Mirza Masroor Ahmad and his team of writers/business managers are also guilty of a “land-leasing-scheme” wherein Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat International (AMJI) gives Mirza Sharif Ahmad Foundation (MSAF) a loan to buy properties. In turn, MSAF is buying properties and leasing them (at least some of them, i.e., Islamabad) back to AMJI. For instance, Islamabad has been leased back to AMJI for 99 years in a deal worth £34.5m. There are possibly also other properties that are leased back to AMJI . According to my understanding, MSAF and AMJI are completely separate entities. You can’t invest into charities which means the trustees of MSAF are basically in control. This means that the AMJI has actually no control over MSAF once the debt has been paid back. Secondly, from a business perspective, for AMJI it’s a very shitty deal. That’s why they emphasized that the debt given to MSAF is a social investment as the charity is supposedly used for giving money to the deserving and poor. Imagine giving someone many tens of millions of pounds and getting them back decades later without any actual profit or control (i.e., equity rights). Inflation alone is going to make it a very bad deal.
It should also be noted that the monies collected from Pakistan don’t funnel into AMJI, instead they are stored overseas in tax free havens like Panama.
