Intro
2:233 of the Quran tells Muslims that the man is responsible to cloth and feed his children, even in the case of divorce (see Ibn Kathir), in the 5-volume official english translation of the Quran (by the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s), the same argument is given. Furthermore, a major theme of the Quran is justice, this means justice in everything, dealing with children, wives, business endeavors and everything you do in life.

“Every one of you is a caretaker, and every one of you will be held accountable for what is the responsibility of his care: A leader is a keeper, he will be held accountable for what is the responsibility of his care. A man is also a keeper in his family, he will be held accountable for what is the responsibility of his care. And a woman is a keeper in her husband’s home, she will be held accountable for what is the responsibility of her care.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, according to a hadith (prophetic narration) narrated by ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Umar, “… and your child has rights over you.”
