He bought five acres of land and paid for the entire construction of Baitul Samee Mosque in Houston, Texas. It was developed in stages during 1998 to 2004; its doors opened in 2001 or 2002. It was conceived in the 1980s by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, fourth caliph of the Ahmadiyya faith, as one of five large mosque construction projects to be built in major United States cities, along with ones in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
In his book, he describes how her personally designed this place of worship.
His grandfather (Chaudhary Mohammed Ismael) was from the Sialkot area, from a village called Khoot-Khora. In 1947, his grandfather retired from the Royal British Military of India, and was given lots of land near modern day Sahiwal, Pakistan. His grandfather moved his whole family there (5 sons and 4 daughters) and became the numberdar (village chief) and owned most of the land in and outside of their new village.
Younas Chaudhary’s father (Mohammed Ishaque Chaudhary) was the eldest child of the family.
He is born in a village called 996/R near Sahiwal (also known as Montgomery), which is modern day Pakistan.
Younas Chaudhary was living with his father in Sarghoda, Pakistan. His father was in the Pakistani Air Force.
His grandfather passes away (he was above 80). Younas Chaudhary’s father takes an early retirement and returns to the village to take over as the new chief.
His father moves his family out of the village, to Farid Town, which was in the city of Sahiwal.
Younas Chaudhary was selected to join an elite Army officer training program and that lasted just six months. I was terminated without reason! He was also forced to marry a woman named Bushra, she died in 2014, she had developed Parkinson’s Disease with loss of memory. He was forced to marry her after an engagement to another family member had been broken so that my father could keep our family honor intact.
Somehow, Younas Chaudhary moves to Canada, its unclear what type of visa this was. His brother picks him up at the airport.
Lessons from my first oil lease
My first leap came in 1980 when I purchased an oil lease close to the town of Humboldt, Kansas. I was a young immigrant from Pakistan with lots of curiosity and a willingness to work hard. But I had no knowledge or any experience in the oil and gas industry. Yet, I was eager to learn new things, understand different concepts and had the urge to make money.
My first lease was located off a black top road on the corner of a street close to Humboldt. The property had several shut-in abandoned oil wells, a gun barrel, two 100 barrel oil tanks and one 100 barrel water tank. It was surrounded by huge shrubs and overgrown grass as the previous lease owner had abandoned the field but left most of the equipment. I had no clue what I was getting into, so I hired Brian, a local young man with oilfield experience to help me figure out what lay ahead.
I was excited. This lease was like a new member who had joined my family. I was anxious as I was trying out something new with unpredictable results. I hired a local pumper, fixed flowlines, cut weeds and the overgrown grass and turned on the power. I also pulled wells and restored the least dilapidated oil wells.
Every day, for seven days a week, I would spend very long hours at this lease site fixing the equipment and learning from my experienced oilfield co-workers. I was very interested and eager to learn and understand the oilfield work process and to find out ways to do this new line of exciting work in a cost-effective manner.
Three months went by fast and I was ready to turn on the oil wells for the first time. With bated breath, I kept my ear close to the gun barrel and stock tanks and intensely listened to the noise of pressure as the black gold started to slowly flow in from the pumping wells. I had got the oil wells fixed and they were online! My heart raced…. the oil, gas and water gushed from the oil wells to the tank battery with good pressure.
Later, from Wichita, Kansas, he launched Pioneer Exploration in 1983, and Atlas followed. Atlas and Pioneer are affiliate companies that operate oil & gas wells in multiple states.
In late October, his father is arrested in Sahiwal for murder, along with 11 Ahmadi’s, who seem to have killed 2-3 Muslims who were protesting inside the Ahmadi place of worship in Sahiwal. This is a famous case wherein Zia ul Haq would not allow the newspapers to report on this murder, the Ahmadi’s were set free after a few years and migrated out of Pakistan immediately.
In 2014, his wife died, she had developed Parkinson’s Disease with loss of memory.
