Intro
Allegedly, in 1989-1990, Ahmadiyya sources tell us that Hafiz Jibrael, the first Missionary of the community came to the islands in roughly 1989-1990. They allege to have gotten Sam Ali Nena to convert from Christianity. Sam Ali Nena is the first President of the Ahmadiyya Community in the Marshall Islands in 2014. We have found the story of the first ever native convert to Ahmadiyya, and it is very telling.
In 2012, it seems that the Ahmadiyya Movement abruptly built a temple on the island. This seems to have been via Humanity First-USA. The person who got paid to build this temple also converted to Ahmadiyya. However, the man is illiterate and most likely never joined Ahmadiyya sincerely. Some Marshallese have immigrated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in this era too and then ran off.
In 2017, Maulvi Qasim Choudhary was assigned to work in the Marshall islands.
In 2023, there are no sincere Ahmadi’s on the entire island and barely 5-10 people pretending to be Ahmadi’s for the perks that they get.
In late Dec-2024, Maulvi Sajid Iqbal was relieved of his duties and replaced by Maulvi Qasim Choudhary, they can be seen outside of the Uliga mosque in Delap-Uliga-Djarrit, Majuro, Marshall Islands.
In 2025, the Ahmadiyya Movement launched a marketing event via helping local fisherman.

HILARY HOSIA
The Ahmadiyya Marshallese Muslim community in Uliga welcomed a new Imam this month: Imam Qasim Choudhary. Imam Qasim is replacing Imam Sajid Iqbal, who has served as the Ahmadiyya leader since 2017.
Imam Sajid has been appointed to Austin, Texas as his next station. The current Imams in Kiribati and Federated States of Micronesia are also beginning their service in the region the same time as Sajid, are also being replaced and reassigned.
The Ahmadiyya mosque in Uliga was built in 2012. At the time, the presence of Ahmadi Muslims in Majuro was small numbers in Uliga. During the ensuing years, the community has gained over 100 members, many of whom have migrated to the US in recent years.
The current number of Ahmadi Marshallese in Majuro is close to 60.
Like many religions in Majuro, the Ahmadiyya Community offer various charity and services to members and non-members alike. One visual contribution to Majuro is the clean up the community does every New Year’s Day after the Block Party. The community is a strong believer of putting kids in school and has made contributions for school uniforms and supplies. The kitchen at the mosque is open for members and non-members in the neighborhood. Another attractive attribute of the community is the free internet at the mosque often given to visiting fishermen or passersby.
