In 2026 (May-31), it was reported via nst.com that 300 Qadiani-Ahmadi’s including 12 leaders and main organizers for secretly holding their 32nd Jalsa Salana in Malaysia. These Jalsa’s are not allowed to be held by the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s and they know this. Nevertheless, it was held in the city of Likas, close to Kota Kinabalu at a small school Hall.
They were detained in an integrated operation by the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department and police following public complaints over a two-day programme believed to have gathered followers of Jemaah Ahmadiyah Qadiani at the school. Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman said checks found that the gathering, held in conjunction with the 32nd Jalsa Salana Sabah programme, was linked to Jemaah Ahmadiyah Qadiani, which was declared deviant and contrary to Islamic teachings by the Sabah Fatwa Council Committee in 2007. He said the programme was also attended by senior leaders of Jemaah Ahmadiyah Muslim Malaysia (JAMM), as well as members from several districts in Sabah. Authorities also seized 24 banners featuring the group’s founder and senior leaders, about 200 books and other reading materials linked to the teachings, programme documents, attendance lists, publications and various related documents. Syed Lot said the case is being investigated under Sections 52(1), 52A and 102 of the Sabah Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1995. All detainees were taken to the district police headquarters for documentation and further investigation by the department before being released on bail.
