Intro
He was born as James Green in 1932 in Philadelphia, PA. He unknowningly converted to Ahmadiyya in 1957 and barely knew what Islam was. He barely read any books of MGA either. His name is also spelled Abdur-Raqeeb Wali. From roughly 1945 to 1957, James Green aka Abdur Raqib Wali was a thief, a hustler, a fornicator, a drug user (See page 57). He also was a lead singer at a night club. A fellow musician (Abdur Rahman) introduced him to Ahmadiyya via a book by the 2nd Qadiani Khalifa, “Ahmadiyya, or True Islam“. After reading the book, he spoke to Khalil Mahmood for 3 hours and converted to Ahmadiyya.

In the late 1950’s, he has an iconic photo with Abid Haneef and Zafrullah Khan in the American Fazl Mosque in Washington D.C. He was the President of the Boston Jamaat in 1973, per the Moslem Sunrise of Jan-Feb-1974, there was a 7-man delegation to Rabwah from the USA, this was the first time something like this had ever happened. Members of the 7-man delegation were Rashid Ahmad (leader), Abid Haneef (Boston), Abdur-Raqib Wali (President of the Boston jamaat), Abdul Kareem of Boston, Fazal Omar of Waukegan, Hasan Hakeem of Waukegan, Ill and Alhaji Abdur Rahim Zafar of Dayton later joined the delegation in Rabwah. He also claims to have performed Hajj.

By 2024, none of children have a strong connection to Ahmadiyya. Even the kids from his Qadian wife (Riffat), all 4 have distanced themselves from Ahmadiyya. He is still alive and 90+ years old.

He died on April 26, 2025. His father-in-law was Umar Din Khan.  Jalal Muzammal Sahib, serving in Milwaukee Jama’at is also a relative. He seems to be a grandson of Muhammad Khan and a nephew of Raqib Wali.

His children

He has two families, one pre-1976 and a wife from Qadian thereafter. None of his kids from any of these marriages are chanda paying Ahmadi’s in 2024. I personally know the 2nd family, 1 boy and 3 girls and all hate Ahmadiyya.

Rashid Ahmad was an Ahmadiyya missionary and the Jamaat President for the entire USA. In the below, he can be seen with Abdul Raqib Wali (I love him and his family). This photo is from Sep-1974, and the Ahmadiyya Jalsa was attended by 350 American’s and Canadian’s at Wheelock College in Boston.

Per the Moslem Sunrise of Jan-Feb-1974, the impressions of Rabwah are given by a Qadiani-African-American convert, Hasan Hakeem of Waukegan. He mentions how the brother of Zafrullah Khan received them in Lahore (Asadullah Khan), they had flown in from Karachi. From Lahore they travelled in a mini-bus to Rabwah where they were received by Mirza Mubarak Ahmad and Maulvi Abdul Qadar Zaighum. Muzaffar Ahmad Zafar has an essay in this edition wherein he also talks about his trip to Rabwah. It is mentioned how Chaudry Sharif Ahmad Bajwah is back in the USA (on Dec-20-1973) after spending time in London. Maulvi Mian Muhammad Ibrahim is also mentioned and how on December 14, 1973, he gave a speech at the Trinity Evangelic Divinity College, Deerfield, Ill. On December 20, 1973, the missionary Imam Ibrahim, assisted by Bro. Rafiq Salam and Aminullah, delivered lectures in Dunbar High School, Dayton, Ohio, and the trio removed several misunderstandings about Islam during the question and answer session. EIDUL AZHA was solemnly celebrated at the Dayton Mosque on January 4, 1973, and the event received a prominent coverage in the Daily News. The Dayton Jamaat gave a befitting reception to Alhaj Abdur Rahim Zafar (now named Muzaffar by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih) on Sunday, January 13, 1974. On his return from Rabwah as a member of the American delegation Bro. Muzaffar who came back highly inspired made a stirring speech covering all that had impressed him besides the dynamic personality of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih. (The text of his speech appears elsewhere). Our congratulations to Bro Yaqub and Aminullah of Dayton who have been gifted with the blessings of Hajj this year. Bro. Yusof Latiff and his wife from Boston also had the honor of performing the Hajj. Muhammad Siddique Shahid Gurdaspuri is mentioned as well as his work in NY. Abdul Raqib Wali (of the Boston Jamaat), President, on the meeting Sunday, December 16, 1973, at Phillip Brooks House, Harvard University, at 2 p.m., Abid Hanif was also mentioned. The Editor of the Muslim Sunrise is Maulvi Mian Muhammad Ibrahim. The Advisory-editor is, Imam Sharif Ahmad Bajwa. Contributing editors are Hasan Hakeem, Dr. Basharat Ahmad Munir, Dr. Qazi Muhammad Barkatullah and Dr. M.M. Abbas. This magazine was published from the Dayton Mosque, 637 Randolph Street, Dayton, Ohio, 45408.

It also mentions the newly found Shroud of Turin. The Speech of Mirza Nasir Ahmad at the Jalsa at Rabwah on Dec-28-1973 (the 3rd day) is given. Mirza Nasir Ahmad announces that there will be a 100-year jubilee in 1989 to commemorate 100 years of Qadianism.

He becomes the first ever African-American-Ahmadi to go to Qadian and marry a local Qadiani-Ahmadi woman. He seems to have been in Qadian while the 3rd Qadiani-Khalifa (Mirza Nasir Ahmad) was in the USA, this is the famous trip of the 3rd Khalifa in the USA.

A Trip Down Memory Lane – 25 Photos that Shaped Ahmadiyyat in America (youtube.com)

The 30 annual USA Jalsa Salana was held in St. Louis. As you can see, barely 60 men showed up. Abid Haneef can be seen, however, none of his sons are in this photo, were they even in attendance? Yahya Shareef can also be seen, he was a Jewish convert (the only white Ahmadi in the USA). Abdur-Raqib Wali can also be seen. Yusuf Lateef, a famous Jazz player can also be seen. Muzaffar Ahmad Zafar was also there.

The 2025 USA Jalsa for Ahmadi’s has barely 1000 men and boys in attendance, #JalsaUSA #JalsaConnectUSA #JalsaSalana #JalsaConnect

Maulvi Azhar Haneef gave a speech on Sunday, July-6-2025, at the USA Jalsa-2025 on “Intrigues against Early Khilafat & the Role of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya in Restoring Islam to its Glory”. In this speech, he accused Muslims of failing to unite and blamed their plight in Gaza and other Muslim countries as punishment for not accepting the Ahmadiyya Khilafat (17:40 time stamp). Maulvi Azhar Haneef alleged that Muslims have failed to unite with their Petro dollars and etc. etc. Maulvi Azhar Haneef argued that Muslims had went stray since Umar (ra) was assassinated (1000+ years ago). At 19:26, he says that in 1926 when the Ottoman Sultanate died out, that is when the true Khilafat (that of the Mirza family) began. Maulvi Azhar Haneef was so bold he alleged that Tahrik-e-Jadid has eliminated poverty (19:56 time stamp) and illiteracy in the world (a total lie). At 27:31, Maulvi Azhar Haneef explains how in 1956, the 2nd Qadiani-Ahmadi Khalifa sent a message to the USA Ameer for Qadiani’s, Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir and asked him to translate the book Wasiyyat into English (See the Ahmadiyya Gazette of the First Quarter-1956). Maulvi Azhar Haneef implores Ahmadi’s to pay 10% of their monthly income and 30% of your assets when you die. At 30:08, Maulvi Azhar Haneef doesn’t understand why more Ahmadi’s haven’t signed up for Wasiyyat. Maulvi Azhar Haneef argued that Wasiyyat is vital for Islam and society. At 31:31, Maulvi Azhar Haneef argued that Wasiyyat is not a financial scheme! At 32:01, Maulvi Azhar Haneef argued that Wasiyyat would make this world, as a world of peace. At 35:46, Maulvi Azhar Haneef argued that Wasiyyat in the USA has a 50% membership target and it has not been reached. At 36:55, Maulvi Azhar Haneef alleges that the 2nd Qadiani-Ahmadi Khalifa said that Wasiyyat comprises in itself the whole social and economic system of Islam. At 37:50, he begs Ahmadi’s to give Mirza Masroor Ahmad the gift of signing up for Wasiyyat. Maulvi Azhar Haneef says that Ahmadi’s have failed in this regard and chased the dunya! At 38:21, Maulvi Azhar Haneef begs Ahmadi’s to convince other Ahmadi’s to sign up for Wasiyyat. At 41:34, Maulvi Azhar Haneef mentioned Khwaja Kamal-ud-Din and alleged that the Khwaja didn’t understand Wasiyyat. At 47:18, he alleged that Maulvi Nur ud Din said that when a nation loses righteousness, then Allah’s punishment comes, however, he says that Ahmadi’s are saved from this punishment, since they accepted MGA and thus not deserving of divine wrath. He also mentioned the recent death of Abdur Raqib Wali. In conclusion, Maulvi Azhar Haneef alleged that if you pay 10% monthly chanda (via Wasiyyat) and 30% of your assets at death, you will be protected by divine wrath.
