Intro
Also spelled as the “Dhus-Sineen”, MGA began mentioning it in 1893 and by 1900, MGA alleged that the arrival of this star was stated in the “ahadith” (See Arba’in, online English edition, page 85). However, MGA never gave any reference. In 2019, Ahmadiyya editors alleged that this “ahadith” is from Mullah Muhammed Baakir Majlisi’s Bihaar-ul-Anwaar and Ali Ibn-Ibrahiim Al-Qummii’s Tafsir Al-Qummii, Surah Muhammad 47:18. These references have not been found or verified. Ahmadiyya editors also quote Kitab al-Fitan by Naim ibn Hammad. Dhus Sineen is also called “Zul sineen sitara” and “dumdar sitara” (star with a tail).

In 1893, MGA began speaking about a star which was visible during the time of Eisa (as) and was being shown to the people of Europe. (See Aina Kamalat-e-Islam, Ruhani Khazain V-5, pages 110-112, footnote, via The Saviour of the Latter Days: Signs of the Messiah | The Review of Religions). 

In 1897-1898, MGA alleged the “Dhus-Sineen” star was visible and was a sign of Mahdi (See Ayyam-us-Sulah, Ruhani Khaza’in, Vol. 14, p. 281). MGA even alleges that it had appeared 1900 years earlier via Eisa (As) and 3000 years earlier via Musa (As).

In fact, in Haqiqatul Wahi (1906-1907), MGA made an entirely separate prophecy on a fiery comet, which failed.

By 1908, MGA was arguing that, “Nawab Siddiq Hassan Khan Sahib wrote in Hijajul Kirama and Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Sani stated in his book that a star with a tail, i.e. Dhus-Sineen [comet] would appear at the time of the advent of the Promised Mahdi. Thus, that star appeared in 1882.” (Chashma-e-Ma‘rifat, Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 23, p. 330).

In 2019, via a Friday sermon, Mirza Masroor mentioned the “Dhus-Sineen”.

Another unique sign of a sitara dhus-sineen (star that appears after many years) or a dumdar sitara (star with a tail), also known as the great comet, appeared in the time of the Promised Messiahas according to the prophecy of the Holy Prophetsa. Referring to the time prior to the advent of the Mahdi, Hazrat Kaabra narrates:

نَجْمٌ يَطْلُعُ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ يُضِيءُ كَمَا يُضِيءُ الْقَمَرُ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ

“A bright star will rise from the east, shining as the moon shines on the night of the full moon.”
