Intro
Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran (also written as Khwaja Ghulam Farid) was a huge admirer of Maulvi Noorudin. In fact, in Aug-1894, Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran requested MGA to send Noorudin to give medical treatment to the Nawab of Bahawalpur (See pages 114-115, “Maulvi Noorudin”). This seems to be during the Athim prophecy.

In 1897, while Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran was still alive, MGA published an old letter of his in Siraj-e-Munir, which seems to be from pre-1889. The Ahmadiyya Movement also alleges that Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran was mentioned in Anjam-e-Athim in terms of the Athim prophecy, however, its unclear, Ahmadiyya sources tell us that MGA wrote his name in the famous list of 70 that he challenged. The Lahori-Ahmadi’s claim that even Batalvi went to Chachran to speak to the Khwaja and he refused to correct himself, most likely because MGA was denying prophethood at this time (see “Mujadid-e-Azim” by Dr. Basharat Ahmad).

Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran died in 1901, a year later, his son published his old writings and utterances, the first edition of Isharat-e-Faridi, the collection of Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid’s discourses, published in 1902. 5-6 later, MGA wrote about him in “Haqiqatul Wahy” (1907)(See pages 85, 262-265, online english edition) and asserted that the saint praised MGA and etc. MGA quoted Isharat-e-Faridi and alleged that Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran sided with MGA in the Athim prophecy and called MGA as truthful. However, these are all distortions, Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran knew of MGA before MGA’s wildest claims and did support him, however, after 1893-1894 and MGA’s positions were revealed to Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran, he immediately did Toba. When this book was much later on translated into Urdu and published in Pakistan (in the 1970s), a long preface was added saying that the favourable references to Hazrat Mirza sahib have been removed because they were inserted by a Qadiani agent who had infiltrated into the Khwaja sahib’s disciples. In the preface of the 1970’s edition, The editor argues: How could Khwaja sahib have praised Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who was a false prophet? In other words, they assume that he was (God forbid) false, and then argue that Khwaja sahib could not have praised him.

It should also be noted that there is a story in Isharat-e-Faridi about a judge in the Bahawalpur (area where Khwaja sahib lived) who had declared Ahmadis as non-Muslim in a judgment in the 1950s. Subsequently, after the judge’s death, a member of Khwaja sahib’s movement saw the judge in a dream, sitting in paradise. The judge asked him: Do you know why Allah has blessed me with paradise? The man said: why? The judge said: I have been rewarded because I declared Ahmadis as non-Muslim in a court case.

At this link, you can see the section of ten pages from the English translation of Mujaddid-i Azam (biography of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) covering his correspondence with Khwaja Ghulam Fareed in the 1890’s.

Once, the ruler (Nawab) of Bahawalpur, asked his pir Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Fareed sahib, what ever you demand I will fulfill. Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Fareed replied: I will be impressed if you can, convince Maulana Hakim Noor ud Din (a mureed of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) to move to state of Bahawalpur from Qadian.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________The quote wherein Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Sahib Of Chachran praised MGA
Isharat-i Faridi, compilation of the talks of Khawaja Ghulam Farid, by his son, p. 179

“Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani is also right, and he is right and truthful in his affair. Day and night he is engrossed in the service of God Almighty. He has given his life for the progress of Islam and raising aloft the cause of the Faith. I can see nothing wrong or bad in him at all. If he has claimed to be the Mahdi and Messiah, that too is among the things which are permissible.”

Additional quotes from Isharat-i Faridi
https://www.alhakam.org/letters-from-chachran-khawaja-ghulam-farids-support-of-hazrat-mirza-ghulam-ahmad/

1—-“No! No! He is a truthful man, not a fabricator or a liar. This matter is not made up by him.” (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 42, published 1302 AH [c. 1902 CE])

2—-On another occasion, someone asked him about the validity of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’sas claim to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. His response was:

“The characteristics of the Mahdi are veiled and they are not according to the thoughts people harbour in their hearts. It is quite possible that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Sahib of Qadian is the Mahdi, for it is mentioned in ahadith that there would be twelve dajjals [antichrists] hence there should be as many Mahdis as well. It is also mentioned in a hadith that Jesus and the Mahdi would be one person.” (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 123, published 1302 AH (c. 1902 CE))

3—-He then continued by stating the example of the Holy Prophetsa:

“When the Holy Prophetsa appeared, some people had made up signs of his advent according to their own understanding. Those who recognised the truthfulness of the Holy Prophetsa accepted him whereas those upon whom this matter was shrouded denied him. Such is the case with the Mahdi. Therefore, if Mirza Sahib is the Mahdi, then what is the hindrance?” (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 124, published 1302 AH [c. 1902 CE])

4—-Furthermore, Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid silenced critics who raised allegations about the sign of the eclipses in Ramadan of 1894 (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 27, published 1302 AH [c. 1902 CE]) and the fulfilment of the prophecy regarding Abdullah Atham.

5—–Thereafter, when Atham ultimately died, he said Atham had died through the “breath of Mirza Sahib” (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 15, published 1302 AH [c. 1902 CE]). In other words, according to Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid, Atham died through the prayers and the powerful spiritual effect of the Promised Messiahas.

6—-“Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian is also right and he is honest and true in his affair. He is engrossed in the worship of God Almighty day and night and has devoted his life to the advancement of Islam and raising the cause of Faith high. I do not see anything wrong or bad in him at all. If he has claimed to be the Mahdi and Messiah, that too is permissible.” (Isharat-e-Faridi, p. 179, published 1302 AH [c. 1902 CE])

Disciple of Khwaja Ghulam Farid accepts Ahmadiyyat

The first letter is translated below:

“O true Mahdi and true guide! assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh. Today I saw the Review of Religions, which proved and showed me that the declarations against you which appear in newspapers are written by misguided people.  You are teaching us the Islam which we have forgotten. Far from being a denier and falsifier of the khatam-ur-rusul Muhammad, peace be upon him, you are one who supports and propagates his religion. You belong to that group regarding whom our Holy Messenger said that in his umma there will be ulama who will excel the prophets of the past. In a partial sense, messengership continues and will continue till the Day of Judgment. …

O true Mahdi who has been sent by God, I sincerely believe you to be true and God the Glorious is witness to it. …

O Mahdi sent by God, guide and mentor, I accept that the Holy Quran is the highest guide and teacher of Islam. However, to understand it, when knowledge and reason are not enough then a guide is required. So I take you as my guide. Teach me and show me the right path. …”

The front page of this issue of Badr carried as usual the full conditions of the bai`at and, at the foot of the page, again as usual, the manner in which the Promised Messiah administers the bai`at.

Again, as usual, the front page has printed on it verses from the poem in Persian by Hazrat Mirza sahib written while addressing the saint Khwaja Ghulam Farid of Chachran (near Bahawalpur). It begins: “Ma musalmaneem az fazl-i Khuda…” (We are Muslims by the grace of God. The Mustafa is our Leader and Guide). The 6th verse in the extract given here is:

“He is the best of messengers, the best of mankind. Every prophethood came to an end with him”.

This poem was published by Hazrat Mirza sahib in his book Siraj Munir, March 1897. See Mujaddid-i Azam, p. 458-459.

In Badr of 10th October 1907 a news is printed about a disciple of the Khwaja as follows:

“Hazrat Khwaja Ghulam Farid, upon whom be mercy of Allah, had true love for the Promised Messiah. This is why his disciples, when expressing love and loyalty towards the Promised Messiah, mention that they are following their late leader, may Allah have mercy on him. Recently, an honourable sufi, Khalifa Muhammad Sadiq Ali, has entered into the bai`at of the holy Hazrat. We reproduce two of his letters which will be a source of guidance for our readers.”

In the case of the latter, when he heard some of his followers – including the Nawab of Bahawalpur – mocking the prophecy after the initial 15-month period ended and Atham seemed to have survived, he reprimanded them saying, “Who says Atham is alive? I can see his corpse!”
