Intro
On November 20, 1932, Robert Harris (who had received the name Robert Karriem from Fard and was a member of the “Allah Temple of Islam”) escorted James J. Smith into a room with a makeshift altar. In the audience were twelve adult witnesses as well as Harris’ wife and children. Smith, who believed he was being inducted into the Allah Temple of Islam, was asked if he would sacrifice his life for Islam, and Smith nodded his assent. Harris then stabbed Smith in the chest and proceeded to bludgeon him to death with an axle rod (See Evanszz, p.84-85 and Beynon (1938), pp. 903–04). After neighbors called the police, Harris was arrested. Under questioning, he confessed to the murder, saying “I had to kill somebody, I could not forsake my gods”. This is also mentioned in Dannin.
Police initiated a manhunt for Fard and another leader, Ugan Ali, who were arrested and questioned. Harris was deemed insane and committed to a mental hospital. “The society cannot be blamed for anything he did,” Ali was quoted in the Detroit News, November 23, 1932. Fard and Ugan Ali, who acknowledged leadership of the ATI but vehemently denied any teaching of human sacrifice, were examined by psychiatrist David Clark who recommended they be committed for further observation. A judge agreed, and both Fard and Ugan Ali were placed in straitjackets and confined in padded cells. With Fard and Ugan Ali still in custody five days after the murder, Elijah Karriem (the future Elijah Muhammad) led over 200 members into the Court Building and staged a protest on the main floor, with police spending a full day to get the protesters out.
On November 25, Harris was arraigned on charges of first-degree murder; He pleaded guilty, but his bizarre courtroom behavior convinced witnesses of his insanity. On December 6, three psychiatrists testified that Harris was legally insane, and he was committed to the Ionia State Hospital for the Criminal Insane; he died there on June 19, 1935. Faced with criminal charges, Ugan Ali was released after promising to help disband the Allah Temple of Islam, while Fard agreed to forever leave Detroit as a condition of release. However, theDetroit courts seem to have orchestrated Elijah Poole coming into power as the new leader. Farad Wallace and Ugan Ali was ordered to leave Detroit and never come back, at which point Farad Wallace moved to Chicago and started setting up a temple therein.
In 1933 (May-25th), Wallace Farad was caught in Detroit and arrested. Via the Detroit Evening Times of May 26-1933, Wallace Farad (33 years old) was caught in Detroit and arrested on May 25-1933. The headline was as follows, “Voodoo Chief Back in Cell”. Wallace Farad said that he had 20,000 new followers in Chicago. Wallace Farad also told the police that he had 10,000 followers in Detroit. Thus, Wallace Farad was in Chicago in early 1933 and most likely interacting with the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s therein and Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman Bengali and Yusuf Khan. Ugan Ali was not mentioned again. Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman Bengali also alleged to have 20,000 Ahmadi’s in the USA.
In 1934, Elijah Muhammad opened up the Muhammad University of Islam and temple at 3335 State St, Detroit, MI (See the Detroit Free Press of Apr-19-1934). The Voodoo cults headquarters were at 3408 Hastings St, Detroit. The newspaper were shockingly announcing how many police officers were beaten severely. In the Detroit Free Press of Apr-29-1934, W.D. Fard is mentioned as the prophet/savior of this voodooo cult of negroes and Elijah Muhammad is listed as the pastor.

Even though the article doesn’t say it, nor does the newspaper, the heading herein reads how Elijah Poole took over the “The Temple of Allah” in late 1932. This has to do with Robert Harris and he was killing people on behalf of the “The Temple of Allah”. The newspaper reports that Wallace Farad has helped the police and courts shut down his cult. Ugan Ali is named as the most prominent follower of Farad.
