Intro
Even in 2025, Ahmadi’s believe that Hell is like a hospital, like a mother with an infant (See Mirza Tahir Ahmad in 1986). However, it seems that MGA never said this and this was stolen from the Jews by Mirza Tahir Ahmad.

In 1896, via “Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam”, MGA and his team quoted 4:10 of the Quran (4:11 in the Kadiani Koran) and alleged that in Islam the description of the punishment for those who steal property is a blazing fire. MGA argues that this punishment teaches its adherents to be morally upright and listed this scenario as 1 out of 5 ways to maintain chastity in humans (See page 51). MGA also explains how a person can withhold their property from an orphan or a minor who hasn’t came into his senses and etc. However, a few pages later, in terms of 76:4 of the Quran (See ibn Kathir)(76:5 in the Kadiani Koran), MGA alleged that the “blazing fire” (wa sagheera) only means that for those who reject the truth and have no inclination towards accepting it, not an actual fire (See page 120, “Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam”). Ahmadi’s also allege that via 101:09 (101:10 in the Kadiani Koran), means that Hell is like a mother (fa-ummohoo) with her infant, and have mistranslated the verse accordingly. However, per Ibn Kathir, the verse can be translated as Hell is your mother (His mother will be Hawiyah.) It has been said that this means he will be falling and tumbling headfirst into the fire of Hell, and the expression `his mother’ has been used to refer to his brain (as it is the mother of his head). A statement similar to this has been reported from Ibn `Abbas, `Ikrimah, Abu Salih and Qatadah. Qatadah said, “He will fall into the Hellfire on his head.” Abu Salih made a similar statement when he said, “They will fall into the Fire on their heads.” It has also been said that it means his mother that he will return to and end up with in the Hereafter will be Hawiyah, which is one of the names of the Hellfire. Ibn Jarir said, “Al-Hawiyah is only called his mother because he will have no other abode except for it.” Ibn Zayd said, “Al-Hawiyah is the Fire, and it will be his mother and his abode to which he will return, and where he will be settled.”

In 1907 (March), MGA and his team of writers alleged that Hell is not forever. This belief is completely wrong and is wholly opposed to the Holy Quran and the Hadith. It is proven from
the Holy Quran that after passing through a period of punishment in Hell, man will gradually be saved from the torment of Hell (See Malfuzat-9, online English edition, pages 201-204,
Badr, vol. 6, no. 13, p. 4, dated 28 March 1907).

In 1917, via Maulvi Muhammad Ali’s famous commentary, via 101:09 (101:10 in the Kadiani Koran), Maulvi Muhammad Ali translated “Fa-umahoo” as “abyss”. However, in the commentary, Maulvi Muhammad Ali alleges that it also means “mother”.

In 1986, Mirza Tahir Ahmad said that Hell is like a hospital and they are all like punishment. Smells of medicine, sounds, and this will spiritually reform people.

In 1988, via the 5-volume commentary of the Quran by Malik Ghulam Farid, the verse signifies that the connection of the sinful people with Hell will be like that of a baby with its mother. Just as the embryo goes through various stages of development in the womb till it is born as a full-fledged human being, so will the guilty people pass through different stages of spiritual torture, till their souls are completely cleansed of the taint of sin and they will thus receive a new birth. Thus the punishments of Hell are intended to make the wicked repent of their sins and so reform themselves. According to Islamic concept Hell is a penitentiary.

When I was growing in the 90’s in the Bay Area, my father (Khadim Shah) would always tell people that he believed that Hell was like a hospital (See the Quran 101:09, 101:10 in the Kadiani Koran) and thus all the physical descriptions of punishment in the Quran were only metaphoric, starting with the fire (See Haqaiq-ul-Furqan, Vol. IV, p. 446 and this article, published in 1991, backdated to 1914).

In 2024, Maulvi Mahmood Kausar talks about Hell is like a hospital on a podcast (14:04 time stamp).

In 2025 (Jan), during a Friday sermon, Mirza Masroor Ahmad told Ahmadi’s to stop stealing land from each other and committing other financial crimes (like land grabbing) against each other. Mirza Masroor Ahmad was so mad that he alleged that Muhammad (saw) once thus described a big sin: If a person usurps even a hand span of land from his brother, the entire land underneath even a small pebble of the land usurped will be placed as a millstone around his neck on the Day of Judgement (See Sahih al-Bukhari 2453 and Sahih Muslim 1612a). It is indeed a grave cause for concern when owing to egotistical and personal interest people usurp others in court cases. This is something we need to reflect on.

In Dec-2025, Ahmadiyya employees, Humayon Jahangeerkhan, with Mansoor Clarke and Rabeeb Mirza (works at MTA, translation center) discussed the Ahmadiyya concept of Hell and gave many contradictory arguments.

The meaning is of this verse is that those who do not seek God with a true heart suffer a severe reaction. They are
so much involved with the world as if their feet are secured by chains, and they bend down so much towards worldly pursuits as if there are collars round their necks which do not permit them to lift their eyes towards heaven. They have a burning desire for the things of the world, property, authority, domination, wealth, etc. As God Almighty finds them unworthy and committed to undesirable pursuits He inflicts them with these three sufferings.

Hell will be his nursing mother.[4825]

4825.Commentary:

أم primarily meaning, ‘mother’ has a variety of secondary significations such as source, origin; support; an abode, etc. (Lane & Aqrab).

The verse signifies that the connection of the sinful people with Hell will be like that of a baby with its mother. Just as the embryo goes through various stages of development in the womb till it is born as a full-fledged human being, so will the guilty people pass through different stages of spiritual torture, till their souls are completely cleansed of the taint of sin and they will thus receive a new birth. Universal salvation and the finite nature of the punishment of Hell

“Every day, we observe that if a person makes a mistake, his punishment is not permanent, rather it ends at some point as well. When this is the case with us humans and the laws we have made, then how can we ever reconcile ourselves to the idea that God would continue to make people suffer from the punishment of Hell for their mistakes and sins forever? He is God in Whom are found all the most excellent, pure and praiseworthy attributes, Who is the Most Exalted, Who manifests Himself on the highest station of holiness and Who has made a promise about Himself that:

إِنَّ‭ ‬رَحْمَتِي‭ ‬غَلَبَتْ‭ ‬غَضَبِي

“Verily, My mercy prevails over My wrath. (Sahih Bukhari, Kitab bad’i l-khalq, Bab ma ja’a fi qawli-llahi ta‘ala wa huwa llazi yabda’u l-khalqa thumma yu‘iduhu wa huwa ’ahwanu ‘alayh)

“Moreover, He is the One Who loves his servants far more than a kind mother. [Thus, how can we even think of Him in that way?]

“Hell is a hospital where the sick will be treated and discharged after their recovery. This is the reason why Allah the Exalted has also used the word umm, i.e. mother, in relation to Hell in the Holy Quran, as He said, فَاُمُّهٗ‭ ‬هَاوِيَةٌ (Surah al-Qarai‘ah, 101:10), which means that Hell will be his mother. One does not live in the mother’s womb forever. Rather, when the development of the fetus is complete, it comes into the world from there.

“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I(ra), while explaining the interpretation of this verse, says:

“‘To refer to Hell [hawiyah] as mother [umm] points to the fact that one is attached to the mother until one is fully developed and trained. After having received the training, one is separated from the mother. This word [umm] indicates that the inmates of Hell will be delivered from it after having lived in it for a long period of time.’ (Haqaiq-ul-Furqan, Vol. IV, p. 446)

“Similarly, it is also mentioned in the Hadith that there will come a time upon Hell that there will be no human being left in it and the gates of Hell will make a rattling noise on account of the blowing winds. (Kanz al-Ummal, Vol. 14, Hadith No. 39506)

“Hazrat Ibn Mas‘ud(ra) narrates that the Holy Prophet(sa) while describing the condition of the last person to be taken out of Hell, said:

“‘The person who will be the last to enter Paradise will come out of Hell, falling, stumbling and crawling while the fire of Hell will be burning him. Then, once he is out of the hell, he will look back towards the hell and address the hell and say, ‘Blessed is He Who has saved me from thee. Allah has given me something He has not given to any one of those in earlier or later times.’

“‘Then a tree would be raised up for him and he will say, ‘O my Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water.’ Allah, the Exalted and Great, would say, ‘O son of Adam! If I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else.’ He would reply, ‘No. my Lord.’ And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because He sees (such bounties of Paradise) what he cannot help desiring; so He would bring him near it, and he would take shelter in its shade and (quench his thirst) by drinking of the water (and the nectar of its fruits).

“‘Afterwards, a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised up before him and he would say, ‘O my Lord! bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask Thee for anything else.’ He (Allah) would say, ‘O son of Adam! If I bring you near it you may ask me for something else.’ He would then promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord will excuse him because He would see something (of the blessings) he cannot help desiring. So He would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water.

“‘Then a tree would be raised up for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say, ‘O my Lord! bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask Thee for anything else.’ He (Allah) would say, ‘O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me anything else?’ He would say, ‘Yes, my Lord, but I shall not ask Thee for anything else.’ His Lord would excuse him for He sees something (of the blessings of Paradise) the temptation of which he could not resist. He (Allah) would bring him near to it, and when He would bring him near it he would hear the voices of the inhabitants of Paradise. He would say, ‘O my Lord! Please admit me to it.’ He (Allah) would say, ‘O son of Adam! What will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the whole world and a like one along with it?’ He will reply, ‘O my Lord! Art Thou mocking me, though Thou art the Lord of the worlds?’

“At this, the narrator of this hadith, Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas‘ud(ra), laughed and said to the audience, ‘Why don’t you ask me why I laughed?’ The people asked, ‘Why did you laugh?’ He replied that the Holy Prophet(sa) also laughed in the same way and the Companions(ra) asked him, ‘O Allah’s Messenger(sa)! Did you laugh for some reason?’ Upon this, he replied, ‘I laughed because of the laughter of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. When that person will say, ‘You are mocking me despite being the Lord of the Worlds’, Allah will say, ‘I am not mocking you but I can do whatever I will.” (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-iman, Bab akhiri ’ahli n-nari khurujan)”.

QTafsir | Al-Qari`ah is one of the names—
http://m.qtafsir.com/Surah-Al-Qaria/Al-Qari%60ah-is-one-of-the-names—

Al-Qari`ah is one of the names of the Day of Judgement, like Al-Haqqah, At-Tammah, As-Sakhkhah, Al-Ghashiyah and other names.

Then Allah intensifies concern and fright for it by saying,

(And what will make you know what Al-Qari`ah is) Then He explains this by saying,

(It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about.) meaning, in their scattering, their dividing, their coming and their going, all due to being bewildered at what is happening to them, they will be like scattered moths. This is like Allah’s statement,

(As if they were locusts spread abroad.) (54:7) Allah said,

(And the mountains will be like wool, carded.) meaning, they will become like carded wool that has began to wear out (fade away) and be torn apart. Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Sa`id bin Jubayr, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, `Ata’ Al-Khurasani, Ad-Dahhak and As-Suddi have all said,

(like wool (`Ihn).) “Woolen.” Then Allah informs about the results received by those who performed the deeds, and the honor and disgrace they will experience based upon their deeds. He says,

(Then as for him whose Balance will be heavy.) meaning, his good deeds are more than his bad deeds.

(He will live a pleasant life.) meaning, in Paradise.

(But as for him whose Balance will be light.) meaning, his bad deeds are more than his good deeds. Then Allah says,

(His mother will be Hawiyah.) It has been said that this means he will be falling and tumbling headfirst into the fire of Hell, and the expression `his mother’ has been used to refer to his brain (as it is the mother of his head). Ibn Jarir said, “Al-Hawiyah is only called his mother because he will have no other abode except for it.” Ibn Zayd said, “Al-Hawiyah is the Fire, and it will be his mother and his abode to which he will return, and where he will be settled.” Then he recited the Ayah,

(Their abode will be the Fire.) (3:151) Ibn Abi Hatim said that it has been narrated from Qatadah that he said, “It is the Fire, and it is their abode.” Thus, Allah says in explaining the meaning of Al-Hawiyah,

(And what will make you know what it is). Allah’s statement

(A fire Hamiyah!) meaning extreme heat. It is a heat that is accompanied by a strong flame and fire. It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet said,

« نَارُ بَنِي آدَمَ الَّتِي تُوقِدُونَ، جُزْءٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّم »

(The fire of the Children of Adam that you all kindle is one part of the seventy parts of the fire of Hell.) They (the Companions) said, “O Messenger of Allah! Isn’t it sufficient” He replied,

« إِنَّهَا فُضِّلَتْ عَلَيْهَا بِتِسْعَةٍ وَسِتِّينَ جُزْءًا »

(It is more than it by sixty-nine times.) This has been recorded by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. In some of the wordings he stated,

« إِنَّهَا فُضِّلَتْ عَلَيْهَا بِتِسْعَةٍ وَسِتِّينَ جُزْءًا، كُلُّهُنَّ مِثْلُ حَرِّهَا »

(It is more than it by sixty-nine times, each of them is like the heat of it.) It has been narrated in a Hadith that Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet said,

« إِنَّ أَهْوَنَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا مَنْ لَهُ نَعْلَانِ، يَغْلِي مِنْهُمَا دِمَاغُه »

(Verily, the person who will receive the lightest torment of the people of the Hellfire will be a man who will have two sandals that will cause his brain to boil.)” It has been confirmed in the
