Tafsīr Muqātil, one the oldest “Tafsir’s on the Quran, acknowledges that Esa (as) hasn’t died yet

Intro
As we keep finding more and more info that proves that the vast majority of Muslims always believed that Esa (as) would physically return, we see more and more evidence that proves the falsity of the Ahmadiyya doctrine on this matter.  In this specific case, Upal has written in his book the same as my assertions on the scholarly consensus on Esa (as), and his escape from the cross.  Upal goes on to quote Robinson, who quotes one of the oldest Tafsir’s as follows:

The quote

“””Tafsīr Muqātil accepts that tawaffā refers to God causing a human to die, but he insists that theQuran uses it for Jesus only in reference to his death in the end times, after his return to earth…Some interpreters, Tabarī notes, are of the opinion that when the Quran applies tawaffā to Jesus it refers not to death but to sleep… According to a second opinion, however, tawaffā – when it applies to Jesus – is synonymous instead with qabada, “to seize”; that is, with this term the Quran is not referring to Jesus falling asleep before God took him into heaven, but rather to the act of God taking Jesus into heaven, or to the moment when God took hold of Jesus before raising him to heaven. These two views of tawaffā, of course, redound to precisely the same doctrine about Jesus. In both cases the interpreters are eager to prove that the presence of the verb tawaffā can be reconciled with the doctrine that Jesus did not die, that he was taken body and soul into heaven, whence he will return… Still Tabarī also cites a third view, that tawaffā – even in the case of Jesus –can only mean “to make die”. Most traditions that reflect this view reconcile it, as Tafsīr Muqātil does, with the doctrine of Jesus’ eschatological return. If in sūrat āl ʿImrān (3) 55 tawaffā appears before Jesus’ ascension, then this verse must be read with hysteron proteron or taqdīm al-mu’akhkhar. Yet Tabarī also notes that some scholars concede Jesus did indeed die. One tradition to this effect insists that he was dead for three hours (another version has seven hours). In the end, however, Tabarī declares his support for the second view, that tawaffā refers in the Quran to God taking hold of Jesus. He justifies this position by referring to the preponderance of hadīth in support of it, but there are other factors at play here. First, for Tabarī the doctrine of Jesus’ eschatological return is beyond any doubt. This leads him to reason, in light of quranic passages which imply that a person can only die once (cf. Q 6.60; 19.33), that Jesus must have been preserved from death. In other words, if Jesus is to return in the eschaton to finish his life and die, then the view that Jesus has already died must perforce be rejected. (Reynolds 2009:247-248)”””(also see Upal. “Moderate Fundamentalist” (2017).

Even Abu Jafar al-Tabari, the father of Quranic exegetists, claimed that Esa (as) hasn’t died yet

Intro
I have written about this topic over and over again, that is 4:159 or 4:160 in the Ahmadiyya Quran’s. Further, the vast majority of Islamic scholars and writers over the past 1400 years have agreed on the idea that Esa (as) hasn’t died yet or will come to the Earth and die like regular prophets/humans. In this case, I have found yet another authority on Islamic scholarship, al-Tabari giving his comments on this topic.

Recently, a Qadiani tried to quote Ibn Jarir at speaker’s corner, check it out herein. This was also discussed by the brother Al-Yemeni vs. Razi, (43:17) time stamp. In the below we have multiple quotes from Tafsir al-Tabari which prove that Muslims always believed that Eisa (as) was substituted and never on the cross, and he will physically return. We also have Tabari on 43:61 (see in the below). Remember, MGA called At-Tabari as the chief of the Mufassireen.

In 1880, Khan published first volume of his tafsir–and he asserted that Esa (as) was dead…..MGA copied, via Nooruddin

Intro
I have been making this point ever since I read Nuzhat Haneef’s book on Ahmadiyya back in the mid-2000’s.  I have made countless blog entries, read those:

The Quote
“””The Quran makes mention of Jesus’ death in four places… Firstly in Sura Aal Imran, secondly in Sura Ma’ida, … thirdly in Sura Maryam… fourthly in Sura Nisa’. Jesus was not killed by the Jews, either by stoning or by crucifixion, but he died his natural death, and God raised him in rank and status… From the first three verses it is clear that Jesus died a natural death.” (Khan, 1880: 48).

The Review of Religions of 1984 was asserting MGA’s prediction on Piggot, i.e. that Piggot would die in MGA’s lifetime

Intro
As we continue to collect data and post it on the story of Piggot and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and the subsequent “cover-up” job that was done by Ahmadiyya, we keep finding more and more information which proves that MGA failed in this prophecy, and all others. In this instance, we have found an article in the ROR of August-1984 by Syed Hasanat Ahmad, he also wrote “Hakeem Noorudin”, which can be found here:  https://www.alislam.org/library/books/noor-ud-deen/hakeem-noor-ud-deen.pdf.

I am reproducing an entire article which is from the Review of Religions of 1984. This article was re-produced on the official Qadiani-Ahmadi website alislam.org.  It can be found here, (retrieved on 10-5-17), https://www.alislam.org/library/links/00000213.html

**However, it should be noted that Shaikh Mubarak Ahmad wrote the section about Piggot, its in his foreword to the article.

“The present Condition of Christendom calls for a prophet”—Review of Religions July 1911

Intro
In the ROR of July-1911 (see pages 283-291), edited by Maulvi Sher Ali (and Maulvi Muhammad Ali, who was busy in this era), there is an essay which argues that a prophet was needed in this age and thus MGA is that prophet.

Quotes

Page 288

“Who can then breathe life into this dead world of ours?  Who can bring back to this earth the faith that has departed from it?  The mere preaching of a book will not do.  None but a prophet can regenerate this earth.  Prophets have breathed life into dead humanity in the past and if the world is to be regenerated now, it must be regenerated by a prophet.  That prophet has already appeared.  It was Ahmad of Qadian……….”

On page 290

“In short, the present condition of Christendom called for a prophet.  The world was so sunk in error and vice that none but a prophet could regerate it.  It has even been a law of God to raise a prophet when vice and error have corrupted the world and it was in accordance with that law that He raised Ahmad in the present ages.  The very fact that the present age sorely needed a prophet is an evidence of his truth.  God spoke to him as He spoke to…………..”

On page 291

“…so God raised a prophet in this age…..”

The final paragraph of this article says:

“lastly Muhammad….”

Ahmad as a Prophet—Review of Religions of April 1913

Intro
A series of articles appeared in the Review of Religions of 1913-1914 entitled, “Ahmad as a Prophet”, they continued even after the split. In fact, interestingly enough in early 1914, Muhammad Ali, who was editor of the ROR in those days (while he was writing his commentary on the Quran, Sher Ali took over as editor), he added an asterisk before the word *Prophet and thus made it seem like Prophet was being used figuratively only. Nonetheless, in the below I have reproduced a few quotations for my readership.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad wrote that Piggot would not repent

Intro
Dear readers, as I continue to collect data on Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and Piggot it becomes more and more obvious that Ahmadis lie “ad-nauseam”, its never ending. They are willing to go to any length to cover-up the indiscretions of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his failed prophecies.
In a previous essay, I proved that nowadays, Ahmadis are asserting that Piggot repented and thus the prophecy was avoided. However, this contradicts MGA, since MGA wrote specifically that Piggot would never repent.

In 1907, Ahmadiyya newspapers were still asserting that Piggot would die before MGA

Intro
As my readership knows, we have been discussing the story of “Piggot and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad” in the Facebook discussion forum. The Ahmadi that we have been discussing this with, he knew nothing about this entire story before we mentioned it to him, however, he won’t admit to this fact or any fact for that matter. Ahmadis are taught to be defensive and never admit to anything in any conversations with their critics or even those who are neutral. Anyhow, this Ahmadi didn’t conduct his own research, he searched the internet and found the “cover-up” job by Ahmadiyya leadership, wherein it is falsely asserted that Piggot repented from his claims of Godhood after 1904, and thus MGA’s death prediction from 1902 was averted. However, this is a false argument. Piggot never repented. Nonetheless, Ahmadiyya leadership went out of its way to doctor-up a false and misleading interview with Dr. Shweiso and Nick Barratt, wherein they used slick camera techniques and voice-overs to make it look like these people agreed with the Ahmadiyya position, i.e. that Piggot repented. However, its a total lie, orchestrated by Ahmadiyya leadership in an attempt to vindicate Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
