FORMAL PUBLIC CHALLENGE TO THE AHMADIYYA JAMAAT –INVITATION TO AN OPEN, LIVE AND RECORDED DISCUSSION WITH FORMER AHMADIS

Dear Senior Leadership and Representatives of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat,

My name is Shabir Uddin. My family has a long and meaningful history with the Ahmadiyya Jamaat. In the 1950s, my grandfather, Salah Uddin, gifted two houses to the Jamaat free of charge. These became the first mosque where Ahmadis gathered to pray, and he was widely respected for the role he played in establishing the community. My father, Bashir Uddin, was born into the faith and devoted much of his life to serving the Jamaat.

I grew up within this environment, attending Jalsa Salana, participating in community activities and even performing security duties for Mirza Tahir Ahmad. The Jamaat was an important part of my upbringing and identity. However, after years of personal experience, study and research, I decided to leave the Ahmadiyya community. This was not a sudden or emotional decision, but one rooted in serious theological disagreements and concerns about how my family and I were treated.

I have chosen to speak publicly because I believe these issues deserve honest discussion, because I believe certain claims made by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad contradict core Islamic teachings, and because I want friends, relatives and current Ahmadis to have access to open dialogue and evidence. In support of this goal, a conference was organised. I believe this was the first conference of its kind in Huddersfield, providing former Ahmadis with an opportunity to speak openly about their experiences.

MY PODCAST APPEARANCE AND THE JAMAAT’S RESPONSE
In September 2026, I appeared on a podcast with Adnan Rashid to explain why I and others left the Jamaat. Shortly afterwards, Jamaat Murabbi Raziullah Noman appeared on television and social media, stating that he wished to invite former Ahmadis back to Ahmadiyya. We welcomed this development and proposed a structured, live and recorded gathering involving ten former Ahmadis with genuine lived experience inside the community. After more than two weeks of silence, a response finally came on 28 October 2026 via a YouTube podcast. Unfortunately, it was very oblique and also included several claims that require clarification.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Voluntary Participation: The suggestion that I appeared on the podcast because the host was seeking views is entirely false. I participated of my own free will and was neither instructed nor pressured by anyone.

Public Identity: It has also been claimed that my name could not be mentioned publicly. This is untrue, as I have never objected to my name being used.

Legal Intentions: Another claim was that I intend to take the Jamaat to court. This is incorrect. Neither I nor those involved in this proposal have any intention of initiating legal action. Raising this issue appears to create an unnecessary distraction and to evade the real matters under discussion.

Format of Invitation: Finally, it was suggested that any invitation should apply only to me personally. This condition is difficult to understand. If the stated objective is genuinely to bring former Ahmadis back, it makes no sense to exclude others. Our proposal involves ten former Ahmadis with legitimate questions and concerns to put to Ahmadi Murabbis who speak on behalf of the Jamaat.

REASONS FOR WANTING DIALOGUE
Claims about former Ahmadis should be addressed through open and recorded discussion rather than private meetings that leave the public uncertain about what was said. My disagreements with the Jamaat are theological and serious, and they deserve open and honest examination. I want relatives, friends and current Ahmadis to hear the questions, hear the answers and reach their own conclusions.

This is not a personal dispute. It concerns matters of faith, religious authority and the right to question doctrines that we believe contradict Islam. If those doctrines are true, they should be able to withstand public examination. If they are unable to do so, people have a right to know why.

A SERIOUS INVITATION REQUIRES A SERIOUS RESPONSE
If a qualified Murabbi and representative of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat publicly states that he wishes to bring former Ahmadis back, that commitment must be demonstrated through action. A genuine invitation requires acceptance of a structured format, agreement to a live and recorded discussion, a willingness to answer genuine questions, and a commitment to openness and transparency. We are not seeking special treatment, but simply fairness, honesty and openness.

MY PUBLIC CHALLENGE TO THE AHMADIYYA JAMAAT
I therefore formally challenge the senior leadership and representatives of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat. We, the former Ahmadis behind this proposal, stand ready to participate alongside our three respected Muslim speakers in a properly organised, live and recorded discussion at a venue, mosque, date and time to be mutually agreed. We simply ask for confirmation as to whether you accept the proposal, whether you agree to a fair format, and whether you are prepared to answer the questions that former members wish to raise. Having publicly expressed a desire to bring former Ahmadis back, we now ask you to demonstrate that sincerity through action rather than words.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS
My family gave property, time and service to the Jamaat, and I devoted years of my own life to its activities. I therefore have every right to explain why I left and to ask questions about beliefs I no longer accept. I will continue to speak openly, peacefully and honestly, and I hope this invitation will be met in the same spirit. If the stated aim is genuinely to bring former Ahmadis back, then the path forward is straightforward: meet us publicly, answer our questions and allow people to judge the discussion for themselves. All we are asking for is openness, honesty and transparency. The proposal has been made and the challenge remains. We are ready. The question now is whether the Ahmadiyya Jamaat is ready.

Yours faithfully,
Shabir Uddin
