Intro
In the Cleveland Call and Post of 1934, there are many reports of Ahmadiyya activity in Braddock, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, “Mother Mosque”, Youngstown, Colombus, Dayton, Akron, Steubenville and Cincinnati. Most of the reports which mentioned Abdullah Farook are from the “Mother Mosque”, which seems to be in Pittsburgh, there seems to be a few locations in and around Pittsburgh, like Braddock.
On Mar-29, the Ahmadi’s of Pittsburgh gave Yusuf Khan a farewell ceremony, with 300+ attending. Some of which were Sh. Nasir Ahmad, Sh. Abdul Wahab, Sh. Abid Haque, Sh. Saeed Akmal and Sh. Abdullah Farook. Sh. Abdullah Farook was made in-charge of the Pittsburgh mission. His name disappears after May-1934.
In the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Jan 13, 1934 ·Page 4, there is a report of Ahmadiyya activity at “The Mother Mosque” by Saadi Malik, reporter. On Sunday night, Dec-31-1933, Abdullah Farook, Abdul Rasool and Dr. M.Y. Khan gave speeches.
In the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Jan 20, 1934 ·Page 4, there is a report of Ahmadiyya activity at “The Mother Mosque” by Shaikh Saadi Malik. The “Mother Mosque” is called the “First Mosque”. There was great enjoyment on Jan-7-1934, Mohammed Omar was back in town after being gone for some time and gave a lecture on “The Invisible Vision”. This was followed by a lecture by Shaikh Wali Dod. Shaikh Wali Dod talked about Islam. Dr. M.Y. Khan also gave a speech. Shaikh Wali Dod is referred to as God and as working with Abdullah Farook and the people of the South Side. Abid Haque and Nemaat Islam are also mentioned.
In Feb-1934, (24th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque”, the main headline is “Among the Moslems”, a photo of MGA is also affixed. On Sunday night, Feb-11 at 730PM, speeches were given by Shaikh Abu Saleh, brother Abdullah Farook and Dr. Khan’s cousin, Brother Ali. They spoke about the Negro’s place in America and its solution. Classes are being conducted. Shaikh Wali Dod continues to work with Ahmadi’s in the “South Side”.
In the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Mar 03, 1934 ·Page 2, there is a report of Ahmadiyya activity under the subheading, “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque”. On Sunday night, Feb-18-1934, there were speeches by Shaikh Wali Dod, Abu Saleh and Abdulla Farook.
In Mar-1934, (17th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque”, the main headline is “Among the Moslems”, a photo of MGA is also affixed. On March-4-1934, Farook was the master of ceremonies, Dr. Khan gave a speech about black people and why they should do. Shaikh Wali Dod is still instructing members of the “South side”, and in the footsteps of the Head Mosque. Ahmadism?

Shaikh Saadi Malik alleges that there were 3 speakers on Sunday night, March-10. Brother Juma (Jamal) Azeem, Imam Abu Saleh and Shaikh Abdullah Farook. “The Meaning of Divine Revelation” was discussed by Brother Juma (Jamal) Azeem. Imam Abu Saleh was mostly the master of ceremonies. The 3rd speaker was Shaikh Abdullah Farook. Shaikh Wali Dod is mentioned as someone who is working with Moslems in the “South Side”.
In the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Apr 07, 1934 ·Page 2, Sh. Abdul Farook is mentioned under the subheadings of “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque” and “The Cleveland Mosque”. Under the Cleveland Mosque, there is a report on Ahmadiyya activity in Cleveland by Yusuf Khan. Yusuf Khan announces that “his” headquarters is moving from Pittsburgh (includes Braddock?) to 5311 Woodland Ave, Cleveland, Ohio. Yusuf Khan says that Pittsburgh (includes Braddock?) was his headquarters for 4 years (since 1930). Yusuf Khan alleges to have faced bitter opposition to Ahmadiyya in these 4 years. Yusuf Khan alleges that there are 11 men and 1 woman who are carrying on his mission. On Mar-29, the Ahmadi’s of Pittsburgh gave Yusuf Khan a farewell ceremony, with 300+ attending. Some of which were Sh. Nasir Ahmad, Sh. Abdul Wahab, Sh. Abid Haque, Sh. Saeed Akmal and Sh. Abdullah Farook. Sh. Abdullah Farook was made in-charge of the Pittsburgh mission. Yusuf Khan tells the Ahmadi’s of Cleveland that they need to pay! Yusuf Khan tells the Ahmadi’s of Cleveland that in Ahmadiyya, if you don’t pay for 3 months, kick them out! Yusuf Khan is scheduled to tour Cincinnati soon. Under the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque”, Shaikh Saadi Malik alleges that during the week of March-26-1934, Rahmat Mahmood gave a speech, as well as Shaikh Farook and Dr. Khan. Dr. M.Y. Khan gave his FINAL lecture at the Mother Mosque, Shaikh Nasir Ahmad (working at the Cleveland Mosque) was also there. Shaikh Saeed Akmal from Braddock was also there. Shaikh Nasir Ahmad is scheduled to work therein for 2-weeks, people were sad to see Dr. M.Y. Khan leave.

Shaikh Saadi Malik tells us that on Sunday night, Apr-1-1934, Shaikh Abdullah Farook, Abu Saleh, Shaikh Saadi Malik and Nasir Ahmad spoke. Shaikh Saadi Malik gave a speech on “Ahmadism will set you free”. Shaikh Ahmad also spoke (Shaikh Nasir Ahmad?). Shaikh Wali Dod is mentioned as someone who is working with Moslems in the “South Side” and teaching them Arabic (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Apr 14, 1934 ·Page 2).
In Apr-1934, (21st), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the headline “Among the Moslems”, the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque” a photo of M. Yusuf Khan is also affixed (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Apr 21, 1934 ·Page 2). Shaikh Nasir Ahmad spoke. Abdullah Farook was the master of ceremonies. A certain sister, Wali Dod gave a little entertainment on Saturday night.
In Apr-1934, (28th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the headline “Among the Moslems”, the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque” a photo of M. Yusuf Khan is also affixed. Shaikh Saadi Malik reports that on Sunday night, Apr-15, at the First Mosque, speakers were Shaikh Farook Abdullah, Rahmat Mahmood and Mustafa, Shaikh Saadi Malik was the Master of Ceremonies. MGA is referred to as Prophet Ahmad (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Apr 28, 1934 ·Page 2).
In May-1934, (5th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the headline “Among the Moslems”, the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Mother Mosque” a photo of M. Yusuf Khan is also affixed. On Sunday night, Apr-22-1934, Shaikh Rasheed Hassan, Shaikh Farook and Shaikh Wahab gave speeches. Shaikh Farook was as usual, the master of ceremonies. Arabic is being taught in the classes. The Ahmadi’s of the “South Side” are being instructed by the Pleasant Shaikh Wali Dod. (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, May 5, 1934 ·Page 2).
In May-1934, (12th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the headline “Among the Moslems”, the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Pittsburgh Mosque” a photo of M. Yusuf Khan is also affixed. Shaikh Saadi Malik reports that Shaikh ilm Deen was there and gave a speech on Sunday night, Apr-29. Shaikh ilm Deen spoke about a proposed mosque at Steubenville Mosque. Shaikh Farook and Brother Rasool gave speeches. Shaikh Yoanas Waheed (Yunus Waheed?) was also there. Shaikh Wali Dod is mentioned as someone who is working with Moslems in the “South Side” and teaching them Arabic. It is also announced that Dr. M.Y. Khan will be at the Mosque soon (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, May 12, 1934 ·Page 2).
In May-1934, (19th), Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote a report under the headline “Among the Moslems”, the sub-heading “Proceedings of the Pittsburgh Mosque” a photo of M. Yusuf Khan is also affixed. Shaikh Saadi Malik alleges that Dr. M.Y. Khan returned to 1800 Center Ave, Shaikh Farook and Shaikh Rasool were also there. Dr. M.Y. Khan gave a lengthy speech (See Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, May 19, 1934 ·Page 2).
In May-1934 (26th), on the “The Church and Religion” page of the newspaper, under the heading. “Among the Moslems”, with several sub-headings like “Akron Mosque” and “Proceedings at the Pittsburgh Mosque”. No photos were given at all. Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote under the “Proceedings at the Pittsburgh Mosque”, Malik alleges that Shaikh Wali Dod was a speaker as well as brother Kadeer and Shaikh Abdullah Farook. This is also called the “First Mosque”.
In June-1934 (9th), On the “The Church and Religion” page of the newspaper, under the heading. “Among the Moslems”, with several sub-headings like “Dayton Mosque” and “Proceedings at the Pittsburgh Mosque”. No photos were given at all. Shaikh Saadi Malik wrote under the “Proceedings at the Pittsburgh Mosque”, on Sunday night, May-20-1934, Jumal (jamal) Azeem spoke as did Brother Kadeer and Shaikh Farook. Most generalizations. In Aug-1934, Shaikh Saadi Malik reports that on the past Sunday Night, July-29th, at the Central Mosque in Pittsburgh, a brother from Philadelphia, Brother Hakeem Abdul Mohammad. On Aug-5, the speakers were Brother Saleh, Brother Rasul, Shaikh Akmal and Shaikh Farook. On Tuesday night, July-31, Shaikh Nasir Ahmad returned from Philadelphia and then he is off to Cleveland (See the Cleveland Call and Post of Sat, Aug 11, 1934 ·Page 5).
