In this video (see on TikTok and Twitter), an Ahmadi Maulvi can be seen giving guidance on how Ahmadi women are expected to wear the scarf. The Ahmadi Maulvi says that the current Khalifa (Mirza Masroor Ahmad) has advised that by the age of 5, Ahmadi women should not wear a sleeveless frock or one without leggings. At the ages of 6-7, he says something indiscernible about the leggings. Until the age of 10, the scarf should be taught as practical and daily and by the age of 11, the scarf should be fully implemented. Mirza Masroor Ahmad also said that if a small girl looks older, she should begin wearing the scarf. This is how he advises that the scarf should be taught, via practice. He explains that this is “haya” (a feeling of shame, modesty, or bashfulness, often translated as “shyness”), he is trying to foster a sense of “haya” in Ahmadi women, which he alleges will make them chaste. And women who don’t cover up, they are causing their own disrespect. And an Ahmadi woman should practice protecting her “haya”.
Ironically, the video of Nida Al-Nasser is also shown simultaneously, Nida is roughly 7-11 years old and wearing a dress with no scarf. To be fair, she is inside of her own home and with her grandfather. However, the body language in the video shows a deeper crime. Nevertheless, Nida doesn’t seem to have ever cared or conformed to any Ahmadi purdah requirements.
