men as witnesses (see Dard).  MGA gave Pir Mehr Ali Shah a deadline of August 22nd to respond.

July 23rd, 1900
MGA issued an Urdu leaflet (Arba‘in No. 1) on July 23rd, 1900.  He declared that it was not a Mubahala nor was it meant to be a dreadful prophecy for any opponent. He also announced that he would go on publishing leaflets until the limit of 40 was reached or until an opponent came out in good faith in the field of contest (see Dard).

August 25th, 1900
Pir Mehr Ali Shah arrived in Lahore for his contest with MGA, however, MGA was a no-show.

December 7, 1900
MGA invited Pir Mehar ‘Ali Shah to write a quality and in ornate Arabic language, a
commentary on surah al-Fatihah within 70 days. He further elaborated both have 70 days beginning from December 15, 1900. Therefore, MGA wrote an exhaustive commentary in
high flown Arabic on surah al-Fatihah which appeared under the title of I‘jazul-Masih on February 23, 1901.

February 23, 1901
“I’jazul-Masih is published.

March 1901
Pir Mehr Ali Shah responds with Saif-e-Chishtiya’i, in this book, he makes fun of some of the Arabic phrases used in I‘jazul-Masih and alleged that some of the material is plagiarized and
further alleged that the Revelations of the Promised Messiah are no more than confused dreams.  The Pir also made an allegation that the Promised Messiahas had been plagiarizing
from Maqamat-e-Hariri.

While MGA was beefing with Pir Mehr Ali Shah, he stopped making prayers 5 times a day

What does this scan tell us?
As we all know, MGA barely read his prayers, in 1889, while he was in Aligarh, he never went to the local mosque for prayers.  At Qadian, we know that he never led prayers.  MGA’s team of mullahs (age 50 and over) married teenage girls and covered up the lies of MGA’s lifestyle.  We found some additional information which corroborates all of our concerns.  In the scan in the below,  MGA states that he could not pray for two months due to an illness and writing of the tafseer of suratul fateha and admitting to have “leave ” from prayers and started combining the prayers (self admission)and referring to hadees that for maseeh the prayers will be combined, this was during MGA’s beef with Pir Mehr Ali Shah.  This is dated as 14 Feb 1901 and from Malfoozat – page number 446.  This is the same tafseer in which mirza ghulam said that the meaning of the word “Aakhira” means the people who have come in the last time, and it does not mean the life after death!  Later on after 1915, Mirza Mahmud expanded on this idea of MGA and claimed that the word Akhira as occuring in Chapter 2, verse 4.

The background to Hazrat’s entry into the struggle against Qadianism is that during his visit to the Hijaz for Hajj in 1890 AD (1307 A.H.), the chaste atmosphere of the Holy Land had touched him so deeply that he had thought of permanently settling down there. However, Haji Imdad-ullah Muhajir of Makkah had advised him to return home in the following words:

“In the near future, a dangerous and evil movement is likely to raise its head in India, and you are destined to play a key role in combating it. Even if you do nothing actively against this movement, your mere presence in the country would help shield the country’s ulama against its pernicious effects”. The truth of these words was proved barely a year later, i.e., in 1891, when Mirza of Qadian announced his (initial) claim to be the Promised Massiah (Jesus Christ) – an announcement that was to culminate about ten years later in his claim to be a full-fledged prophet of God in his own right.

Two spiritual visions experienced by Hazrat around this time also deserve a mention in this context. According to one of these, quoted in Malfuzat-e-Mihriya, the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) had appeared to Hazrat (R.A) in a dream and had commanded him to effectively refute Mirza of Qadian, who was “tearing to pieces his (i.e., the Prophet’s) ahadith through distortion and misinterpretation”.

According to the other vision, which is described in a manuscript in Hazrat’s own handwriting discovered later in his personal papers, and which occurred when Mirza challenged Hazrat to an open debate in 1900A.D, Hazrat had seen himself seated in a most respectful posture before the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) in his prayer cell, in the manner of a disciple sitting before his Shaikh (spiritual guide), while Mirza of Qadian was sitting a good distance away with his back turned to the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).

Hazrat construed this as a clear indication of Mirza’s defiance of the Prophet’s teachings, and this prompted him to accept Mirza’s challenge for a debate in Lahore. In Hazrat’s celebrated book Saif-e-Chishtiyai (The Chishtia Sword), which Hazrat wrote later in refutation of Qadianism, he has also described a dream which he had seen in his youth, and according to which he had successfully repulsed a sword attack by the one-eyed Dajjal (Antichrist) in three consecutive thrusts. This dream, too, he interpreted as symbolically forecasting his victorious fight against the heretical Qadyani creed later in his life.

Qadyani request to Hazrat (R.A) for support and Hazrat’s response

Hazrat’s first direct contact with the Qadyani movement occurred when Maulvi Abdul Karim of Sialkot, one of Mirza’s followers, sent to Hazrat a copy of Mirza’s published letter of invitation in which he had claimed to be the Promised Messiah and had been assigned by God with the task of reviving the din and working for the ascendancy of Islam. The letter requested Hazrat’s support in this task. In reply, Hazrat wrote that he did not accept Mirza as the “Promised Messiah”, and advised him to continue to confine his activities to the holding of debates with non-Muslims and the propagation of Islam as before, instead of making such odd claims.

Mirza’s challenge to the Mashaikh (spiritual leaders)

Recognizing the powerful influence which the mashaikh wielded on the minds of the Muslims of India in general, Mirza made every possible effort to enlist the backing of some of them for furthering his mission. However, these efforts met with no success whatsoever. In frustration, therefore, he threw out an open challenge to the entire Mashaikh community in the following words in his Ayyam-us-Sulh:

“There is no one under the sun at present who could claim to be my equal. I say to the Muslims openly and without fear: Let all those who lay loud claims to be muhaddith (master of Hadith) and mufassir (commentators of the Quran), who profess to know God, and call themselves Chishti, Naqshbandi, Suharwardi and what not, come before me (if they dare)”.

Hazrat’s book “Shams-ul-Hidayah”

Hazrat Pir Meher Ali Shah Sahib wrote a book titled “ Shams-ul-Hidayah Fi Isbat-e-Hayatul Masih” in 1899. In this book written in the form of questions and answers on the various relevant issued, Hazrat confirmed as unanimous the Muslim belief concerning the raising alive of Jesus Christ to Heaven, in both body and spirit, and his expected future descent in physical person to earth some time before the Day of Judgment. He did so with powerful arguments based on Quran and authentic ahadith. He showed the Qadyani beliefs regarding the “ death “ of Christ on the Cross, and coming of the Masil as the promised messiah (in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad), to be utterly false. In reply to Mirza’s challenge to the country’s mashaikh reproduced above, Hazrat invited him to first explain him the real meanings of the Kalma (Translation: There is No God but Allah, and Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) is Allah’s Messenger) before his challenge would be accepted.

Commotion in Qadian

The strength of Hazrat’s arguments in Shamsul Hidayah, written in scholarly style and language, can be fully appreciated only by the truly learned reader. The book was, therefore acclaimed by ulama of all schools of thought. Among other, Maulvi Abdul Jabbar Ghaznavi, a leading scholar of the Ahl-e-Hadith school, expressed his appreciation in a personal letter addressed to Hazrat. Understandably, the book caused a stir in Qadian, where the preparation of replies to the various points raised in it was taken immediately in hand. In the reply of the above mentioned book, Hazrat Pir Meher Ali Shah Sahib was then asked a dozen counter-questions by Hakim Nurrudin, Mirza’s closest and most trusted associate of his own which were totally unrelated to the main point at issue, viz., the “death” and “life” of Jesus Christ, such as Wahdat-ul-Wajood, Awlia (saints), ilham, Kashf, correctness of ahadith etc.

All the questions were answered in detail with the related Hadith and Quranic verses. At the end of his reply, Hazrat posed just one counter question to Hakim Nurrudin, asking him to explain “the reality of miracles”. This question was, however, never answered.

The aforesaid correspondence was published in the form of a leaflet by Maulana Muhammad Ghazi, senior teacher in the madressah at Golra Sharif, and distributed to ulama in different parts of the country. All ulama paid glowing tributes (both written and oral) to the force of Hazrat’s arguments and the deep learning which they exhibited. The publication of the leaflet led to a widespread demand for Mirza to reply to the questions listed in Hazrat’s Shamsul Hidayah.

Mirza’s challenge to Hazrat for a written debating contest

Nettled by the aforesaid demand, Mirza threw a challenge to Hazrat, in a poster issued on 20 July 1900 and witnessed by twenty persons, to engage in an open debate with him. Curiously, however, the challenge was not for a debate on the specific disputed issue (viz., the “death” of Christ, or on Mirza’s own claims to be the masil of Christ, the Promised Messiah and a zilli nabi, i.e., shadow prophet), but for a contest in the writing of an Arabic language commentary on selected Quranic verses.

According to the poster, the proposed contest was to take place at Lahore, the capital city of Punjab Province (and at no other place), at a venue to be selected and arranged by Hazrat, or failing this by Mirza himself. A maximum of 40 Quranic verses were to be selected by ballot, all of them from one particular Surah of the Quran, and commentaries thereon were to be completed within a period of seven hours on the same day and in the presence of witnesses, without the help of any book or other assistance. A maximum of one hour would be given to each party to prepare himself for writing the commentary. The commentaries, each of which was to span at least 20 leaves (40 pages) of normal-sized paper and writing, would, after their completion and signatures by the respective contestants, be read out to three learned persons for adjudication. These persons would be nominated, and arrangement for their presence made, by Hazrat Meher Ali Shah. Mirza indicated that the names of Maulvi Muhammad Hussain of Batala, Maulvi Abdul Jabbar Ghaznavi, and Prof. Maulvi Abdullah of Lahore, or some other three neutral Maulvis would be acceptable to him for this purpose. After listening to the two commentaries, the judges would pronounce on solemn triple oath as to which one was considered by them to be superior and written “with Divine endorsement”. In the event of Hazrat’s commentary being adjudged better or even equal in merit to that of Mirza, the latter pledged to admit that the truth was on the side of Pir Meher Ali Shah. He would then burn all books containing his claims to messiah-ship and prophet-hood, and acknowledge himself to be “the damned and the disgraced one”. On the other hand, if Mirza were to be adjudged the victor, or if Pir Meher Ali Shah were to refuse to enter the contest, he would repent and pledge allegiance to Mirza and announce this through a published poster.

Hazrat was asked in the poster to convey acceptance of the challenge, along with an assurance that he would pledge allegiance to Mirza in the event of his defeat in the contest, within ten days, through a printed poster witnessed (like the poster of Mirza) by twenty respectable persons. Five thousand (5,000) copies of this poster were to be prepared and distributed by Hazrat to the interested quarters.

Mirza’s poster was accompanied by a supplement, which inter alia emphasized categorically that the commentaries to be written by the contestants would be wholly in Arabic language and would not include any portion in Urdu. It further spelt out some of the conditions mentioned in the main poster, set out arrangements for the contest in greater detail, and also made a few additional proposals. One such proposal was that the participation of Hazrat Pir Sahib in the contest would be essential in any event since he had the reputation of being superior to all other maulvis (Muslim clergy) in the knowledge of Arabic and the Quran. At the same time, however, he felt it was necessary to widen the purview of the contest and to include in it as many other ulama as possible, on the express condition that these ulama would sit at some distance from each other and from the two main contestants so that they could not provide any written or oral assistance to one another or to see what others were writing. This would help avoid the possibility of some ulama regarding themselves as superior to the Pir Sahib in the knowledge of Arabic and the Quran, and on that basis refusing to accept the defeat of Pir Sahib as binding on them. It would also ensure that the “Sign of God” was manifested with the maximum strength and glory. Mirza suggested, therefore, that the Pir Sahib should furnish a list of at least forty ulama (besides himself) who would also take part in the contest. Furthermore, he asked Hazrat to suggest a date for the contest not earlier than one month hence, in order to allow enough time to the other participating ulama to make the necessary preparations and arrangement to be present in Lahore on the date of the contest. A notice of one week was to be given by Hazrat to Mirza, through a registered letter, after fixing the date of the contest. At the end of the supplement, Mirza gave his own list of 86 eminent ulama and mashaikh from all over the country, from among whom the forty ulama other than the Pir Sahib should preferably be selected, and invited them all to be present at the contest.

Hazrat’s reply accepting the challenge

Mirza’s poster and its supplement were received in Golra Sharif on 25 July 1900. Hazrat immediately prepared a poster in reply and had it printed and published the very next day in all leading newspapers of the country. As desired by Mirza, 5,000 copies of this poster were prepared and some copies were sent to Mirza at Qadian by registered post. Copies were also mailed or sent by hand to ulama in all parts of India, including the 86 ulama listed at the end of the supplement to Mirza’s poster, and also to ulama in adjoining Afghanistan. All this generated widespread interest among the people.

In his reply, Hazrat wrote that he whole-heartedly accepted the invitation for a public contest extended by Mirza as well as the conditions listed by him, including the venue proposed for the contest (viz., Lahore). He also accepted the three ulama named by him as prospective judges. He suggested, however, as an additional condition from his side, that the two contestants should first engage in an oral debate elaborating their respective points of view. In this debate, Mirza Sahib should first try to convince the audience, through oral arguments, about the validity of his professed claims to be the Promised Massiah, the Mahdi, and a prophet of Allah. Hazrat, in his turn, should try to effectively refute those claims. The judges should then give their verdict in the light of these presentations, and the written contest in commentary proposed by Mirza should take place only after the judges and the audience had expressed their judgment about the oral debate. Furthermore, as far as written presentation was concerned, the many books written by Mirza were filled with his various claims and views, and these had already been read and commented upon in detail by various ulama and also by other fair-minded intellectuals from time to time. Because of all this Hazrat concluded, it seemed but appropriate to give first priority to an oral debate and a secondary one to a written contest.

As desired by Mirza, the 25th of August 1900,i.e exactly one month after the date of Hazrat’s answering poster, was proposed by Hazrat as the date for the contest, and Mirza was asked to reach Lahore on that date. Also as desired by Mirza, Hazrat’s poster was witnessed by twenty respectable persons, mostly ulama.

A reply to the supplement to Mirza’s poster was written, on Hazrat’s behalf and with his approval, by Maulana Muhammad Ghazi, head teacher of the madressah at Golra Sharif, and was appended to the main poster. It reaffirmed Hazrat’s readiness, as expressed in the main poster, to undertake the contest proposed by Mirza on the latter’s own conditions, with the additional condition to have an oral contest before the written one. It also added a few auxiliary observations. For example, it reproduced a selected sampling of the many absurd interpretations that had been placed on verses of the Quran by Mirza Sahib, to suit his own ends and to establish his claims to prophet-hood etc.

Qadiani’s objection to Hazrat’s proposal

Mirza had been asked from Hazrat’s side to give timely intimation about any changes that he desired to be made in the conditions of the proposed contest. However, no such intimation was received until just four days before the scheduled date of the contest (i.e.25 August 1900), when a copy of the printed letter was delivered in Golra Sharif. This letter had been written, not by Mirza Sahib himself but by Syed Muhammad Ahsan Amrohi, one of his close associates. The letter rejected, on Mirza’s behalf, the proposal made by Hazrat for an oral debate and insisted on a written contest in commentary writing only. In reply, Mirza was promptly informed through a poster issued on Hazrat’s behalf on 21-22 August 1900 by Hakim Sultan Mahmood of Rawalpindi (one of Hazrat’s devotees), that although Hazrat still considered an oral debate to be the best method of deciding the issue, he was ready for only a written contest also on Mirza’s own conditions and was therefore leaving for Lahore to participate in such a contest. A copy of the poster was sent by registered post to Mirza at Qadian. All other interested quarters, which could be contacted within the very short time then left until the date of the contest, were also notified accordingly, although the poster could not be published as widely as would have been desirable.

In their various subsequent writings and statements, Mirza Sahib and other Qadyani writers have contended that in the poster published by Hakim Sultan Mehmood, the condition for oral debate, which was unacceptable to Mirza, had been allowed to stand and had not been withdrawn by Hazrat. Because of this, they say, Mirza Sahib could not have participated in the contest under any circumstances.

Huge Muslim assemblage at Lahore, venue of the contest

As the appointed date approached, hundreds of Muslims belonging to all schools of religious thought (Shi’ah, Sunni, Ahl-e-Hadith, etc.) and all walks of life started arriving in Lahore from various parts of the country. Major Islamic Madressahs and centers of learning (e.g., those in Delhi, Saharanpur, Deoband, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Multan etc.) sent their representatives and even some public servants from far-flung areas took leave of absence and came to Lahore to witness the historic contest. From the other side, members of the Qadyani community also came in sizeable numbers. In a period when people as a rule took keen interest in religious matters, the participation of Hazrat Pir Meher Ali Shah (R.A) a renowned scholar and an eminent spiritual personality , along with the large group of distinguished ulama, in the historic debate which was to decide the fate of the leading imposter of the 19th / 20th century, generated unprecedented enthusiasm.

Nomination of Hazrat as leader of Ulama

In this moment of destiny, ulama of various shades of thought sank their traditional differences, and unanimously declared Hazrat (R.A) to be their sole spokesman and leader. They thus displayed once again that all-pervading Islamic spirit of brotherhood which has helped unify the Muslim Ummah at every critical turn of history against its common enemies, and of which no parallel can be found in any other religion or creed.

The fact that the group of ulama which elected Hazrat as their undisputed leader on this occasion included many who were far senior to Hazrat – then only 42 years of age and barely in the tenth year of his mission of teaching and spiritual guidance-underscores the high esteem in which he had come to be held in the religious circles even at that early stage.

Hazrat’s arrival in Lahore

On leaving Golra Sharif for Lahore by train on 24th August 1900, Hazrat had two telegrams sent to Mirza at Qadian, first from Rawalpindi and then from Lala-Musa railway station situated on the rail route to Lahore. This was meant to ensure that he was duly informed about Hazrat’s expected arrival in Lahore. About 50 eminent ulama accompanied Hazrat from Golra railway station, and many more from other areas either joined him at various points en route or reached Lahore directly to join the group of welcomers. A very large gathering of people received Hazrat on his arrival to Lahore, at the railway station. They proposed to take Hazrat in a procession to the venue of the contest, but Hazrat vetoed the suggestion. Hazrat was indeed so convinced about that when Mirza finally refused to come to Lahore for the contest, Hazrat even thought of going personally to Qadian, along with a selected band of ulama, to meet Mirza in his own stronghold. He was, however, dissuaded from doing so by a majority of the Muslims, on the ground that such a course was inadvisable for various reasons.

Mirza’s failure to reach Lahore

Hazrat and his associates, as well as all others who had assembled in Lahore in large numbers to witness this epoch-making contest, waited for two full days, i.e. 25 and 26 August 1900, for Mirza to arrive. Meanwhile, the Qadianis kept giving assurances that Mirza Sahib’s arrival was being delayed only due to negotiations about the applicable terms and conditions, and that he would come as soon as these were finalized. However, Mirza failed to turn up. Many influential Ahmadis of the Lahori faction reportedly tried hard to induce Mirza to come to Lahore, but did not succeed. His main objection was that withdrawal of the condition of oral debate should have been announced by Hazrat personally instead of through his associate Hakim Sultan Mehmood. It was pointed out to him that withdrawal had been done so because Mirza’s own rejection of Hazrat’s suggestion for oral debate had been conveyed through the same procedure, i.e., through the associate Muhammad Ahsan Amrohi a proxy and not by Mirza personally. Nevertheless, Hazrat even then showed his readiness to withdraw his condition under his own signature provided Mirza did the same in respect of his rejection of that condition. Mirza, however, not only declined to do so but also refused point-blank to come to Lahore. According to him, the maulvis had conspired to have him assassinated under cover of engaging him in a debate to disprove his claim to prophet-hood. (In making this allegation, he conveniently ignored the fact that the contest had been arranged at his own initiative and not at the insistence of the maulvis! )

Reaction among Mirza’s followers

When the Qadyani representatives eventually failed to persuade their leader to come to Lahore for the debate, a wave of dismay swept through the community. Many disillusioned Qadianis deserted the party, while some others went into despaired seclusion. Many more (e.g., Babu Ilahi Bukhsh, who had previously been a long-time and zealous Qadyani activist but had later repented and rejoined the ranks of orthodox Muslims) even published posters and pamphlets lauding Hazrat’s learning and erudition and acclaiming his victory in the contest. The diehards, however, not only refused to accept defeat but in fact declared the episode to be a resounding victory for their side. Posters were splashed all over Lahore announcing “the flight of the Pir Sahib of Golra” against the latter-day Imam (i.e., Mirza), “the crushing defeat of the maulvis and the Pir by the heavenly sign”, and “the inspired tidings of the Promised Massiah being proved correct”. All this despite the fact that the entire city was witness to the prolonged presence of Hazrat Meher Ali Shah Sahib in Lahore, and to the fact that Mirza of Qadian was refusing to come there notwithstanding repeated calls to do so.

As a diversionary tactic, a delegation of the Qadyani community met Hazrat following the cancellation of the debating contest due to Mirza’s crying off, and suggested a Mubahilah (i.e., a contest of supplication to Allah between Hazrat and Mirza). According to this proposal, either of the person whose prayer was answered positively would be acknowledged as the victor. Hazrat readily accepted even this suggestion, but the Qadyani side did not pursue it further.

Qadyani preachers and orators offered a variety of far-fetched rationalization to justify the course of action adopted by Mirza. Far from producing any favourable impact, however, such rationalization merely helped to make a laughing stock of these Qadyani preachers as well as their beleaguered leaders. The upshot of all this was that neither Mirza Sahib nor his party ventured to openly face the forces of truth ever again and relied instead on clandestine and underhand tactics to promote their cause.

In still another poster, which was dated 25 August 1900 and was later published in the collection of his posters titled “Tabligh-e-Risalat” , Mirza indicated, with reference to Hazrat’s proposal for an oral debate, that in order to break the Pir Sahib’s false notions about his own prowess in this sphere, he had first thought of sending his friend and eminent scholar Syed Muhammad Ahsan Amrohi for such a debate. However, the latter had declined to do so because he had come to know through revelation that the Pir Sahib’s camp included people who had a habit of indulging in obscene abuses. While his earlier claims had been that he had the endorsement of Archangel Gabriel for his cause, and that “Allah would protect him from (the evil designs) the people”, he was now afraid of the Pathans of N.W.F.P. In the circumstances, Mirza said he had now himself compiled a booklet on the subject as a “gift” for Pir Meher Ali Shah, titled Tohfa-e-Golraviyah (The Golravi Gift). If and when the Pir Sahib replied to the contents of the booklet, the people would automatically come to know about their respective arguments and their answers.

Mirza’s new proposal

Accordingly, he sought to revive the issue once again on 15 December 1900 (4 months after the previous abortive contest) by publishing yet another poster. He said in order to settle the matter once and for all; he had been inspired by God with the fresh proposal. Under this proposal, he would, sitting in Qadian, write a commentary in chaste Arabic on the opening Surah of the Holy Quran, Al-Fateha. In this commentary, he would prove his various claims in the light of Surah alone, besides describing other truths and facts stated in Surah. Similarly Hazrat, sitting in Golra Sharif, would do the same. The two commentaries should be printed and published in book form within 70 days after 15th December 1900, so that everyone can compare them and form his judgment about their respective merits. A price of Rs.500 would be paid to Hazrat if his commentary was adjudged by three scholars to be superior to that of Mirza. The party failing to write and publish the proposed commentary within the stated period would be regarded as a liar, and no further proof for that purpose would be needed.

Hazrat’s reaction to this proposal

This new challenge had not the slightest impression on Hazrat Pir Meher Ali Shah Sahib (R.A). Devoted as every moment of his life was to the remembrance of Allah, spiritual contemplations, and providing guidance to knowledge thirsty humanity, fruitless activities like this had no place in a sober scheme of things. Under compulsion of circumstances, and on the insistence of other ulama, he had already spent what he thought to be more than enough attention to this matter, even disregarding the oppositions to this voiced by some Mashaikh (including Hazrat Khwaja Allah Bukhsh Sahib of Taunsa Sharif). He thus had no more time to waste on such futile exercises. While, therefore, Mirza did prepare and publish his planned commentary on Al-Fateha, under the title Ijaz-ul-Masih, (Miracle of the Massiah) within 70 days as stipulated by himself, no such thing was done by Hazrat.

As expected, Mirza’s book was found, not only by scholars but even by students, to be full of glaring errors of Arabic language, grammar and diction, and replete with plagiarized ideas and content. In one place, for example the month of Ramadan had been said to consist of 70 days; at another, yowm-ud-din (Day of Judgment) was termed as the period of the Promised Massiah (Mirza himself). Because of this, the book failed to cut any ice with the concerned circles.

Hazrat’s book “Saif-e-Chishtiyai”

In reply to Mirza’s two books, Ijaz-ul-Masih and Shams-e-Bazighah, Hazrat wrote his now-renowned book Saif-e-Chishtiyai (The Chishtia Sword), and had it distributed free of cost to the sub-continent’s ulama and mashaikh as well as among religious schools and other institutions.

Saif-e-Chishtiyai further elaborated the arguments contained in Hazrat’s earlier book Shams-ul-Hidayah. In addition, it made nearly one hundred critical comments on the incorrect meaning and logic, errors of grammar, diction and idiom, plagiarisms and distortions in respect of Surah Al-Fateha (the opening Surah of the Holy Quran) as contained in Mirza’s Ijaz-ul-Masih. Similar criticism were made of the contents of Shams-e-Bazighah, in which an effort had been made by Mirza to spell out the meaning of the Kalimah (There is no god but Allah and Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is Allah’s Messenger) as demanded by Hazrat in Shams-ul-Hidayah and objections had also been raised to the various points made in that book (Ijaz-ul-Masih, written by Mirza Qadyani).

In Saif-e-Chishtiyai, Hazrat had inter alia predicted that since Mirza was an impostor, he would never have the privilege of visiting Madina Munawwara and paying his respects at the tomb of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H), which, according to a hadith was one of the things which Jesus Christ (the real Promised Massiah) was destined to do, along with the performance of Hajj, after his future descent to earth. This prediction was proved correct when Mirza died a few years later neither performing Hajj nor visiting Madina.

Mirza passes way

The publication of Saif-e-Chishtiyai took the sails decisively out of the Qadyani movement. It helped thousands of wavering Muslims regain firm faith in the real truth. Even many Qadianis repented and discarded Qadianism after reading the book. However, Mirza and many of his diehard followers still failed to learn any lesson. In 1907, as part of his continuing vendetta against Hazrat Pir Meher Ali  Shah Sahib (R.A), Mirza made yet another of his long chain of unfulfilled predictions-one that proved to be the last that he was destined to make ever again. He predicted that Hazrat would pass away during the coming month of Jaith of the Bikrami calendar. Instead, however, he himself breathed his last during the same month of the following year!

A summing up

Hazrat Syedna Pir Meher Ali Shah Sahib (R.A) was no doubt in the forefront of all those ulama and Mashaikh who waged a heroic struggle to nip the evil of Qadianism in the bud. He occupied a leading position among those who laid down the foundation of what developed in course of time into a nation-wide “ Khatm-e-Nabuwwat” (P.B.U.H) (Finality of Prophet-hood), and that resulted three quarters of the century later in the Qadyani community being unanimously declared to be outside the pale of Islam by the elected legislature of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 7th September 1974. To those pioneering crusades must, therefore, go the ultimate credit for showing the real face of the Qadyani creed to the world.

Following the verdict of Pakistan’s Parliament, the Ahmadiyat community’s missions are now reported to be working under covers mainly in some European, African and other countries in the name of Islam. They present themselves and Mirza Sahib as an orthodox Muslim by placing before their audience only the writings belonging to the early period of Mirza Sahib’s life when his beliefs were still those of an orthodox Muslim. They expunge the portion of Mirza’s writings that contain his claims to prophet-hood and other related claims and deny that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ever made a claim to prophet-hood or any other claims contrary to Islam.

It is hoped that the facts about the Qadyani movement presented, in the context of Hazrat Syedna Pir Meher Ali Shah’s (R.A) struggle against it and on the basis of authentic original sources, would help to see the Qadyani (Ahmadi) movement in its true colours, and to understand that enrollment in the Qadyani (Ahmadiya) community would not amount to embracing Islam but to adopting a creed that is totally antithetical to that great faith.

TUHFA-E-GOLARHVIYYAH by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1902)

Intro
Per Ahmadiyya sources, MGA and his team began writing this book in 1900, as his beef with Pir Mehr Ali Shah exploded.  This book was in Urdu with some brief Arabic, it ran for 254 pages and was published from the Diya’ul-Islam Press, Qadian, the original edition had barely 40 words per page, this was how they extended the number of pages in those days.  In english the title translates as ‘Gift for Golarvi”.  Also spelled as Golarviah and Tohfa Golarviak.  In this book, MGA asserts that the Messiah was supposed to come exactly 1400 years after Muhammad (saw), he even quotes Nawab Siddiq Hassan Khan’s famous book and his assertions that the Mahdi was coming soon.  There is also an appendix, we aren’t sure when this appendix was added.  Tohfa-e-Golarwiyah comprises of RK, v. 17, pages 35-340, which includes the Appendix/Supplement on pages 35-86, pages 87-340 are the main book.  This book starts with an appendix, which is weird.  In the main body of the book Mirza Ghulam Ahmad argues, based on the Quraan and Hadeeth, that Jesus has died and that the Promised Messiah was to appear from among the Muslims. In the appendix he argues that he is the Promised Messiah.

“”””Translation: [Arabic] Glad tidings for you, My Ahmad. You are My purpose and are with Me.
I have planted for you My tree with My own hand. Your secret is My secret and you have a
good standing in My presence. I have chosen you for Myself.

You are to Me like My Unity and My Uniqueness, so the time has arrived when you
should be helped and be known among the people. O Ahmad, grace—that is verities and
points of wisdom—flow from your lips. You have been blessed, O Ahmad, and the blessing
that Allah has bestowed upon you was deserved by you.

The Gracious One has taught you the Qur’an—that is, informed you the meanings of the Qur’an that people had forgotten—so that you might warn a people whose ancestors passed away unheeded and so that the guilty ones might be faced with a conclusive argument from God. Tell them: I am not saying this on my own, but on the basis of revelation from God and I am the foremost of the believers in this age. Tell them: If you love Allah, then come and follow me, so that Allah may also love you. These people will plan and Allah will also plan and Allah is the Best of planners.

Allah is not such as to leave you till He has distinguished between the pure and the impure. My mercy covers you in the world and the hereafter. This day you are in a position of honour with Us. You are of those who are helped. You have a standing with Me of which the people have no knowledge. We have sent you in order to show mercy for the universe. O
Ahmad, enter Paradise along with your zauj. O Adam, enter Paradise along with your zauj.

This [zauj] means that everyone who associates with me, whether it is my wife or friend, will achieve salvation and will experience a heavenly life and will ultimately enter Paradise….

This station is by the Mercy of Allah, so that it may be a Sign for people. I determined to
establish a vicegerent on the earth and so I created this Adam. This Adam will establish the law and revive the faith.

This is a Messenger of Allah in the mantles of the Prophets—with good standing in the world and in the hereafter and one of those who have attained nearness to Allah.

I was a hidden treasure and I liked to be known. We shall make this servant of Ours a
Sign for the people and a mercy from Us and this was a matter determined since eternity.

O ‘Isa [Jesus], I shall cause you to die a natural death, that is your opponents will not
succeed in killing you, and shall raise you towards Me, that is will establish with clear
arguments and manifest Signs that you are near to Me, and shall purify you from the
charges of the disbelievers and shall place those from among the Muslims who follow you above your opponents till the Day of Judgment. A company of your followers will be from among the first and a company from among the last. They seek to frighten you of their mischief, but Allah will safeguard you Himself from the mischief of the enemies even if the people do not safeguard you and your Lord is Powerful.

Allah praises you from His Throne—that is, in contrast to the abuses of the people, Allah
praises you. We praise you and send down blessings on you. We shall suffice you against
those who mock you. They say: ‘This is a lie which he has fabricated; we have heard nothing like it from our ancestors.’ These ignorant ones do not realize that it is not hard for Allah to grant this station to someone. We have honoured some people above others. This status has been granted by the mercy of your Lord so that it should be a Sign for people. But these people have rejected the Signs of God unjustly and arrogantly while their hearts accept them.

Tell them: I have with me a special testimony from Allah; do you believe it not? Tell them again: I have with me a special testimony from Allah; do you submit or not. When they see a
Sign, they say: ‘This is just an ordinary thing; it has happened so since eternity.’ [And if they
see a Sign, they turn away and say, ‘A passing feat of magic.’] …Allah has decreed since eternity: I and My messengers will surely prevail—meaning that no matter how severe the opposition, people raised by God would never be vanquished. Allah is Supreme over His decree, but most people know it not. He it is Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and
the religion of truth, so that He might make it supreme over all religions. There is no changing the words of Allah. Those who have believed and have not adulterated their faith with any injustice are the ones who will be secure from every calamity and they are rightly guided.

Do not supplicate Me in the matter of those who have committed wrong; they are a people
drowned. They treat you with mockery and say: ‘Is this the one whom Allah has raised
up?’ They look at you but do not see you. Keep in mind when the one who will declare you a
disbeliever will plan against you… and will call upon his elder Haman to light the fire of
persecution saying: ‘Initiate the edict of apostasy yourself because people have greater regard for you and you can incite them all with your edict. Therefore you be the first to put a
stamp of approval, so that all ulema might be excited, and follow your stamp with their stamps. So that I should discover whether God is with this man or not though I consider him a liar.’ (Then he put the stamp.) Ruined is Abu Lahab and so are the two hands (one with which he held the edict and the other with which he put the stamp or wrote the edict). It did not behove him to intervene in this matter but in fear. Whatever pain will afflict you, it will be from Allah.

There will be a great trial after Haman puts a stamp on the edict of apostasy, then be steadfast as were steadfast the Prophets of high resolve…. This trial is from Allah, so that He
might love you with a great love. It is an everlasting love that will never be cut off. Your
recompense is with Allah. Your Lord will be pleased with you and will perfect your name.
There are many things that you like for yourselves but they are not good for you. And there are many things that you desire not, but they are good for you. Allah knows and you
know not.””””

That is [Arabic] Your age will be eighty years—a few years less or some years more;
and you will live long enough to witness your distant progeny.

Thirty-five years or so have passed since this revelation was vouchsafed.

“”””Today, Saturday June 2, 1900, at 2 p.m. in a light slumber I was shown a sheet of paper which was very white and in the last line of which was written:

[Urdu] Glory

I conceive that the word occurring in the last line means that the end would be glorious.
Then the revelation came:

[Urdu] The Powerful One has manifested His affair; Those who called [me] a disbeliever have been seized.

The meaning of this, which has been conveyed to me, is that soon such powerful Signs would be shown whereby those who called me a disbeliever would be charged themselves and will be seized securely and would have no way of escape left. This is a prophecy which every reader should remember.””””

This means that those who call me a disbeliever shall witness such Signs that they will have no excuse left. The revelation indicates that soon some bright Sign will be manifested which will be decisive.””””

At this point I recall a very clear vision which was as follows:

After Maghrib prayer, while I was fully awake, I was overtaken by a slight numbing of my faculties…and had a wonderful experience. First there was a sound of some people walking fast…and then five very dignified, holy, and handsome personages came into my vision. They were the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Hadrat ‘Ali, Hasan, Husain and Fatimah al- Zahra’, may Allah be pleased with all of them. One of them, and I think it was Hadrat Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, out of great affection and kindness like a loving mother, placed this humble one’s head upon her thigh.

Then I was given a book concerning which I was told: ‘It is a commentary on the Holy Qur’an, which has been compiled by ‘Ali and now ‘Ali bestows it upon you.’ [Allah be praised for all this].

“””The treatment that my own people have accorded to me is well known and the hostility of other people towards me is natural. All of them have done their utmost to destroy me. They have contrived every project for doing me harm and have carried it to its limit. They have omitted nothing—prayers, declarations of the merit of slaying me, slander and defamation. Then which is the hand that safeguards me? Had I been a liar, God would Himself have furnished the means of my ruin and it would not have been necessary for people to devise methods for my ruin and be frustrated by God. Is it the sign of a liar that the Holy Qur’an should bear witness for him, heavenly signs should be manifested in his support, reason should uphold him, and those who desire his death should themselves die? I do not believe that after the age of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), any opponent of a godly or true person has suffered such clear defeat and disgrace as my enemies have on account of their opposition to me. When they attacked my honour they were themselves disgraced, and when they announced that I was a liar and I would die before them, they ended up dying before me.”””

“””Fie on these people, for they do not honour that which God and His Messenger have said. Seventeen years of the century have passed, but their reformer is still hiding in some cave. Why are they so miserly towards me? Had God so willed, I would not have come. At times it comes
to my mind that I should supplicate Him to relieve me of this office and to appoint someone else in my place. But, at that very instant, it occurs to me that there can be no greater sin than to lack the courage to perform the service that God desires of me. The more I wish to retire, the more God Almighty pulls me forward. There is rarely a night during which I am not confronted with the words: “I am with thee and My heavenly hosts are with thee.”  The pure of heart will see God after death, but I swear by His countenance that I behold Him here and now. The world does not know me but He Who has sent me knows me. Those who seek my ruin are utterly mistaken and totally unfortunate. I am a tree planted by the Hand of the True Master. He who seeks to cut me down only desires to partake of the fate of Korah, Judas Iscariot and Abu Jahl. My eyes shed tears daily for someone to come forward and seek Judgement concerning me, according to the standard of prophethood, and then see on whose side God is; but coming forward for such a test is not the
business of every characterless person. There was one Ghulam Dastgir, one of the disbelieving hosts of the Punjab, who laid down his life in this attempt. It is now impossible for someone like him to come forward.

O Ye people, be sure that I am supported by the Hand that will be faithful to me till the end. If your men and your women, your young and your old, your small and your great, should all come together and supplicate for my ruin until their noses are rubbed out by their repeated prostration and their hands are numbed, even then God will not hear their supplication and will not desist till He has fulfilled His design. If not even a single person remains with me, God’s angels will be with me, and if you conceal the true testimony, stones will well nigh bear testimony in my support. Do not, therefore, wrong your souls. The false and the true have different countenances.  God does not leave any matter without judgement. I curse a life of falsehood and imposture, and the failure to serve the Creator for fear of His creatures. It is not possible for me to be lax in performing the service which God Almighty has appointed for me at its appropriate time, though the sun and the earth may join hands to trample me down. What is man but an insect and what is a human being but a lump of flesh? Can you then expect me to disobey the command of the Ever-Living and Self-
Subsisting One for the sake of an insect or a lump of flesh? In the end God has always judged between His commissioned ones and their opponents; He will do the same now. There is a season for the coming of God’s commissioned ones and a season for their departure. Be sure, therefore, that I have neither come out of season nor shall I depart out of season. Do not fight God. It is not within your power to destroy me.””””

“””How can God, Whose powerful hand supports heaven and earth and all that is between them, be frustrated by the designs of men? The day is near when He will announce His Judgement. It is a sign of the righteous that the end is always in their favour. God descends upon their hearts with His manifestations. How can that structure be demolished in which the true King has His abode? Revile me as much as you like, and devise whatever means of persecution you can think of, and make every plan for my ruin, but remember that God will soon prove that His hand is supreme. A foolish one thinks that he can win with his devices, but God rebukes him: ‘O accursed one, I shall frustrate all thy designs.’ Had God so willed, He would have bestowed sight upon these opposing
Maulavis and their followers, and they would have recognized the time and the season of the advent of God’s Messiah; but the prophecies of the Holy Qur’an and of the Hadith were bound to be fulfilled, which had predicted that the Promised Messiah would be persecuted by the Muslim divines who would denounce him as a disbeliever, condemn him to death, slander him and account him as being outside the pale of Islam and a destroyer of the faith.”””””

‘Lead a life of kindness and equity with your wives.’

And it is mentioned in a Hadith:

‘The best among you is he who is best towards his wife.’

Therefore, be good to your wives both spiritually and physically. Keep praying for them and avoid divorce. A person who is hasty in divorce is sinful in the eyes of God. Do not hasten to break like a dirty vessel that which God has brought together.””””

But those who bring Jesus back to this world believe that he would return with his prophethood and that Gabriel would be descending on him continuously for forty-five years with prophetic revelation (wahy-i nubuwwah). What is left then of the Finality of Prophethood (Khatm-i Nubuwwat} and the finality of prophetic revelation with such a belief? Rather, in that case, Jesus would be the last of the prophets (khatam al-anbiya).”

“Here the words messenger (rasul) and prophet (nabi) used for me in the divine revelation show that I am a rasul and nabi of God  the application of these words is by way of metaphor and simile. For it is definitely not inappropriate to apply the words rasul or nabi to a person who receives revelation direct from God and is definitely spoken to by God as in the case of prophets. On the other hand, this is an eloquent simile (isti’arah). That is why in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih al-Muslim, the Gospel and the book of Daniel and books of other prophets also I have been called by the name of prophet. In the books of some of the prophets the word ‘angel’ has occurred for me as a simile. The prophet Daniel has given me the name of ‘Mickael’ in his book. And in Hebrew, this word literally means ‘like God’.”

“”””I have already proved the death of the Messiahas and his spiritual exaltation….Now, after the death of the Messiahas, the next question is, what are the authorities contained in the Qur’an and Ahadith and other sources from which it is established that the Promised Messiah will appear from among the Ummah? I will set out these authorities below, please read them with care. Hopefully, God the Compassionate will guide you.

One of the arguments which prove that the Messiah who was promised to appear in this Ummah would be from among the Muslims is this Hadith set out both in Bukhari and Muslim and

It means that he will be your Imam from among you.  Since this Hadith relates to Jesusas and it is he who has been described in this Hadith as Hakam and ‘Adal [Arbiter and Judge], it follows, therefore, that the word Imam also refers to him. It is true that the words ‘from among you’ were addressed to the Companions of the Holy Prophetsa, but we know that none of them claimed to be the Promised Messiah. This, therefore, shows that the words ‘from among you’ are meant for
someone who, in the knowledge of God Almighty, would be a substitute for the Companions and is the one referred to in the verse:

And among others from among them who have not yet joined them.—Al-Jumu‘ah, 62:4

This verse shows that he will be instructed through the spiritual power of the Holy Prophetsa, and will, in this sense, be one of the Companions. This verse is further explained by the Hadith:

Had faith ascended to the Pleiades, it would be brought down by a man from among the Persians.

Here the quality which was particularized in the Promised Messiah and Mahdi has been attributed to this man from Persia. This quality is to replenish the earth with justice after it has been filled with wrongdoing and has become empty of faith and the belief in the Unity of God. Thus this man is the Promised Messiah and Mahdi; and I am he.

Just as the prophesied eclipse of the sun and the moon in the month of Ramadan has not occurred during the time of any other person claiming to be Mahdi, likewise, during the thirteen hundred years that have elapsed since the time of the Holy Prophetsa, no one has claimed, on the basis of Divine revelation, to be ‘the Man of Persia’ about whom the Hadith says that he will bring faith down from heaven.

“””In this revelation the family of my wife and my family are both described together as having been provided by God and both have been treated as praiseworthy to about the same extent. This is a clear indication that as my in-laws are descendants of Hadrat Fatimah, in the same way there is a mix of descent from Hadrat Fatimah in my genealogy through some of my grandmothers. The precedence given to my wife’s family in the revelation over my family is to stress the fact that she is a direct descendant of Hadrat Fatimah and I have partly inherited her blood.”””””
______________________________________________________________________________________________
[Tohfah-e-Golarhviyyah, Ruhani Khaza’in vol. 17, pp. 120-127].(See also Essence of Islam, Vol. 4).

“””One of the authorities that show that the Promised Messiah will appear from among the Muslims, is this verse of the Holy Qur’an:

Al-e-‘Imran, 3:111

This means: [O Muslims] You are the best of people who have been raised to benefit mankind and to repel the mischief of all Dajjals and of the Antichrist…

Every religious community is called upon to perform a particular service and has to contend against a particular enemy. It has been decreed that the Muslims would have to fight against the Antichrist. In a Hadith related by Nafe‘ bin ‘Utbah, which is set out in Muslim, it is stated that the Muslims will fight the Antichrist and will be victorious over him. The Companions of the Holy Prophetsa did not fight the Antichrist, but, according to the connotation of the verse ‘And from amongst others…’ the Promised Messiah and his Jama‘at were declared Companions of the Holy Prophetsa. It is also worth observing that in this Hadith, the Holy Prophetsa specified that his
Companions are those who would fight the Antichrist and he did not say that the Hebrew Messiah would fight him. The word ‘descent’ is used for respect and honour and indicates in this context that as in that age of turmoil, faith will ascend to the Pleiades and all spiritual leadership, learning, and instruction will fall into decline, the God of heaven will send someone whom He will have trained Himself without the intervention of earthly means, just as rain descends from heaven without the intervention of any human agency.

Another authority which indicates that the Promised Messiah will appear from among this same Ummah of Muhammadsa:

Al-Nur 24:56

which means, Allah has promised those people who believe and act righteously that He will make them successors in the earth as He made those successors who were before them.

The previous successors referred to in this verse are the successors from the people of Mosesas whom God had sent one after the other to establish and maintain the Law of Mosesas. No century was allowed to go by without the appearance of such a successor who came to revive the religion of Mosesas. The Holy Qur’an indicates that there were twelve such successors and
that the thirteenth was Jesusas, who was the Promised Messiah under the Mosaic law. In view of the resemblance which is established by the use of the word kama [just as] in this verse, it is essential that there should be a resemblance between the successors of Muhammadsa and the successors of Mosesas. To prove and firmly establish this resemblance, the Holy Qur’an mentions twelve Mosaic successors, each of whom was from the people of Mosesas and the thirteenth was Jesusas, who was the Khatam-ul-Ańbiya’ among the people of Mosesas, but did not actually belong to them. Then, pointing out the resemblance between the successors of the Mosaic dispensation and the successors of the Islamic dispensation, God clearly indicated that at the end of the Islamic dispensation there would be a Messiah and twelve successors in between so that figure of ‘fourteen’ should also correspond. Similarly, the Promised Messiah of the Islamic dispensation appeared at the beginning of the fourteenth century, just as the Promised Messiah of the Mosaic dispensation had appeared in the fourteenth century of the Mosaic dispensation. Thus, the distance of the two Messiahs from the Founders of their respective religions is the same….

If the second Messiah who was to come was to be the same Jesusas, this would contradict the Holy Qur’an, inasmuch as the Qur’an declares the Successors of the two dispensations to be distinct personalities, as is evident from the word kama [just as]. This distinction provides a clear authority which cannot be rejected even if the whole world were to combine against it. If the same person who was the last Successor of the first dispensation was to come back, the distinction between the two dispensations would disappear and the import of the word kama would be falsified. Such a thing would be contradictory to the Holy Qur’an and is, therefore, false

This is false, and everything that leads to a false conclusion is false.

It is worth remembering that in the verse:

As He made Successors from among those who were before them.—Al-Nur, 24:56

the same kama has been used which is employed in the verse:

As We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh.—Al-Muzzammil, 73:16

“The word min-ni (from me) used here, does not necessarily mean that ‘he will be from the Quraish,’ otherwise, this report would have simply mentioned Mahdi to be a Quraishite and could not have described the significance of greater importance. But the sense in which I have taken the word min-ni, evidently proves that he will inherit morals, excellences, miracles and unique mode of divine communication of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. This also proves that Mahdi will be from among those perfect ones who are perfect in their morals and are reflection (zill) of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), in these matters. This is the significance of the word min-ni.”

______________________________________________________________________________________________
[Tohfah Golarhviah, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 128-133].(See also Essence of Islam, Vol. 4).

“”””The third question is whether or not it is established that the Promised Messiah should have come in our time. The following detailed arguments prove beyond any shadow of doubt that he must appear in our time.

[1] The first argument is that it is stated in Sahih Bukhari— known as the most authentic book after the Holy Book of Allah—that the Promised Messiah will come to break the cross at a time when the world would be rife with intemperance in word and deed. It does not require an investigation to find out that hundreds of thousands have been influenced by Christianity and the country is being greatly affected by heretical teachings. Hundreds of people from every family have not only turned away from Islam but have become sworn enemies of the Holy Prophetsa. Hundreds of books have been published in refutation of Islam and most of them are full of abuse and vilification. When we look back in the context of this calamity, we are compelled to conclude that no century has been as harmful to Islam as the thirteenth century or the one which is now passing. Reason requires that in this time of peril, when forces of opposition have erupted in the world and the internal condition of Muslims has seriously deteriorated, some reformer should appear to repel the mischief of the cross and to purify the internal condition of Muslims. Experience of the thirteenth century has shown that it is not an ordinary task to purify the poisonous winds that are blowing fiercely and affecting sections of every town and village. This opposition to Islam and the multitude of objections raised against it is in itself not something that can be taken lightly. The earth is in turmoil at this appointed time and is forcefully throwing out its poisons. Heavenly power is needed to repel this poison because only diamond cuts diamond. All this clearly proves that this is indeed the time of the appearance of the Promised Messiah….

[2] The second argument comprises some Ahadith and visions of the honoured saints and great divines which indicate that the Promised Messiah and Mahdi would appear at the turn of the fourteenth century. For instance, the Hadith:

Signs will appear after two centuries.

has been interpreted by many of the older and later scholars as meaning that signs would appear after two centuries of the second millennium have passed. This means that the birth of the Messiah and Mahdi, which will be a great sign, will take place in the thirteenth century and that he will make his appearance in the fourteenth century. That is why scholars and divines have held that the Promised Mahdi was bound to be born in the thirteenth century so that he could proclaim himself in the beginning of the fourteenth. Basing himself upon this and several other indications, Maulavi Nawab Siddique Hassan Khan Sahib has recorded in his book Hujaj-ul-Kiramah that he believed on the basis of strong evidence that the Promised Mahdi would appear at the turn of the fourteenth century…

A Hadith of Dar Qutni also proves that the Promised Mahdi would appear at the turn of the fourteenth century. The Hadith says:

The translation of the whole Hadith is: Our Mahdi has two signs which have not appeared for any Messenger, Prophet, or commissioned one, since the creation of heaven and earth. The signs are that in the same month of Ramadan, the moon shall suffer an eclipse on the first of the nights peculiar to such phenomenon, and that the sun shall suffer an eclipse on the middle of the days peculiar to these eclipses.

This means that at the time when the Mahdi will put his claim before the world and the world will reject it, this sign will appear in heaven in his support, and that this sign would be exhibited in the month of Ramadan which is the month in which the Word of God was revealed. The spiritual significance of the darkness would be that great wrong had been committed on the earth, for the one who had come from God had been deemed an impostor. This Hadith clearly determines
the fourteenth century as the time of the appearance of the Mahdi and provides great sign for those who deny him, inasmuch as the eclipses of the sun and the moon took place in this century.

“””” I swear by God in Whose Hand is my life that He has manifested this Sign in the sky to testify my truthfulness, and He manifested it at a time when the Maulvis (theologians) named me Dajjal (Anti-Christ), the biggest liar, infidel and even the biggest infidel. This is the same Sign regarding which twenty years ago I was promised in Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, namely, Tell them I have with me testimony from Allah, will you believe it or not? Tell them I have with me testimony from Allah, will you accept it or not? It should be remembered that although there are many proofs from Almighty God for vindicating my truthfulness and more than a hundred prophecies that have been fulfilled to which hundreds of thousands of people are witnesses, but in this revelation, this prophecy has been mentioned specifically, i.e. I have been given such a Sign which was not given to anybody else from the time of Adam to the present time. In short, I can stand in the sacred precincts of the Ka’aba and swear that this Sign is to testifying to my truth.””””

1) God has bestowed upon me the understanding of the Holy Quran.

2) God has taught me the language of the Holy Quran in a miraculous manner.

3) God accepts my prayers more than of any other person.

4) God has supported me with heavenly Signs.

5) God has granted me signs from the earth.

6) God has bestowed upon me that I shall triumph over everyone who comes forward to oppose me.

7) God has given me the good tidings that my followers will always triumph over others through their reasoning in support of the truth, and that they and their progeny will be greatly honoured in the world, so that they should see that he who comes to God never suffers loss.

8) God has promised me that till the Day of Judgment, He will continue to manifest my blessings so much so that kings will seek blessings from my garments.

9) Twenty years ago, I was informed by God that I would be denied and that people would not accept me but that God would accept me and would manifest my truth through powerful signs.

10)God has promised me that for the purpose of repeating the light of my blessings, a person will be raised from among my progeny into whom God will breath blessings of the Holy Spirit.  He will be characterized by inner purity and will have a close holy relationship with God. He will be a manifestation of the True and the High as if God had descended from heaven.  The time is coming and is near when God will spread far and wide the acceptance of this Movement. It will spread in the East and the West and in the North and the South and Islam will become synonymous with this Movement. This is not said by any man. This is revelation from God for Whom nothing is impossible “””

MGA says death by killing of a prophet is no proof that the prophet is not a true prophet and then on same page later he says if EsaAS did not die on cross then yahyha AS also did not get killed but was lifted up to heaven alive.

“”””The next step is to prove that I am the one whose coming as the Promised Messiah was decreed for the beginning of the fourteenth century. This is proved by the fact that the eclipse of the sun and the moon has taken place at the time of my claim; and the mischief of the cross has assumed a special significance in my time. Through me God has established that the Promised Messiah was to appear from among the Muslims. God Himself has strengthened me, so that no clergyman can stand against me in debate, and God has so overawed Christian divines that they dare not confront me. This is because God has supported me with the Holy Spirit and has appointed His angel to accompany me. Therefore, no Christian priest can confront me. These are the people who used to say that the Holy Prophetsa exhibited no miracle and made no prophecy. Now they are challenged but they do not come forth. This is because God has put it in their minds that if they enter the field against me they can look forward to nothing but defeat. Just consider, who was it that stood up against the Christian clergy when the deification of the Messiahas was at its height and it was alleged that the Holy Prophetsa did not have the support of the Holy Spirit and his miracles and prophecies were denied? Who was it in whose support God Almighty showed such great miracles? Although hundreds of stories have been put forward which have no support, read my book Tiryaq-ul- Qulub and then say honestly who it is that has shown signs and the prophecies which are proved by the testimony of hundreds of thousands of witnesses who are still living. Who is it that challenges his opponents and puts them to shame every morning by inviting them to compete with him and show if they enjoy the support of the Holy Spirit? Is there anyone from amongst the Christians and Hindus and Aryas who can assert before me that the Holy Prophetsa displayed no sign? Thus God has perfected His argument. Denying the truth is not the sign of honesty and integrity.

God has made the truth crystal clear to every people and there is none under the sky who can compete with me with regard to the support of the Holy Spirit.

“”””God has bestowed upon me strength from Himself so that no Christian cleric can withstand me in debate. God has so impressed the hearts of Christian divines with awe that none of them has any strength left to stand up against me. God has sent me the support of the Holy Spirit and has appointed His angels to keep me company, and no Christian cleric can challenge me. These are the people who used to say that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed no miracles and made no prophecy; and now, despite being challenged, they fail to come forward. This is because God has put it in their hearts that they will experience nothing but defeat when they stand up against me.

“”””The excellences of the men of God who have a relationship of love and friendship with Him are not confined to prophecies alone. Verities are disclosed to them and they are granted spiritual comprehension. The wonders and mysteries of the Shariah and proofs of the truth of Islam are revealed to them. The inner meanings of the Holy Qur’an and the fine points of the Word of God are miraculously conveyed to them. They become heirs to miraculous wonders and heavenly knowledge both of which are bestowed directly upon those whom God loves. They are favoured with special love and are invested with devotion and sincerity like Abrahamas. The Holy Spirit is
reflected in their hearts. They become God’s and God becomes theirs. Their prayers bring about extraordinary results. God’s jealousy is roused in their support. They are blessed with victory over their opponents in every field. Their countenances shine with the light of Divine love. God’s mercy comes down upon their dwellings like rain. Like a beloved child, they rest in the lap of God.  God displays greater wrath in their support than a wild tigress whose young is threatened. They are protected against sin, attacks of the enemies, and errors of teaching.  They are the kings of heaven. God hears their supplications in a wonderful manner, so much so that kings have recourse to them. The Lord of Glory resides in their hearts. They are invested with a Divine prestige and their countenances display royal self-sufficiency. They consider the world and its inhabitants to be less than a dead insect. They know only the One and melt under His fear every moment. The world falls at their feet, and it is as if God manifests Himself in human form. They are the light of the world and the pillar of this mortal universe. They are the princes of true peace and they are the sun that dispels darkness. They are hidden beyond hidden and no one truly recognizes them, except God, and no one truly recognizes God except themselves. They are not God but it cannot be said that they are distinct from God. They are not immortal but it cannot be said that they die. Can a wicked person, whose heart and thoughts and life are foul, ever resemble them? Certainly not, except for such resemblance as a shining pebble may sometimes have with a diamond.

When men of God appear in the world, a type of spirituality descends from heaven on account of the blessings that they enjoy and all temperaments are activated, and those whose hearts and minds have affinity with true dreams begins to experience such dreams and visions, as when rain brings down water from the sky the subsoil water also rises, and every kind of vegetation begin to sprout. On the contrary, if rain is held back over a period of time, the water in the wells also dries up. Thus the men of God are in fact heavenly water and with their coming the waters of the earth also swell.

“””It is absolutely wrong to say that Jesus (peace be on him) has ascended bodily to heaven. There is no proof of this in the Holy Qur’an nor in Ahadith, nor can reason accept it; indeed the Qur’an and the Hadith and reason all three reject it. The Holy Qur’an has clearly said that Jesus (peace be on him) has died, and the Hadith narrating the Me‘raj [Spiritual Ascent] of the Holy Prophetsa informs us that Jesusas has joined the souls of the departed Prophets (peace be on them), and has cut asunder completely from the earth. Reason tells us that it is not the way of Allah that a mortal body should ascend to heaven and, discarding all the characteristics of earthly life like eating and drinking etc., should join the souls who have suffered bodily death and have arrived in the hereafter. Reason can furnish no such instance. Moreover, as the belief that Jesus (peace be on him) ascended bodily to heaven is inconsistent with the Holy Qur’an, so is the doctrine of his bodily descent inconsistent with the Holy Qur’an.

The Holy Qur’an affirms the death of Jesus in the verses:

‘When Thou didst cause me to die.’—Al-Ma’idah, 5:118

‘Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him.’— Al-e-‘Imran, 3:145

‘This day have I perfected your religion for you.’— Al-Ma’idah, 5:4

‘But he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.’—Al-Ahzab, 33:41

and proclaims the end of normal Prophethood after the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and clearly affirms that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is Khatam-ul- Anbiya’ by stating:

‘But he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.’—Al-Ahzab, 33:41

But those who insist on bringing Jesus (peace be on him) back to the earth believe that he will return with the status of a Prophet and for forty-five years Gabriel shall continue to convey Prophetic revelation to him. What room does this doctrine leave for the belief that Prophethood ended with the Holy Prophetsa? According to them it is Jesus who is the Khatam-ul-Anbiya’.

“””While I was engaged upon the compilation of this book, Allah the Almighty addressed me and said:

[Urdu] Yalash is the name of God Himself.

This is a revealed new word which is not found in this form in the Qur’an or hadith or in any dictionary. It has been disclosed to me that it connotes [ya la sharik] [O You without an associate]. The purpose of this revelation is that no human being possesses a quality or a name or performs any action which is peculiar to Him and is not to be found in any other. That is why the qualities and the miracles of every Prophet are displayed, by way of reflection, by some of his selected followers who have a perfect spiritual relationship with him, lest the ignorant ones should hold a Prophet to be without an associate because of some uniqueness. To call a Prophet Yalash would amount to utter disbelief.”””

“”””God Almighty deals with offenders in two ways, and offenders are of two types.  First, there are those offenders who do not transgress the limits, and though out of extreme bigotry they persist in their effort yet they do not carry their persecution to the extreme limit. These will be punished in the hereafter. God, the All-Knowing, does not seize them in this world inasmuch as their attitude is not one of severe hostility.  For the punishment of sins the appointed day is the Day
of Judgement.

Secondly, there are those offenders who transgress the limits in their wrongdoing and persecution and desire to rend the Messenger of God and the righteous like wild beasts and to wipe them out altogether, and to consume them like a blazing fire. With regard to such offenders who carry their wrath to the limit, the way of Allah is that His wrath is roused against them and they are punished in this world in addition to their chastisement in the hereafter. In the idiom of the Qur’an they are designated the maghdubi-‘alaihim.”””

“””This revelation was published in the Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah twelve years before I was declared a non-believer. [This was the time] when Maulavi Muhammad Husain wrote out his declaration of apostasy and asked Miyan Nadhir Husain of Delhi to be the first to place his stamp of approval on it and thus declare me a non-believer and to publish it among all Muslims. Twelve years before this declaration and the stamp of approval from the above-mentioned Miyan [Nadhir Husain], this book [Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah] had been published throughout the Punjab and India. Maulavi Muhammad Husain, who turned out to be the first to propound this declaration, after twelve years, was the one who laid the foundation of declaration of apostasy. Miyan Nadhir Husain of Delhi was the one to spread this fire throughout the country on account of his reputation. Here is a proof of God’s knowledge of the Unseen, inasmuch as this prophecy was made at a time when there was no cause or occasion for this declaration and Maulavi Muhammad Husain considered himself to be in my service. At that time God the Almighty revealed this prophecy. Anyone endowed with even minimal reason and intelligence should reflect whether it is within human power of mine or of anyone else to know, on the basis of intellectual conjectures, twelve years in advance, a storm, the fierceness of which would carry away a person like Maulavi Muhammad Husain—who professed such sincerity towards me—into such great error and along with him a person like Miyan Nadhir Husain who had said that no book like the Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah had been published in the history of Islam. Indeed this is purely God’s knowledge [of the Unseen] which is termed a miracle.””””

“””Among the arguments which prove that I am the Promised Messiah, there are some signs that are personal to the Promised Messiah. A major sign among them is that the Promised Messiah must appear in the latter days as set out in the Hadith:

It will be in the latter days when tribulations will abound and the age will be approaching its end.

There are two kinds of indications to prove that these are the last days in which the Messiah should appear.

The signs set out in the Qur’an and the Ahadith which indicate the approach of the Day of Judgement and which have been clearly fulfilled. As, for instance, the eclipse of the sun and the moon in the month of Ramadan which is indicated in the verse:

Al-Qiyamah, 75:10

Then there is the discarding of camels as a means of transportation, as is clearly indicated in the verse:

Al-Takwir, 81:5

And the multiplication of irrigation canals which is obvious from the verse:

Al-Infitar, 82:4

And the continuous falling of stars as indicated in:

Al-Infitar, 82:3

And the occurrence of famines and the spread of epidemics and the scarcity of rain as contained in:

Al-Infitar, 82:2

And a total eclipse of the sun; thus spreading darkness as stated in:

Al-Takwir, 81:2

And the moving of the mountains as is generally understood to be the meaning of the verse:

Al-Takwir, 81:4

And the rising of the fortunes of the people who are wild, lowly, and unacquainted with noble Islamic virtues, as is obvious from the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:6

And the multiplication of the means of communication and travel, whereby it will become easy for people to meet one another, which is an accepted interpretation of the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:8

And publication of books, pamphlets and letters in all countries, as indicated in:

Al- Takwir, 81:11

And the corruption of the inner condition of the divines, who are the stars of Islam, which is a clear purport of the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:3

and the spread of innovations, errors, and all kinds of disobedience and vices, as indicated in the verse:

Al-Inshiqaq, 84:2

All these signs of the approach of the Day of Judgement have been manifested and the world is in the grip of a great revolution…

Then there is the verse in Surah Al-Mursalat which indicates that a great sign of the approach of the Day of Judgement is that someone should appear and with his coming the number of Messengers should be determined.

This means that the last Khalifah in the chain of successors in the Islamic dispensation, whose name is the Promised Messiah and the awaited Mahdi, shall make his appearance in the last days. The verse is:

Al-Mursalat 77:12

i.e., the time when number of the Messengers will be determined. This means that with the appearance of the last Khalifah, the number of Messengers which had been determined by Divine decree and had been hidden, shall become manifest. This verse also clearly shows that the Promised Messiah will be from among the Muslims.”””””

“””Each prophet has one advent but our Prophet, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, has two advents and the categorical statement on this is the noble verse ‘wa aakhareena minhum lamma yalhaqoo bihim’ [And others of them who have not joined them] [Quraan 62:4]. All great Quraanic commentators write in the explanation of this verse that the final group of this nation, that is, Maseeh Mau`ood’s community, will be colored as [i.e., have the characteristics of] the Companions [of Muhammad] and like the Companions [of Muhammad], with whom Allaah be pleased, without any difference, will obtain grace and guidance from His Holiness [Muhammad], the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him. … His Holiness [Muhammad], the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, has two advents or, in other words, it may be stated that His Holiness’ second coming into the world, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, in a ‘buroozee’ [projected or manifested or displayed] manner, had been promised, which [promise] was fulfilled by the appearance of the Maseeh Mau`ood and Mahdee Ma’hood”””

It has been disclosed to me that I am that person. Krishna has two qualities: First, he is Ruddar, the slayer of wild beasts and swine—with reason and heavenly signs; Secondly, he is Gaupal, or nourisher of cows, that is to say, a helper of the pious with his spiritual breath. Both these are characteristics of the Promised Messiah and both these have been bestowed upon me by God Almighty.”””

The expression Avatar which is current among the Hindus is in its essence synonymous with Prophet. There is a prophecy in Hindu scriptures that in the latter days an Avatar would appear, who will possess the qualities of Krishna and will be his reflection. It has been conveyed to me that I am that person. Krishan had two qualities; one, that he was Ruddar i.e. the slayer of wild beasts and swine, [evil characters] that is to say by reasoning and Signs; and, two, that he was Gopal i.e. the nourisher of cows, that is to say he was a helper of the virtuous through his spirit. [Urdu/Hindi] O Ruddar Gopal, your praise is set out in the Gita.

I understood therefrom that the whole world whether Hindu, Muslim or Christian, is waiting for a Ruddar Gopal, but he has been described in different words and languages; and all are agreed that this is the time of his advent. All have set out two qualities for him: slayer of swine, and protector of cows. I am the one [possessing both these qualities]. Among the Hindus it has been proclaimed from ancient times that the subject of these prophecies would appear in the Aryavart, that is to say, in this country India. Those prophecies also set out names of places of his habitat but they are all metaphoric, subject to interpretation.

“I‘JAZUL-MASIH” (1901) some quotes, “The Miracles of the Messiah”

Intro
In 1901, MGA and his team didn’t publish many books.  In fact, this seems to be the only book published.  This is an Arabic book, with a persian translation, it has 204 pages and was published directly from Qadian printed in the Zia-ul-Islam Press in 70 days from the month of fasting in the year 1318 A.H. and the Christian month of 20 February 1901. Printed at Qadian, District Gurdaspur by Hakim Fazal Din Bhervi. Price: Quantity: 700..  This book deals with MGA’s beef with Pir Mehr Ali Shah as well as a full commentary of Surah Fatiha, the first chapter of the Quran.  In this book, MGA criticizes Egypt, MGA blames Moses-as why he did not call for the destruction of Egypt and its removal from existence, as the previous generations perished and were removed from existence, all of this just because a sheikh criticized his book.

Some quotes
“”””I write in Urdu for general information that God, out of His Grace, completed this booklet within 70 days on 20 February 1901. The truth is that it all happened out of His Grace. During this period, my humble self was afflicted with various diseases and illnesses and there was a fear that this work would not be finished. Because of weakness and attacks of illness, I was not doing well enough to even raise a pen; and even if I was healthy, how would I have the capacity? (persian proverb). Then I figured out the secret behind these physical illnesses – it was so that my followers out of my friends should not think that this is a result of my mental faculty. So, He proved through illnesses and obstructions that this is not a work of my heart or my mind. In this thought, my opponents are completely true when they say that this is not his work, there must be some hidden person who helps him. So, I bear witness that there really is someone else who helps me, but he is not human but rather the same Capable and Strong before whose throne our head is. If someone else can help in such a supernatural venture, then readers should anticipate that together with this book others like it, hundreds of other exegesis of Surah Al-Fatiha have been published or are about to be published – within the seventy days as in the condition laid out by me – as that is the criterion for the decision. Especially Syed Mehr Ali Shah – I am sure that he must have tried to write some exegesis, for how else can he show his face to those people to whom he said that he is travelling to Lahore to write the exegesis. It is obvious that if he could not write in 70 days, then how could he have written in 7 hours? Therefore, this is a great sign for the judges to see the support of God, for by setting the deadline of 70 days, hundreds of maulvis were invited to oppose me; what is their answer now as to why they could not publish an exegesis like mine? This is the miracle, what else is a miracle?”””

(Urdu poem that says that the miracle of this writing is proof of his being Messiah)

“””For this book I prayed that God in His Majesty make it a miracle for Muslim clergy that no writer is able to produce a comparable book, and no one is given the ability to write such a book. My prayer was accepted and God gave me the good news: “We will stop it from heaven” and then I concluded that this is a hint that enemy will be unable to produce a book like thereof.””” (I‘jazul-Masih, p. 66, Ruhani Khaza’in, v. 18, p. 68)(See Also Hiddn Treasures).

“””On that blessed night my prayer found acceptance from the Presence of the Great One and my Lord cheered me saying: He has been forbidden by the forbidder in heaven, Then I understood that the indication was that my opponents would not have the power to attempt it and that they would not be able to produce the like of it either in eloquence or in its qualities. This good news was given by Allah, the Most Benevolent, during the last ten days of Ramadan.””(I‘jazul-Masih, p. 66, Ruhani Khaza’in, v. 18, p. 68).

“””””The greatest and grandest tiding of Surah al-Fatihah is that it foretells the era and time of the Promised Messiah and Mahdias. Seeking strength from the loving God, I shall expound on this topic in its appropriate place.

“Moreover, one of the tidings of this chapter is that it informs us of the age of this petty world. Seeking strength from the One God, I shall also write on this. This is the very same Fatihah regarding which a prophet from among the prophets had given tidings. He said, ‘I saw a powerful angel descending from heaven and Surah al-Fatihah was in his hand in the form of a small book. By the command of the Almighty Lord, the right foot of that angel set upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth. He called out with a mighty voice like the roar of a lion. With this voice of his, seven thunderbolts flashed. Every thunder from among them uttered voices. It was said, “Bear well in mind the things that the thunder uttered and write them not.” The loving Lord has stated as such. Swearing upon the living God Whose light had illumined the countenance of rivers and inhabited lands, the angel who had descended said, “After this age, there shall be no age that shall have the glory the likes of it.”’

“Commentators unanimously agree that this tiding (prophecy) is related to the age of the divine Promised Messiah. That time has indeed arrived and the cries of the seven oft-repeated verses [Surah al-Fatihah] have been manifested. This era is the final age and shall manifest blessings and guidance, and no age after it shall be of the same rank in grace and calibre. When we bid farewell to this world, there shall be no messiah after us till the Day of Judgement. Neither shall anybody descend from the heavens, nor shall they emerge from any cave, save the person regarding whose generation my Lord has ordained already.

“This prophecy is absolute and he who was to descend from Allah the Almighty has already descended. The heavens and the earth bear testimony to him, but alas, you are the people who are ignorant of that testimony. And you shall remember me after a time has passed. However, fortunate is he who accepted [the claim of] the time and did not waste it in ignorance.”””””” (Ijazul-Masih, Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 18, pp. 71-73)

“””The followers of Mehr Ali – one of my opponents – claimed that he is a complete scholar and a great saint. After he claimed that he is a scholar, and knows the Quran and is of the wise ones, I invited him to accept my challenge by writing a Tafseer like my Tafseer, he was stupid and didn’t accept. I say: even if he was as good as al-Hamadhani or al-Hareeri, he would not be able to write like my writing.””””

“Khutbah Ilhamia” quotes, the revealed Sermon, April 11th, 1901

Intro
Khutbah Ilhamia is a total cover-up job by Ahmadiyya sources.  Its first edition seems to have been published on August 25, 1901, the second edition October 17, 1902, it appears during the
intervening period, four more chapters and some flyers were added during the period of May 1900 to October 1902, and then it appeared in the final shape in October 1902 (see hidden Treasures, pages 269-273).  The Lahori-Ahmadi’s published an abridged version of an english translation in 2003.  Watch Ak Shaikh and Akber C’s video analysis here.  In 1907, in “Haqiqatul wahy” (see page 457 of the english edition), MGA calls this sermon as sign #165 of his truth.  In 1907, MGA was claiming that his speech (Khutbah Ilhamia) was intimated to him on the morning of Eid, however, the full story will prove that MGA and his team planned this weeks in advance.  Furthermore, MGA was feuding with Pir Mehr Ali Shah in this time frame, Pir Mehr Ali Shah claimed that MGA couldn’t speak/read/write proper Arabic and had challenged MGA to a speaking contest in Arabic in Lahore.  However, MGA never came to the venue.  In the meantime, MGA’s team concocted this story in an attempt to prove that MGA could give speeches in Arabic and much more.

It was Eid of April 11th, 1900, Noorudin led the Eid service and gave the speech, MGA then got up from a sitting position and spoke for about 20 minutes.  MGA delivered an untelligible rant, this was converted into “Khutbah Ilhamia”, and published later by Ahmadiyya sources.  Nevertheless, we have some references and source material in the below.  MGA was known to claim these crazy things, in 1890, he claimed that Qadian was also mentioned in the Quran.  Later on in 1907, in Haqiqatul Wahy, on pages 457-458, MGA mentions the Khutbah Ilhamiya.  However, in this book it is mentioned that Khutbah Ilhamiya happened in 1900, not 1901, whereas all Ahmadi sources have always written 1901 (see Dard, page 722).

MGA claimed that Muhammad (Saw) visited Qadian

In a footnote, MGA quotes the quran (17:1), this is wherein Allah tells us how he carried Muhammad (Saw) on the night journey from Masjid Haram (In Mecca) to Masjid Aqsa (In jerusalem).   In fact, in the 5-volume commentary of the Quran by Ahmadi’s, they have also written there that ‘Masjid Aqsa”, may also refer to MGA’s Masjid Aqsa in Qadian (see page 1404), which was built by MGA’s father in 1876, just before he died.

See Roohani Khazain khutba Ilhamia footnote Volume 16 page 22

Some additional quotes
As quoted by Hani Tahir on Facebook, see page 14

“and the battle will be fierce (between the dajjal and the messiah), and the war will be dragged to forty years from the day of the appearance of the messiah until the prayers of the messiah are heard for his righteousness and sincerity, and when the messiah wins; then, all the wars will be over, which were going on between the Rahmaniyah soldiers and the Satanic soldiers. Then, will be the end of the role of this world, and the human instinct returns to its first form”.

“I am “khatamul auliya”. No “wali” will come after me.” (Khotbah Ilhamia, p.35)
______________________________________________________________________________________________

“”””Our Prophet, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, was the Aadam of the end [that is, the Aadam of the last era or period] of the world and the apex of the days of the period [that is, the apex of his own era]. And His Holiness was made to be born in the manner of Aadam. After all kinds of insects and animals and beasts had been born on the earth. … That is, every host [or group] of debauched people and ‘kaafirs’ [disbelievers] and materialistic people was created and, in heaven, [God] brought into existence stars and moons and suns, that is, made manifest the souls of the pure, which were prepared [ready for the Divine]. After this [He] clothed that Aadam in the dress of existence whose name is Muhammad and Ahmad, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him and he is the chief of the progeny of Aadam and the Imaam [leader] of the people and the most righteous and auspicious of all.””” (RK, v. 16, pp. 259-260, starts at 4th Urdu line from top of pg. 259 and ends at bottom of pg. 260)
______________________________________________________________________________________________

… Hence, there is no doubt that His Holiness [Muhammad], the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, is the Aadam of the last era and the ‘ummat’ [nation or followers] of this praised Prophet is in lieu of [his] progeny. … And the era of spirituality of our Prophet started at the fifth millennium and was perfected at the end of sixth millennium and [the following] statement from God Almighty indicates this: ‘li yuzhirahu `aladdeen’ [that He may cause it to prevail over all religion] [a portion of the verse Quraan 61:10]. And the detail of this position is that our Prophet, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, came on the footstep [i.e., in the pattern] of Aadam. And Aadam’s spirituality emerged on the fifth day [although he was not yet born] because by that day whatever was of the elements of his substance and the reality of his essence had been created. Because the earth with all its creation and the sky [or heaven] with all its artifacts is the reality of Aadam’s essence. [RK, v. 16, pp. 261-263]
______________________________________________________________________________________________

This secret [or mystery] should, in other words, be understood as [follows]: Man at one [point in] time was mineral and at the next time, plants [or sugar] and after this animals and after that [he] was [the] star[s] and the moon and the sun until, on the fifth day, all that which his nature [i.e., the nature of Man] had required from the earthly and heavenly powers [or forces] was collected by the Grace of God, the Best of Creators. Hence, all creation was a perfect individual for Aadam or [it] was a mirror of his existence which was made honored and venerable. Then [He] willed that the hiddenness be made to appear completely in one person who is a manifestation of these characteristics [or essences]. Hence, Aadam’s spirituality, with a comprehensive, complete radiance, radiated forth on the day of Friday in the last hour, that is, on that day which is the sixth day. Similarly, the spirituality of our Prophet, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, appeared with abridged characteristics [‘ijmaalee sifaat’] in the fifth millennium and that era was not the apex of the developments of that spirituality but rather was the first step for the acme of its excellencies. Then that spirituality radiated in a complete manner at the end of the sixth millennium that is, at this time [i.e., now], just as Aadam was born at the end of the sixth day by the command of God, the Best of Creators, and the spirituality of the ‘Khayr-ur-Rusul’ [the Best of the Messengers, i.e., Muhammad], for the culmination of its appearance and for the prevalence of its radiance, adopted a manifestation, as God Almighty had promised in the Clear Book [the Quraan], so I am that manifestation. [RK, v. 16, pp. 264-267]

“Nuzul ul Masih” or “The Descent of the Messiah” (published posthumously in 1909) and quotes

Intro
Dear readers, after MGA died, there were 3 books that were published posthumously, “Jesus in India”, “Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya Vol. 5” and “Nuzul ul Masih”.  These books were cover-up jobs, the BA5 addressed the failure of MGA’s “age-prophecy”, which promised that MGA would live until age 80, which would be 1920, however, MGA died early of cholera.  In this book, MGA claims that his father died in 1875, and he also wrote that his brother died in 1881.  Why did do this?  His editors did this to discredit MGA himself and assert that MGA was just guessing, they were thus able to adjust his year of birth back 4-5 years to 1835.  Ahmadi sources claim that MGA began writing this book in 1902.  This book in english is “The descent of the Messiah”, however, Ahmadi sources call it “The Second Coming of the Messiah”.  This book was published on the 25th of August 1909.  See here also: http://wiki.qern.org/mirza-ghulam-ahmad/publications/roohani-khazain/nuzool-ul-masih

Seeratul Mahdi and Nuzul ul Masih, clashing of dates and etc
This narration 769 spreads over 5 pages and deals with various discrepencies in the dates.

Ref. seera tul Mahdi 3

Narration no. 769

” Dr Ismail wrote to me and said that in narration 467 of seerat ul mahdi, he differs with me on some of the dates which are given below:

1- (A) HAZRAT MASIH MOUOOD WROTE 20 AUGUST 1875 AS THE DATE OF DEATH OF HIS FATHER LATE MIRZA GHULAM MURTAZA (look Nazool al Masih page 207) but in seerat ul mahdi 1876 is written. Then in an other place, HAZRAT SAHEB (mgaq) WROTE JUNE 1874 AS HIS FATHERS’S DATE OF DEATH (nazool ul masih page 116)

The humble one states that ” contradiction ” in his (mgaq) own statement shows that he wrote those estimated dates out of memory. But the dates that i wrote was taken from government records therefore I consider 1876 is the right date and in HAZRAT SAHIB (MGAQ)’s book KASHFAL ATA HAS THAT REFERNCE”

(B) I am skipping this part, this again shows contradictions that mgaq had with regards to some incidents.

2- HAZRAT SAHEB (mgaq) WROTE HIS BROTHER MIRZA GHULAM QADIR DIED IN 1881 (nazoole masih) and you wrote 1883 in seera tul mehdi. Similarly in an other place HAZRAT SAHEB (mgaq) WROTE 1887 AS DATE OF DEATH (nazool Masih 213) ”

Some quotes
1—-“””He who accepts me accepts afresh all the prophets and their miracles, and he who does not accept me will lose his previous faith also, for he has only tales to fall back on and his own observation. I am the mirror of God Almighty. He who comes to me and accepts me will see afresh the God concerning Whom other people have only old tales to tell. I believe in the God Whom those who deny me do not recognize. I state truly that what they believe in are the idols of their imagination and not God. That is why those idols cannot help them, cannot give them
strength, cannot bring about a holy change in them, and cannot show them any signs (Nuzul ul Masih, pp. 84-85, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol .18, pp. 462-463)(See Hidden Treasures).”””

2—“”The name of the Revenue Officer who was trying the suit was Hafiz Hidayat ‘Ali. He dismissed the suit on the statement of the defendant that according to a decision of the Commissioner he was entitled to cut down the tree in dispute. When he announced the dismissal of the suit the defendant and his witnesses went out of the court room. They returned to the village and announced that the suit has been dismissed. Thereafter, the Reader of the Court, who left the court room for a little while, returned and pointed out to the Revenue Officer that the order of the Commissioner which the defendant had relied upon had been set aside by the Financial Commissioner. The Reader put up the file to the Revenue Officer. Thereupon, Hidayat ‘Ali made a complete turnabout, tore up his first order, and decreed the suit. “”””Once I saw in a dream that my brother Ghulam Qadir was seriously ill. This dream was communicated to several people. Accordingly, my brother became seriously ill
thereafter.

Thereupon, I began to pray for him. I saw another dream that he was being called by an elder deceased member of the family. The usual interpretation of such a dream is death. His illness became more serious and he was reduced to a skeleton. This caused me great anxiety and I turned to Allah the Almighty, praying for his recovery…. I started praying and a few days later I saw in my dream that my brother was walking about in the house in full health without any support. He was accordingly restored to health by Allah the Almighty and lived for fifteen years thereafter.

“”””The declaration by Bava Nanak in my dream that he was a Muslim meant that sometime his being a Muslim will become public. It is for this purpose that I wrote my book ‘Satt Bachan’. My saying to the Hindu: ‘The water of this fountain is not clear, drink from our fountain’; meant that a time will come when the truth of Islam will become manifest to the Hindus and the Sikhs and the fountain of Bava, which the Sikhs have foolishly rendered muddy, will be cleared up through me.

“””””(A) On one occasion I saw Bava Nanak in a dream in which he declared himself a Muslim. I also saw a Hindu drinking from his fountain and I said to the Hindu: The water of this fountain is not clear, drink from our fountain. This was thirty years ago and I related my dream to several Hindus and I was certain that confirmation of this would become available in due course. Accordingly, after some years, this dream was fulfilled very clearly. Three hundred years after the death of Bava Nanak, we found access to his robe which proves clearly that he was a Muslim. This robe, which is a kind of outer covering, is preserved with great reverence as a relic at Dera Baba Nanak [District Gurdaspur] in the custody of his descendants.

“”””About twenty-five years before the case brought against me by Martyn Clark I had seen in a dream that I was present in a court before a magistrate and the time of the prayers had approached. Accordingly, in the middle of the hearing of that case, when I requested Captain Douglas to permit me to join the prayers, he gladly gave me permission.

“””””In a dream I saw an angel seated on an elevated platform in the guise of a boy. In his hand he was holding a pure loaf of bread, which was very bright.  He gave it to me and said:

[Urdu] This is for you and for the dervishes who are with you.

I saw this dream at a time when I was not at all known nor had I put forth any claim nor was there any group of dervishes with me. But now I have a large Jama‘at of people who have voluntarily chosen to put their faith above the world and have thus reduced themselves to the position of dervishes. Having migrated from their homes and having separated themselves from their relatives and friends, they have taken up permanent abode near me.

I had interpreted the loaf of bread as meaning that God Himself will provide for me and for my followers and that we will not be rendered anxious on account of lack of provision.

This has been the case over a long number of years.

“””””Mirza A‘zam Beig, who was a retired Extra Assistant Commissioner, instituted a suit against us to recover the share from our property of some of our absentee co-sharers.  My brother Mirza Ghulam Qadir, believing firmly in the strength of our case, entered upon its defence. When I
supplicated with reference to this matter, I was vouchsafed the revelation:

[Arabic] I shall accept all your supplications except in the matter of your collaterals.

Thereupon, I collected all our relatives and told them very clearly that they would not succeed in that suit and should not proceed with its defence; but, relying upon the apparent strength of their case, they paid no heed to my warning and continued the defence. In the court of first instance, the decision went in favour of my brother. But how could the matter be concluded contrary to the revelation from Allah the All-Knowing! Finally, in the Chief Court, my brother lost the case. In this way the truth of the revelation became manifest for everyone.

“”””About twenty-five years ago, I saw a dream in Gurdaspur that I was sitting on a char-pa’i [cot] and that Maulavi ‘Abdullah Ghaznavi (deceased) was sitting on my left on the same cot.  Meanwhile, it passed through my mind that I should push Maulavi [‘Abdullah Ghaznavi] off the charpa’i.  I began to move slowly towards him until he got off the cot and sat down on the ground. Thereupon, three angels appeared from heaven, one of whom bore the name: Khaira’iti. They also sat down on the ground as Maulavi ‘Abdullah was sitting and I remained seated on the charpa’i.
Then I said to all of them: ‘I will now pray and you say Amin.’ Thereafter, I supplicated:

[Arabic] Lord, remove all uncleanliness from me and purify me completely

On this, the three angels and Maulavi ‘Abdullah all said: ‘Amin’. Thereafter, the three angels and Maulavi ‘Abdullah flew up to the sky and I woke up.

As soon as I woke up I felt sure that Maulavi ‘Abdullah would soon die and that a special grace had been decreed for me in the heavens. Thereafter, I felt all the time that a heavenly power was working inside me until I began to receive revelation in continuous succession. In that one
night, Allah the Almighty perfected in me a change of the kind which cannot be brought about by the hand of man or by man’s volition.

It seems to me that Maulavi ‘Abdullah Ghaznavi had been drawn to the Punjab to bear witness to the light which was to be vouchsafed to me and he bore such witness. His testimony was affirmed by Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf and his brother Muhammad Ya‘qub but later they were
overcome by the love of the world.

I declare on oath in the name of God—whose false oath is the act of curse—that Maulavi ‘Abdullah made an affirmation of my claim in my dream. I pray that if this statement of mine, which I have made on oath, is false, then Allah the Almighty might be pleased to bring about my
death in great torment within the lifetime of the progeny of Maulavi ‘Abdullah and his followers and disciples; and if I have told the truth, then God might be pleased to make me prevail and to confound them, or to guide them aright. Maulavi ‘Abdullah’s own words were: ‘You have been
given the sword of heavenly Signs and other reasoning.  When I was in the world I was hoping that God would raise such a person in the world.’ This is the dream that I saw. [Do You O Lord curse him who lies and do You succour him who tells the truth.]””” [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 236–238, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 614–616](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””That is [Arabic] I shall humiliate him who designs to humiliate you.

This is a grand revelation and prophecy which has been fulfilled in various ways and in respect of diverse nations.  Whoever attempted to bring my Movement into contempt
was himself humiliated and frustrated.””” [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 189, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 567](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””I saw that I was standing in the street of a large town and with me was Maulavi ‘Abdullah Ghaznavi and both of us entered a mosque where he had his companions in large numbers and who were strong men, all armed and wearing military uniforms. Maulavi ‘Abdullah also appeared as a young man, very strong, in military uniform, and armed with his sword hanging by his side. This was the good news, several years in advance, of my marriage into a noble family of Sayyeds of Delhi.… [In the revelation] my wife was named Khadijah as she is the mother to a blessed progeny, and a blessed progeny has also been promised to me. It was also an indication that she would be of a Sayyed family.””” [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 146–147, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 524–525](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””It was the same promise which was set out in surah al- Tahrim [last verse of Chapter 66 of the Holy Qur’an]. In accordance with this promise, it was incumbent that someone from among the
Muslims should be named Mary and through the spiritual process ‘Isa [Jesus] should be born and should be called Son of Mary. I am that person. Mary was commanded: and so was I, the only difference being that Mary was then suffering from physical exhaustion and I was suffering from lack of financial means. “””[Arabic] Allah will clear him of that which they alleged because he has a high standing with Allah.

This is a tremendous Sign that despite the fact that all these people—Maulavi Muhammad Husain on behalf of the Muslims, Lalah Ram Bhaj Dutt on behalf of the Hindus and Dr. Henry Martyn Clark on behalf of the Christians—had combined against me to humiliate me and, together with their supporters, mounted an assault against me, as it happened at the time of Jang-e-Ahzab [the Battle of the Moat], Allah humiliated all of them and established my
innocence. …so that the revelation might be fulfilled:

“””It was about 1884 that God vouchsafed to me the revelation:

[Arabic] [I have lived a whole lifetime among you before this, then do you not understand?]

This was an indication on behalf of God the All-Knowing, that no opponent of mine would be able to point to any default in my life.  Accordingly, up till now, when I am about sixty-five years of age, no one, whether living close to me or far from me, can point to any stain in my past life. Indeed God Himself has made my opponents bear witness to the purity of my past life. For instance, Maulavi Muhammad Husain has, on many occasions, praised me and the members of my family in his journal Isha’atus-Sunnah and has claimed that no one is better acquainted with me and my family than him. Then, to the extent that he understood, he praised me. In this way an opponent, who became the originator of my condemnation as a non-believer, has confirmed the truth of this prophecy [I have lived among you…]. “””””(C) There are three types of Signs in this revelation. (1) First that this revelation comprises the date of the consecration of this mosque. (2) Second that in it is a prophecy stating that the affairs of a great Community will be settled in this mosque. Accordingly, thousands of people have made their covenant of repentance in this mosque. Hundreds of points relating to the mysteries of the faith are expounded in this mosque. Designs for new publications are settled in this mosque and a large number of Muslims offer the five daily prayers in this mosque and hear sermons and make their sincere heartfelt supplications.  No sign of any of these things existed at the time of its consecration. (3) Third, this revelation indicates that there will be some calamity in future. Whoever will enter this mosque with complete sincerity will be secure against that calamity. Other references in the Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah prove conclusively that plague is that calamity. Thus, this is a prophecy that whoever enters this mosque with complete devotion
and sincerity, such as is acceptable to God, will be secure against the plague, that is, against death by plague. [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 147–148, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 525–526](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

(B) Once I was in great need of fifty rupees and, as sometimes happens in the case of people who voluntarily adopt poverty and put their trust in God, I had nothing with me at the time. When I went out for a walk in the morning, the thought of the need prompted me to make a supplication in the jungle. I withdrew to an isolated place on the bank of the canal at a distance of three miles from Qadian towards Batala and made my supplication there. As soon as I had finished I received a revelation the rendering of which [in Urdu] is:

[Urdu] Observe how soon I accept your supplications.

I returned joyfully to Qadian and went to the post office to find out whether any money had arrived. I received a letter in which it was stated that a person from Ludhiana had dispatched fifty rupees and the amount reached me probably that day or the following day.

Before we set out from Patiala for the return journey, it was time for ‘Asr Prayer and in order to make my ablutions I took off my cloak and handed it to a servant of Sayyed Muhammad Hasan Khan, a minister of the State of Patiala. Thereafter, when the time came to purchase our tickets, I put my hand in my pocket and discovered that the handkerchief in which the money had been folded had fallen out of my pocket. Then I
remembered the revelation that this loss had to be suffered.  After we boarded the train and arrived at the [railway] station of Doraha, a European traveller deliberately misinformed one of my companions that the train had arrived at Ludhiana and we all got out of the train. After

When Lekhram was assassinated Hindu newspapers raised a great cry with reference to this couplet which was: Wa Bashsharani Rabbi…This great prophecy after being published so widely was fulfilled on March 6, 1897. In this revelation, the eye is expressly mentioned and the other two limbs are not specified. It is commonly said that the proper functioning of life requires that the eye, the ear and intelligence should be preserved. The fulfilment of this revelation can be judged from the fact that I have been suffering from diabetes for eighteen years and doctors and physicians know what a threat this disease constitutes for eyesight. “”””This case started in this manner. A man of the name of ‘Abdul-Hamid was incited by the Christians to make a statement before the District Magistrate of Amritsar that he had been sent by me to murder Dr. Henry Martyn Clark a Christian missionary. Thereupon the District Magistrate Amritsar issued a warrant for my arrest. On August 1, hearing this, my opponents gathered at the Batala and Amritsar station platforms and on the roads leading thereto, to witness my disgrace. But by Allah’s grace it so happened that somehow that warrant miscarried and in the meantime the District Magistrate of Amritsar realised his lack of jurisdiction in the case and sent a telegram, on August 6, to the District Magistrate of Gurdaspur that the execution of the warrant should be stopped. This telegram surprised everyone at Gurdsapur as they had received no intimation of any warrant. When the record was received by the District
Magistrate of Gurdaspur he summoned me to his court and treated me with great courtesy, providing me with a chair close to him. The name of this District Magistrate was Captain M. W. Douglas. He was a wise, intelligent and just man and realised immediately that the whole case was false and without foundation, and that is why I have compared him to Pilate at another place, but in his courage and justice he was much better than Pilate. By the further grace of Allah it so happened that ‘Abdul-Hamid himself confessed that he had been put up by the Christians to make his original statement which was entirely false. The District Magistrate,
being convinced of the truth of this, wrote a strong order discharging me and congratulated me with a smile. [Allah be praised for all this.]”””” [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 198–199, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 576–577](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

He was surprised to see that contrary to his expectations I had been granted great honour. “”””When, based on a motion initiated by my opponents, the government moved to have me assessed to income tax and I filed an objection, I was overcome with a state of vision, while I was sitting in the small mosque with some friends and we were busy compiling a statement of income and expenditure. I was shown that the Hindu Tahsildar of Batala, before whom the matter was pending, had been transferred and his place was taken by a Muslim. Along with this vision there were some indications that presaged my victory. I related this vision immediately to those present—one of whom was Khwajah Jamal-ud-Din,Inspector of Schools, Jammu and Kashmir, and there were many others. Thereafter the Hindu Tahsildar was suddenly transferred and his place was taken by Miyan Taj-ud-Din as Tahsildar of Batala. He made an honest inquiry and sent his report to Mr. Dixon, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur. By a happy co-incidence, he too was an intelligent and just official. (A) On one occasion, I was in great trouble on account of diabetes. Sometimes I passed water a hundred times in a day. Signs appeared between my shoulder blades which indicated the appearance of a carbuncle. Then, I was occupied in supplication and received the revelation:

Meaning that [Arabic] We call to witness death when it is removed.

This revelation has also been so fulfilled that every second of my life since has been a Sign.”””

“””On one occasion the son of Doctor Nur Muhammad, owner of the medicine factory, Hamdam-e-Sihat, fell seriously ill. The boy’s mother was very restless with anxiety. I took pity on her and supplicated for the boy’s recovery, whereupon I received the revelation:

[Urdu] Will recover

I communicated this revelation to those who were then close to me. It happened accordingly that by Allah’s grace, the boy recovered completely.”””  [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 230, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 608](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“”””(C) When the maulavis were unable to come forward to compete in writing a commentary and Mehr ‘Ali Shah of Golarha had recourse to all kinds of reprehensible devices, God Almighty bestowed upon me the miracle of writing a commentary on my own. I prepared the booklet I‘jazul- Masih in seventy days, though there were several interruptions and, for a good part of the time, I was ill…. During those days, I was vouchsafed a revelation about this book:

Meaning that [Arabic] He has been forbidden by the Forbidder from heaven.

This revelation has been fulfilled so clearly that neither Miyan Mehr ‘Ali nor any of his supporters have been able to write a reply so far.””” [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 224, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 602](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””(A) One Muhammad Hasan Faizi of village Bheen, Tahsil Chakwal, District Jhelum, a teacher in the Madrassah Nu‘maniah in the Shahi [Royal] Mosque Lahore, made a public announcement that he would write a reply to my book. After making such a tall claim, when he started compiling his notes and with reference to some of the verities that I had set out in my book he called down the curse of Allah upon liars, he perished soon thereafter. Observe how, having called down a curse upon me, he died an accursed death within a week.”””  [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 194, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 572](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””(B) Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah of Golarha wrote a reply to this book I‘jazul- Masih after a long time in Urdu, but it was proved that even the Urdu text was a verbatim copy of the book of Muhammad Hasan Bheni, and this brought great humiliation upon Mehr ‘Ali Shah. Thus, the revelation was fulfilled in his case also.”””    [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 194, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 572](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“”””I saw in a vision once that my fourth son Mubarak Ahmad had fallen down near the matting and was seriously hurt.  His shirt was all stained with blood. As Allah’s will would have it, within less than about three minutes I came out of the veranda and saw Mubarak Ahmad, who was just over two years old, standing near the matting. He made a sudden child-like movement and his foot slipped and he fell down and his clothes became bloodstained. This happened exactly as I had seen in my vision.”””  [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 219–220, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 597–598](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””Once I saw in a dream that my fourth son Mubarak Ahmad had died. Within a few days, he had high fever and lost consciousness eight times. The last time it appeared as if his life had come to an end. I began my supplication on his behalf and while I was so occupied I heard everyone say: ‘Mubarak Ahmad has died’. I placed my hand on him and there was no pulse or breathing and his eyes seemed petrified like those of a corpse. But my supplication brought an extraordinary change and by my putting my hand on him he began to revive and the signs of life
returned. Then I announced in a loud voice to those present: If Jesus son of Mary brought any dead person back to life, it would have been nothing more than this. That is, he would have revived someone near to death like this and not one whose soul might have reached the heavens and conveyed by the Angel of Death to its last resting place.”””  [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 220, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 598](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””On one occasion I received the revelation:

[Arabic] Lord show me how do You bring the dead back to life. Lord, forgive and have mercy
from heaven.

This was an intimation that I would have to supplicate in this manner and my supplication would be heard. Thus, my son Mubarak Ahmad became so seriously ill that everybody said he had died. I started my supplication and put my hand on him and he began to breathe again. This revelation has also been fulfilled in this wise that through me, God Almighty has bestowed spiritual life on thousands who were spiritually dead, and continues to do so.”””  [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 235–236, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 613–614](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””One night I received a revelation as if a third person was addressing me in the following words:

[Arabic] I am running to you with the members of my family.

This revelation was announced to all friends. “”””I was once seriously ill and recovery appeared improbable.  In this condition, I received the revelation:

[Arabic] No one can die without Allah’s command and that which benefits people endures in the earth.

Accordingly, God Almighty, of His grace and benevolence, restored me to health when recovery had seemed problematic. It is true that thousands of people recover from serious and even dangerous illnesses, but it is not within the power of man to announce in such a condition
that recovery is certain.””””  [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 221, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 599](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“””On one occasion his son Mirza Ibrahim Baig, fell ill and he wrote to me requesting me to pray for his son’s recovery. I supplicated for him and saw in a vision that Ibrahim was sitting close to me and said to me: ‘Convey to me greetings from Paradise;’ from which I understood that
his life was about to come to an end. I was reluctant to let his father know, but after much thought I informed Mirza Muhammad Yusuf Baig about this [impending] event and a few days later his grown up, gentle-minded, and obedient son passed away from this world before his eyes.””””  [Nuzulul-Masih, p. 223, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, p. 601](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

“”””I write another dream, which I saw about the plague, which was as follows: I saw an animal of the height of an elephant, but whose mouth resembled a human mouth and some of whose limbs resembled the limbs of other animals. I saw that it came into existence suddenly through [Allah’s] decree. I was sitting at a place that was surrounded on all sides by a forest in which cattle, donkeys, horses, dogs, swine, wolves, camels etc. abounded. It was conveyed to
me that all these were human beings who had taken on the form of animals on account of their misconduct.

Then I saw that the animal of the size of an elephant, which was a compound of various forms and had emerged solely with Divine decree from the earth, came and sat down near me, facing the north. It had a modest appearance and very shy looks. Every few minutes it would run into
one of the surrounding forests where its entry caused great confusion and terror and it started killing and eating the animals in the forest. I could hear the noise of its crunching the bones. After every raid into the forest it returned to me and sat down close to me, staying for about ten minutes.  Then it raided another forest where its action was repeated and, at the end of it, returned to me. Its eyes were very large and I studied it carefully each time it came back to me. It conveyed to me, by the expression of its face, that it was helpless in the matter and that it was only carrying out a task that had been assigned to it. It appeared to me to be a gentle and pious creature who did nothing on its own account, but only that which it was commanded to do.

Then it was conveyed to me that this animal was the plague and was the [germ out of the earth], mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, which would be sent in the latter days and it would bite people because they did not believe in God’s Signs …. The germ of the earth, mentioned in these verses, was destined to appear in the time of the Promised Messiah. It was further conveyed to me that this animal combining the features of many animals, which I had seen in my dream, was the germ of the plague. God had named it [germ of the earth] as this malady originates with the germs of the earth and is propagated by them and it first affects rats and then spreads
in different ways. Just as humans are affected by it, so can all other animals. That is why in my vision I saw it in different shapes.””””” [Nuzulul-Masih, pp. 37–39, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 18, pp. 415–417](see also the 2009 online english edition of Tadhkirah).

Response to the Book Saif-i-Chishtiai : pp. 53-99

http://wiki.qern.org/mirza-ghulam-ahmad/publications/roohani-khazain/nuzool-ul-masih

“”””I received this book by mail on July 1, 1902. Presumably, Peer Mehr Ali Shah has sent it with the intention to notify me that he has responded to my book Ijaz-ul-Masih, and also to Shams-i-Bazigha”””

“”””Now listen carefully to the criticism that Peer Sahib saying that the book Ijaz-ul-Masih which is a 200 page book; contains few sentences which will not be more that 4 lines if combined, some of these sentences are stolen from Maqamat al-Hareeri, some from Quran and some are stolen from other books. And some are written with some changes and some are popular Arabic phrases.

This is my theft that Peer Sahib has caught that out of 20,000 sentences 10/12 sentences; the sentences which are verse of Quran or Arabic phrase or according to him””””

“”””””from Hareeri or Hamadhani’s sentences. Sorry that he did not feel any shame raising these objections. He did not consider a bit that those little and 2/4 sentences should not be considered copying, as authors’ writings do contain such things, and these few sentences should be taken as quotes, then how can there be any objection? Hariri’s own book contains many Quranic verses as quotes. Similarly some unchanged sentences and verses (poetry) from others are found therein and some sentences from Abu Fazal Badi-uz-Zaman are found as is. So shall we form an opinion that all of Maqamat al-Hareeri is plagiarized? Some have doubted to the extent that Hareeri’s entire book was authored by someone else. And some say: once he was summoned before an Ameer/King and introduced as master of the pen. To test him, he was ordered to write something in perfect Arabic which he could not and that incident caused him a lot of embarrassment, yet he was well respected among authors and his Maqamat al-Hareeri is viewed with respect though that cannot be used in matters of faith or education because Hareeri is incapable of writing a true or real incident or hidden meaning of inspirations and prove that he can master the words to express a meaning or thought.”””””

“””””Why the one who is unable to write in response says that there are sentences in the book that are stolen (plagiarized)? If such (writing) is possible by stealing, why is he not coming to face it and why is he running around like a fox. O stupid one, first prove your Arabic skills by writing an exegesis then your criticism will be given some attention. Otherwise criticizing me and accusing me of stealing and pointing out grammatical mistakes, without proving your Arabic language skills is only like eating excrement. O ignorant, shameless, first write an exegesis of a Surah in perfect Arabic, then you will have the right to point out my mistakes or declare it stolen (plagiarized) “”””

List of Prophecies : pp. 118-242

Here, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad presents a list of ‘prophecies’ in a tabular form, with numbering, the ‘revelation’ he received, and how it was fulfilled:

No. Revelation Fulfilment
1 1874: Around the time of the death of his father: ‘Sky and the morning star’, ‘is not Allah sufficient for his servant?’ (both Quranic expressions) After his father’s death, he received fame and more than 1,000,000 rupees sent by his followers through the post office.
2 1880-1882: Several Quranic and pseudo-Quranic phrases meaning people will come from far-off areas, and help is near. He has a lot of followers, and the road to Qadian has been broken many times due to the frequency of horse-drawn carriages travelling on it.
3 1880-1882: psuedo-Quranic: ‘don’t turn your face away from the creation of Allah, and do not get tired of people’ Many people are coming to see him.
4 1880-1882: ‘people of Suffa, who are the people of Suffa’ Many people have migrated to Qadian and guest-houses and ‘suffa’ had to be made for them.
5 1880-1882: ‘your forefathers will be cut off, and will start from you’ His fame has spread more than that of his family
6 1880-1882: ‘I desired to be succeeded, so I made Adam’ Quranic: ‘I have made in the earth a successor . . . shed blood. . . . know not.’ He was the Adam. The blood refers to the murder cases against him. Adam was twin – first male, and then female, I was born twin – first female then male – which denotes the symmetrical end of time. I am spiritually without father (teacher) or mother (family of prophets). Jesus’ similarity with Adam (Quranic) is not complete, whereas my similarity is complete.
7 ‘and when they see a sign, they walk away and say it is magic . . . . ‘ He says that since this Quranic verse is from Surah Al-Qamar and is related to the incident of the ‘splitting of the moon’, therefore it is related to the eclipses

MGA’s editors add the word knife to the Lekh Ram prophecy
We all know that this entire book is an edit-job by Ahmadiyya mullahs. We have noticed that they claim that when MGA initially wrote the Lekh ram prophecy he wrote that Lekh Ram would die via a knife.  This is a lie, MGA never wrote any such thing.  See the scan in the below:

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and Muqamat Al-Hariri

Intro
MGA had a team of writers, these writers would plagiarize all the time.  In the below, I have collected all data on MGA and his team and how they plagiarized from Muqamat Al-Hariri.  Our fellow Arab Ex-Ahmadi’s have exposed this in their writings, see Hani Tahir and Ikrima Najabi.
Brother Hani Taher and other Arab reverts have pointed out that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani’s famous Khutba Ilhamiyya does contain text from Al-Hariri’s Muqamat.  In this case, and all others, Ahmadi editors have tried to present things “after-the-fact”, and thus twist up the timeline of events.  We have, however, presented a true timeline in the below.  MGA barely knew any Arabic, all of the Imam’s of India knew this.  However, MGA would have his team write in Arabic on his behalf and thus fool people.  Another Ex-Ahmadi-arab, Ikrama Najami has recently highlighted lots of plagiarism here.  The black font is the original text of the Hariri, and blue coloured fonts are the stolen wording and phrases from the Hariri between (Brackets) and the name of the Mirza book that he used it after – this sign.  You can see clearly, that sometimes he used the same stolen wording in more that 5 times in his Arabic books.  ملف المقامات منشور – حتى 30 وورد (1)

It all started in 1897 with Hariri
Maulavi ‘Abdul Haq Ghaznavi wrote a poster against the MGA in which he raised the objection and challenged the knowledge of Arabic of MGA, and invited to hold a contest in Arabic with him so that the question could be established who knew Arabic better. MGA immediately accepted the offer of a contest and said that since he had no knowledge of Arabic and that he was an illiterate according to Maulavi ‘Abdul Haq Ghaznavi, if as a result of the contest he was overwhelmed in the debate, which would be nothing short of a miracle of God, then the Maulavi would have to offer his hand in bai‘at and join the Ahmadiyyah Jama‘at. Maulavi ‘Abdul Haq Ghaznavi and his friend, Shaikh Najfi, a Shia, remained silent and refused to honour his own invitation to hold a contest (see Hidden Treasures of Islam, pages 193-195).

MGA and his team then wrote Hujjatulla (God’s Final Argument) in Arabic with an Urdu translation (he began on March 17, 1897 and completed on May 26, 1897)
MGA then asked his opponents, particularly Maulavi ‘Abdul Haq Ghaznavi and Shaikh Najfi, (both had written letters to MGA and made assertions that he did not know Arabic) and Maulavi Muhammad Hussain Batalavi, to produce a book at least comparable to his Arabic and produce the like of it in the same manner within three or four months, then they can treat me as a liar.Further, they were welcome to enlist aid from anyone in producing a book of similar size, using prose and poem and invite Professor Maulavi ‘Abdullah or any one scholar who can swear that their written book was superior or even equal to mine in quality and the scholar swearing in such manner will be seized by divine punishment within 41 days, then if he survives I will burn all my books and will seek repentance on their hands, this will settle daily bickering between me and them and if they do not advance to accept the challenge then their falsehood would be exposed to public. He allowed them to appoint a professor of Arabic to act as a judge and let him make his award under solemn oath. MGA said if the adjudicator declared that the work of his opponents was superior to his, he would pray to God and if the judge was not then overtaken by the wrath of God within a period of 41 days, he would burn all his books and stand condemned. But no one had the courage to accept this daring challenge.

In this book, which bore the title of Hujjatullah, MGA spoke of the various signs which his God had shown in his favour. He also pointed out the error of his Shia opponents. In a graphic and eloquent manner he explained that the Shia beliefs were not right, because the Caliphs, Hadrat Abu Bakrra, Hadrat ‘Umar and Hadrat ‘Uthman, were the rightful Caliphs and Hadrat ‘Ali had acknowledged them so. (see Hidden Treasures of Islam, pages 193-195).

After Hujjatullah was published
MGA’s critics allege that several sentences and paragraphs in this text are taken directly without alteration, from Maqamat al-Hariri, the best known poetry collection of the Arabic scholar and poet Al-Hariri of Basra.  For this reason, his claim to divine instruction in Arabic is not accepted in Islamic Orthodoxy. Ahmadis, however, claim that the alleged instances of plagiarism are not true because Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had deliberately inserted the writings of Al-Hariri with his own and then openly declared that he had done as such as a challenge to his critics to compare and separate the two. His followers claim that as clearly stated by him in the beginning of his book Hujjatullah it was only after his use of Arabic was labelled inadequate, ungrammatical and ‘unchaste’ by his opponents that Ghulam Ahmad deliberately amalgamated his own writings with that of Al-Hariri‘s in order to expose his adversaries; whom he called upon to distinguish between his writings and that of Al-Hariri’s.

A quote from Hujjatullah
“””Thus the method which will free the people from his deception is that we present to him paragraphs from our writing and some other paragraphs from the writings of a great Arab writer while concealing the names of the authors, and then call upon him to tell us which paragraph out of this is ours and which is theirs, if you are truthful. Then if he recognizes my sayings and theirs and distinguishes between them as between a shell and its kernel, then we shall give him fifty rupees as a reward.”””

– Hujjatulla, pg. 4-5

By 1903, MGA considered himself as Hujjatulla
Interestingly enough, by 1903, MGA was calling himself as the Hujjatulla.

“”””Hadrat Hujjatullah [The Promised Messiah] may peace and blessings be on him, supplicated at Gurdaspur for those of his friends who were present there and also collectively for those who were not present. He prayed by name for those who were present or whose name he recalled, and also collectively for all members of the Jama‘at, whereupon he
received the revelation:

[Arabic] Then good news for the believers.

al-Hakam, vol. 7, no. 46, 47, December 17, 24, 1903, p. 15]

After MGA died, Ahmadi’s lied about MGA’s Arabic abilities

Maulana ‘Abdul-Karimra said: Hadrat Maulavi Hakim Nurud- Dinra…had started the construction of a large house in Bhera…. The construction had not yet been completed…when one day in the winter Maulavi [Hakim Nur-ud-Dinra] arrived in Qadian for a brief meeting with the Promised Messiahas. The same night the Promised Messiahas received a revelation (350) which indicated that Maulavi [Hakim Nur-ud-Dinra] should migrate to Qadian. Next morning he informed him of this and suggested that he should emigrate to Qadian and should not return home. This faithful one made no excuse. The house remained unfinished but this man of God did not go back. [Address of Maulana ‘Abdul-Karimra, al-Hakam, vol. 6, no. 32, September 10, 1902, p. 11].

349—

350--Hadrat Khalifatul Masih Ira mentioned this revelation in his autobiography which he dictated to Akbar Najib Abadi as following:

The Promised Messiahas told Maulavi ‘Abdul-Karimra: I have received a revelation concerning Nur-ud-Din. It is in the form of a couplet in the poem of Hariri:

[Do not go back to your homeland. You will face humiliation and suffering there.]
[Mirqatul-Yaqin Fi Hayate Nur-ud-Din]

See Page 1020

April 2, 1893 (1229)
The Promised Messiahas mentioned to Maulavi ‘Abdul- Karimra one day that he had received a revelation:
1230
[Arabic] [Do not be inclined towards your home, in that there are humiliation and trials.]

The Promised Messiah[as] said:

It appears that this revelation has reference to Nur-ud-Din.
[Appendix al-Badr, vol. 8, no. 40, July 29, 1909, p. 77 and Mirqatul-Yaqin FiHayat-e-Nur-ud-Din, p. 169].

1229– Note by Maulana Abdul Latif Bahawalpuri: This date is recorded in the Jaibi Bayad of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih Ira, but it does not record the year. However, we have entered 1893 here because it can be established based on firm evidence. For this reason we have entered it under this year. [See Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, vol. 1, p. 494, new ed., under the heading Faith Inspiring Event of the Migration of Maulana Nur-ud-Dinra]

1230 —Note by Syed Abdul Hayee: The Jaibi Bayad of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih Ira, page 149, records it as following: [Arabic] Do not be inclined towards your home, you will be treated with injustice and will face trials; And adds to it the next couplet of Hariri: [Arabic] Remember, a man of his own mind suffers a loss in his country.

After MGA died, Nuzul ul Masih was published (1909)
Ahmadiyya sources tell us that this was written in 1902 and published in 1909.  This book tells us how MGA’s opponents, specifically Pir Mehr Ali Shah were accusing MGA of plagiarizing from Hariri.

Maulvi Muhammad Ahsan Amrohi
“”Maulawi Muhammad Ahsan Sahib had a hasty nature. Once out for a walk with the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) he misheard the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) when he said there is a difference between word of God and word of man and said this is a revelation of mine compared to revelation of Hariri (an academic). Ahsan Sahib remarked how frivolous it was but as soon as he realised his mistake he instantly said what fine words they were.””  Friday Sermon of Mirza Masroor Ahmad, 7-24-15

In Mujadid-e-Azam, at page 337 Dr. Basharat
While giving detail of Molvi Nuruddin ,s shifting to Qadian, he writes that “Hazrat sahib told Molvi Abdul Karim that I have received a revelation about Molvi Nuruddin as under:-

لا تصبون الی الوطن۔ فیہہ تھان و تمتحن
In next lines the author says this couplet is present in AL-HARIRI.
