Intro
Mufti Muhammad Sadiq and other Ahmadi editors lied about white converts to Ahmadiyya from Europe and America in the 1920’s and 30‘s. Charles Sievwright is a famous case, he disappeared after meeting MGA in 1906 at Qadian. He reappeared in 1921 in California and via the Moslem Sunrise magazine. It should be understood that Dr. Sufi Muhammad Yusuf was the Ahmadi Maulvi who focused on converting Blacks to Ahmadiyya and was very successful.
Another case is that of Mrs. Augusta Atkinson, who’s face appeared in the Moslem Sunrise of July-1930. She was mentioned as a donor for the Moslem Sunrise, in the Moslem Sunrise of Oct-1931/Jan-1932, the Moslem Sunrise of Apr-July-1932 and the Moslem Sunrise of Apr/July-1933 (published in Oct-1933). She never appeared in any Ahmadiyya history thereafter. Even Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman Bengali had never met her and only posted her photo. Interestingly, Hoffert (Andrew T. Hoffert, “The Moslem Movement in America,” The Moslem World, 20 (1930): 309) tells us that Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman came to the USA to specifically work with the whites and get them to convert to Ahmadiyya. Hoffert claims that there was only 12 white Ahmadi’s in Chicago and 80-90 across the USA. Hoffert also mentions Mr. G.A. Zandra in Hollywood, California. Zandra was semi famous in the USA for answering questions and pretending to be a Muslim Mystic. He appeared in 100’s of American newspapers from roughly 1925 to 1940. In 1929-1930, the Ahmadiyya Movement alleged that he had converted to Ahmadiyya (See ROR, Sep-Oct-1930). However, this was short lived and what seems to be a publicity stunt, by 1934, he was back to being “ask Zandra” and made lots of money doing it. Zandra told “The Riverside Daily Press” of Wed, Jul 10, 1929 ·Page 9 that his father was white British Army officer, and Zandra was born on the banks of the Benares River in India.
Nina Stauffer was also a white female (seems to be a convert)(I think). She has an essay in the Oct-1932-Jan-1933 edition of the Moslem Sunrise. She has another essay (Islam and Science) in the April-July-1933 edition of the Moslem Sunrise. And in Oct-Jan-1934, entitled, “Islam in the Renaissance”. And in March-1935, “Points of Interest in Muhammad’s Career”.
