Intro
In “Khutbah Ilhamiya” (1900), MGA called himself as the “Khatam-ul-Wilayat” (this is in terms of Wahi-i-Wilayat, the revelations/ilhams of the saints). However, MGA never qualified this statement, did MGA mean, “the best” of the saints, or “the last” of the saints? MGA did say that he is the “Khatam-ul-Wilayat” the same way that Muhammad (Saw) is the Khatam un Nabiyeen (See pages 53-54 of the online english edition).

In 1899-1902, via Tiryaq-ul-Qulub, MGA called himself the Last Mahdi, who is also the “Khatam-ul-Wilayat”.

“The perfect spirituality sometimes manifests in the chosen ones of God to the extent that their acts are influenced wholly by it. In sufi terminology, this state is called baruz (manifestation). In the commentary of Fusus al-Hikam, an illustration of the term baruz has it that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), is the alpha and omega of this universe in as much as he manifested himself in Adam when this world was created. In other words, the spirituality of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, transcended in Adam and shall re-appear in the Khatam al-wilayah, the Mahdi, towards the close of this world, and marvellous feats and performances shall occur at his hands. Transliteration
“”Zaroor ho, kay vo shaks, jispay bakamalo tamam dhoray haqeeqatay adamiyyat khutum ho, voh khatam ul aulad ho, yanee iskee maut kay baad koy kamul insaan kissee aurat kay payt say na nickle-ay, ab yad rayhay kay is bundahay, hazrat hadiyat kee paidaish jismani issee paishan goi kay mutabak hoi hay….”””

Translation
“”For surely, that person, upon whom the many real cycles of Adam have finished with, he is also the last of his offspring (khatam ul Aulad), in other words, after his death no competent human, could ever be born from a woman’s stomach. And remember, that this person, hazrat hadiyat’s birth will be spiritual….””

What is “Tiryaq ul Qulub” by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1899-1902)? – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog

Transliteration
“”maira baad, maira waldan kay gar, koy larkee ya larka nay howa, aur main unkayleeyay khatamum aulad tha, jis kay baad koy aur nay eye, wo hota hay khatam, yay mairee paidash ka vo turz hai, jis ko baaz ahl-e-kashf nay mahdi khatam-ul-wilayat kee alamtau may leekha hay, aur byan kee-a hai, kay vo akhree mahdi, jis kee wafat kay baad, aur koy Mahdi nay paida ho gah…”

Translation
“”…after me, in my parent’s house, no girl or boy arrived (were born), I was for them, the final of the offspring (Khatam ul Aulaud), after whom, no one came (arrived or was born), this is that final (khatam) means. This was the story of my birth, which some people who get Kashf have called the Mahdi, the Khatam-ul-Wilayat, it is written as such, and explained that this person will be the last Mahdi, and after his death, no Mahdi will ever be born….”””

MGA calls himself the Final Barooz of Adam (as).

Transliteration
“”Jis kudder akabir aur arif mujsay palay guzeraray hay, vo tammam akhree Adam ko Wilayat-e-amma ka khatam sumauj tai hai, aur haqeeqat e Adamiyyat ka Baroozat ka tammam daie-ra isspay khutum kartay hai, aur ghushufay sahee-a kee ruh say, isse ka naam akhree adam rakhtay hain, aur isee ka naum mahdi e maodd or maseeh e maud rakhtay hain….”””

Translation
“”All of the intelligent/competent people who came before me were all in agreement that the Last Adam would be the finisher and in reality was the Barooz of the cycle of Adam’s, and they finished upon him (MGA), and with a pure spirit, his name is also the last Adam and the same name is the Promised Mahdi and Promised Messiah…”

MGA declared Prophet Muhammad PBUH as seal of the Prophethood and to himself as seal of the sainthood. MGA called himself the Khatam ul Wilayat (the person who ends the cycle of Wali’s). Just like Muhammad (saw) was the finisher (Khatam) of the cycle of prophets, and he is the Khatam ul Anbiya and I am the Khatamul Auliya.
