Eclipses during Ramadan by David L. McNaughton (1996)

Ahmadi’s went around the world and bragged about the 2 eclipses that were shown for MGA from 1894–1996.  Finally, an independent researcher (David McNaughton) came along and destroyed the Ahmadiyya position.  The Muslims of India and the World never touched this topic in Ahmadiyya, however, after 1996, the cat was out of the bag.

Eclipses during Ramadan

by David L. McNaughton

In “Hamdard Islamicus” (Karachi, Pakistan), vol. XIX no. 1 (Spring 1996): pp. 81-86.

Characteristics of Solar Eclipses

The sight of a total eclipse of the sun is an awe-inspiring experience. Daylight quickly becomes near-darkness, and all birdsong ceases as those creatures are deceived into thinking that night has fallen.

However, only a small area of the globe enjoys the privilege of admiring the total phase of such an eclipse whenever one sweeps across our planet. Even so, astronomers can now predict accurately those places and their times – enabling many of them to go and witness such an event. Total solar eclipses provide by far the best opportunity to study the seething atmosphere in the sun’s outer atmosphere, so scientists are always present to take photographs and carry out spectrographic and other measurements.

A solar eclipse can occur only at New Moon, but not every New Moon produces a solar eclipse. That is because the plane containing the lunar orbit is inclined to the plane defined by Earth’s much larger orbit round the sun (called the “ecliptic” plane). Thus, at the instant of its birth a New Moon’s position in the celestial firmament is usually either above or below the sun: under those circumstances the sun cannot become eclipsed.

About twice every year, however, New Moon happens to take place just as the moon is passing through the ecliptic plane. That produces almost perfect alignment of the three celestial bodies, enabling the moon to hide the sun from some terrestrial observers. The moon’s umbra (full shadow) traces out a comparatively narrow path across Earth’s surface; people there see a total eclipse. At the same time, a much larger area of our globe falls within the moon’s penumbra (its partial shadow); observers there are close enough to the axis of alignment for the sun to appear partially covered.

Sometimes the umbra just misses the Earth, but a portion of our planet still lies within the penumbra – experiencing a partial eclipse. On rare occasions the umbra can just graze the Earth – but without the axis of the moon’s shadow-cone ever intersecting the surface of our planet: such eclipses are termed “total but non-central”.

If the lunar orbital plane remained pointing in the same direction, then solar eclipses would always occur near the same Gregorian date, year after year. However, the lunar orbital plane gradually swings round, completing a revolution every 18.6 years; inevitably that movement affects the dates of solar eclipses. The result is that the interval between them tends to be either six or (less commonly) five lunar months. That is why solar calendar dates of eclipses are often slightly earlier than ones experienced during the previous year.

Lunar Eclipses

To produce a lunar eclipse, Earth must lie between the sun and moon. Once again, alignment needs to be nearly exact, so (like a solar one) this sort of eclipse is possible only when the moon is on or near the ecliptic plane. This time it is Earth which is casting the shadow – sometimes over the entire lunar disc (total eclipse); on other occasions on just a portion of it (partial eclipse). A lunar eclipse can take place only at Full Moon, and may be observed from absolutely anywhere in Earth’s night-hemisphere.

About two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse, there is always some sort of solar one – because alignment on the first occasion means that there will still be sufficient alignment for the second. In fact, in rare instances it is even possible to have a small partial solar eclipse just prior to the beginning of an Islamic month, followed by a lunar one in mid-month, and then by another small partial solar eclipse near the end of the same month. (A “small” partial eclipse affects a very restricted area of Earth’s surface, with just a minute fraction of the solar disc appearing to be covered).

Preferred dates for Ramadan Eclipses

Every now and again, there is an eclipse during the Holy Month of Ramadan – either a lunar eclipse near the middle of the month or a solar one near the end. Islamic months cannot begin until a day or two after a sun-moon conjunction (to give time for the crescent to become visible), so it is not possible to experience a solar eclipse at the beginning of an Islamic month.

A detailed analysis of Ramadan eclipses reveals a surprising pattern: they seem to be restricted to certain dates in the Gregorian calendar. Every total lunar eclipse which has ever occurred during Ramadan, for example, has fallen within one of three short intervals: 22nd February to 13th March, 20th June to 11th July, or 16th October to 7th November (1), which together add up to less than 20 per cent. of the entire year. (To maintain continuity, dates recorded in the old Julian calendar prior to AD 1582 (or 1752) were converted to “extrapolated” Gregorian-style dates for this particular illustration). Thus, there has never been a Ramadan total lunar eclipse in December/January, nor April/May, nor in August/ September. (Eventually there will be, but not for many thousands of years) (2).

Dates of central solar eclipses occurring during Ramadan have ranged from 12th November to 25th December, or from 20th March to 26th April, or from 16th July to 22nd August (3): (as above, these are Gregorian dates). Here, it is appropriate to include annular as well as total eclipses provided they are “central” (i.e. lying on the lunar umbral axis). The only difference with annular eclipses is that they display a narrow ring of sunlight around the dark lunar disc – caused by the moon being slightly further away from us, or by the sun being closer to Earth than normal.

So why do Ramadan eclipses prefer certain dates? They appear to be tuned to a near-synchronisation between three and a half revolutions of the moon’s orbital plane – and the 65-year period during which the date of mid-Ramadan migrates twice round our solar calendar. The full explanation for the “date-clustering” is complicated, involving periodic readjustments caused by slow accumulation of the difference between the cycle-lengths in that near-synchronisation (4).

Double Eclipses during Ramadan

Sometimes a Ramadan will contain a solar and a lunar eclipse. That inevitably provokes comment, because of traditions that such a “double-eclipse” is a portent for some unusual event. Ithna’asheri Shi’ites, for example, believe that their Twelfth Imam will reappear after a Ramadan double-eclipse (although those two phenomena will supposedly take place in reverse order, with the solar one occurring in mid-month (5); that will require the moon to suddenly double its speed of movement after the onset of the Holy Month!)

In March/April 1894 (Ramadan 1311), Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (founder of the Ahmadiyya or Qadiani movement in Pakistan) interpreted a double-eclipse as a sign that he was a genuine modern-day prophet (6). The lunar eclipse during that particular month was only partial, although the solar one two weeks later was total in a few places in eastern Asia (7). However, there was nothing at all extraordinary about those two eclipses: every 22 or 23 Islamic years there is at least one Ramadan featuring a pair of eclipses two weeks apart (8) – one of which is usually partial; see Table 1.

Very much rarer is a Ramadan containing two total eclipses. Table 2 lists all such occasions since AH 1, as well as during the next 200 years (9); (its solar eclipses are all central, with annular ones also included).

It will be interesting to see whether the two total eclipses scheduled to occur during Ramadan 1424 (AD November 2003) – are cited to support a claim similar to that made by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, or as proof of the significance of some extraordinary event.

Notes for Table 2

Central lunar eclipses are always total.
*The central solar eclipses listed above are total unless asterisked – in which case they are annular.
Dates apply to the instant of maximum eclipse.
Extrapolated Gregorian dates are given even on occasions when the old Julian calendar was in operation;
the corresponding Julian date is then shown below in brackets.

2. Eclipses may also be examined with computer software such as EclipseMaster, MoonTracker, SunTracker and AstroCalc; Zephyr Services, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. To help with the preparation of Tables 1 and 2, AstroCalc was modified to print out celestial positions of the Sun and Moon near each Ramadan (i.e. every 354.367 days). Occasions when the mid-Ramadan Full Moon or the Eid New Moon were close to the ecliptic plane could then be highlighted – demonstrating that this occurs every 22 or 23 Islamic years.

Letter to the Journal of the British Astronomical Association 105/4, 1995

(From Dr David L. McNaughton)

Recently I was asked to examine occurrences of all lunar eclipses during Ramadan since AD 622 (i.e. since the beginning of the Islamic era), and an unexpected pattern emerged. I am trying to put together a tentative explanation for the pattern, and would appreciate comments.

Every total lunar eclipse taking place during Ramadanhas been restricted to certain dates, comprising the three short intervals 22 February to 13 March, 20 June to 11 July and 16 October to 7 November. (To maintain continuity, dates recorded in the old Julian calendar prior to AD 1582 (or 1752) were converted to ‘extrapolated’ Gregorian-style dates for this particular illustration).

So why do Ramadan eclipses prefer certain dates? They appear to be tuned to a near-synchronisation between three and a half revolutions of the moon’s orbital plane – and the 65-year period during which the date of mid-Ramadan migrates twice round our solar calendar. (Is that close resonance purely accidental?)

Detailed eclipse calculations do actually reveal a very slow drift: e.g. after AD 3000 those Ramadan eclipses will tend to move into late March, late July and mid-November.

Ramadan total lunar eclipses may be grouped into three parallel series. Each such progression comprises events 65 years and 2 days apart (on average). That is of course virtually the same as 67 Islamic years (804 lunations). (Furthermore, this time-span is just two hours short of 872½ draconic months). The three parallel series are separated by phase differences of 21 or 22 years; at present they comprise March, July and (mostly) November eclipses respectively.

Within each progression, the two extra days every 65 years do cause a slow but steady date-shift which continues for a few centuries. However, that gradually moves the eclipses away from the lunar nodal points, so this date-shift cannot be maintained indefinitely. Eventually, the progression is disrupted by a ‘backward jump’, which occurs after two successive Ramadans witness a total lunar eclipse. The second member of that pair then takes over as the starting point of a new series of eclipses 65 years and 2 apart, but containing dates displaced 11 days earlier than those taking place in the first series. Thus, this readjustment process interferes with and retards the tendency for Ramadan eclipses to drift.

The Ahmadiyya fraud on Eclipses and the Mahdi

This entire entry was taken from here:

Based on a Hadith they attribute to the Messenger of Allah(SAW), the Qadiani (Ahmadi) leadership asserts that the advent of lunar and solar eclipses during the Islamic month of Ramadhan of 1894 is the clear proof that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani was the foretold Imam Mahdi!  Mirza Ghulam himself had written:

“One Hadith of Dar-e-Qatni also proves that the Promised Mahdi will appear at the head of 14th Century; and that hadith is this ….translation of the whole hadith is:’There are two signs of our Mahdi; since the creation of earth and heaven this sign has not been revealed for any appointed and prophet and messenger; and those signs are that moon will eclipse in the first night of its fixed nights of eclipse and sun will get eclipsed in the middle of the fixed days for its eclipse, during the month of Ramadhan.’

…this hadith clearly fixes 14th Century.”  (Roohani Khazain, Vol. 17, P. 331)

However, the actual hadith recorded in Dar-e-Qatni clearly reads:

Narrated Amr son of Shamir, quoting Jabir, who quoted Mohammad bin ‘Ali:”For our Mahdi, two signs are given which never occurred in the past from the creation of the heavens and the earth. One is that a lunar eclipse will occur on the first night of Ramadhan and the second sign is that a solar eclipse will occur in the middle of Ramadhan and these signs had never happened from the creation of the heavens and the earth.” (Dar-e-Qatni, Vol. 1, P. 188)

With regard to this hadith, we need to make the following observations:

  1. This hadith is not a saying of hazrat Muhammad(SAW), as the Qadiani leadership has tried to portray, but it is a saying attributed to an individual by the name of Mohammed bin ‘Ali. Thus, once more the falsehood of Qadiani leadership becomes apparent. According to an authentic hadith of hazrat Muhammad(SAW):

Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else. Whosoever tells a lie against me intentionally then surely let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire.
(Hadith Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 378)

  2. This hadith attributed to Mohammad bin ‘Ali has been rejected by scholars of hadith for centuries. In fact, the first narrator of this hadith is Amr bin Shamir who is a known narrator of weak and fabricated Ahadith.  Allamah Shamsuddin Dhahbi(RA)who was an expert of the Funn-e-Rijaal (the art of Men Narrators) has written:

“According to its authenticity, this saying attributed to Imam Baqir is extremely weak, outcast, and rejected. Looking at the chain of narration, the first narrator is Amr bin Shamir who has been labeled (in Meezanul-E’tidaal, P. 262) as the big liar, a narrator of weak and fabricated Ahadith, a non-believer of Hadith, a person who used abusive words for the companions of the Messenger(SAW) and the Sahabah(RA); and according to Ilm-ul-Hadith, his narration is not written as Hadith.”

Amr bin Shamir had claimed to have heard this hadith from a person by the name of Jabir. Not only we can not trust this assertion of a known liar, but also Amr failed to disclose — perhaps purposely — which one of the many Jabirs he was referring to in this quote. Nevertheless, among the individuals by that name, we find Jabir Ja’fi, who was described by Imam Abu-Hanifah(RA):

“Among the liars that I met, no one was bigger liar than Jabir Ja’fi.”

Amr bin Shamir finally claims that this hadith was originally narrated by Mohammad bin ‘Ali.  Qadianis assert that the Mohammad bin ‘Ali mentioned must have been Imam Baqir. However, we have had several narrators with this name and there is no proof or reason to believe that the person Amr intended was Imam Baqir.   Indeed, since it was the habit of Amr bin Shamir to narrate weak and fabricated Ahadith and attribute them to well known, truthful, and trustworthy narrators, we are obligated to be very doubtful of this hadith.

  3. Even if, for the sake of discussion, we were to accept this hadith at face value, it would only serve to expose the falsehood of Mirza Ghulam and the Qadiani propaganda machine. This saying clearly states that the lunar eclipse will happen in the beginning of the month of Ramadhan and the solar eclipse will occur in the middle of the month. However, this event is astronomically impossible and would be indeed miraculous if occurred. The lunar and solar eclipses Qadianis advance as the proof of their claim occurred on the 13th and 28th day of Ramadhan respectively!  It is then obvious that Mirza Ghulam, as was his habit, purposely changed the quote (by adding  the words “of its fixed nights“) and twisted the true meaning of the hadith to lend appearance of legitimacy to his false claim. Furthermore, the hadith clearly states that this event has never occurred in the history, while the combination of eclipses on 13th and 28th of Ramadhan have occurred thousands of times throughout history.

Obviously, Qadiani leadership’s complete reliance on an unauthentic and misinterpreted saying of a person by the name of Mohammad bin ‘Ali proves that they have nothing but deceit on their side.

The False Argument of Qadiani (Ahmadi) Leadership

Refuted by Muslim scholars and contradicted the by an extensive body of scientific evidence, Mirza Ghulam and the Qadiani (Ahmadi) leadership acknowledged that according to the divine laws the lunar eclipse always occurs on 13th, 14th or 15th of a lunar month, and solar eclipse always occurs on 27th, 28th, or 29th of a lunar month.  However, they advanced another baseless argument to misguide the uninformed.

They reasoned that by “first night of Ramadhan”, the hadith must have intended that first night a lunar eclipse could possibly occur (i.e. 13th); and by “middle of Ramadhan”, the hadith must have meant the middle night a solar eclipse could possibly occur (i.e. 28th)! Thus, they tried to justify the conclusion of their Sire, Mirza Ghulam, and claim that Mirza must have been Mahdi, since such an eclipse occurred during his life time!

With regard to this assertion, we need to make the following observations:

  1. It is the habit of the Qadiani leadership to use such foolish and feeble interpretations to try to misguide the gullible.  The words of the hadith (even though we have shown it to be an unreliable hadith not referred to our Prophet(SAW)) are quite clear:  The lunar eclipse should occur on the “first night of Ramadhan” and the solar eclipse in the “middle of Ramadhan” (e.g. 15th).  The hadith does not state the “first night from the nights of eclipses”, as Qadiani leadership would like everyone to believe.  As we have shown, this is an addition made to the hadith by Mirza Ghulam himself.
  2. This interpretation of Mirza Ghulam Qadiani and his associates is also shown to be absurd and false by the very hadith itself.  The hadith concludes by stating “these signs had never happened from the creation of the heavens and the earth.”  However, the combination of eclipses on the 13th and 28th of Ramadhan have occurred thousands of times throughout recorded history! As an example, we quote 45 years of eclipses in life time of Mirza Qadiani. In these 45 years, 3 times such combination of eclipses occurred on 13th and 28th (see book by Mr. Keith, “Use of the Globes” and another book, “Hadaiqun-Nujoom”). Both these books list eclipses from the year 1801CE to 1901CE. Out of those a list of 45 years is produced in a book, ‘Doosri Shadadat-e-Aasmani’ written by Sayyid Abu-Ahmad Rahmani which again confirms that these pair of eclipses have occurred three times alone during the 45 years in question! Further references on the accurate theories of Lunar Eclipses can be found in a commentary written by David McNaughton, a South African astronomer working in UAE, who is considered to be an authority on this subject. Accurate and detailed calculations, using Jean Meeus’s Algorithm, was performed in 1998 by Khalid Shaukat for the 3 pairs of eclipses mentioned before and produced in the following table:

Schedule of Relevant Eclipses in 45 Years of Mirza’s Life

    No. Eclipse Gregorian
    Islamic Date
    in India
Time of eclipse in India Description Remark
    1 Lunar July 13,
    1851 CE
    Ramadhan 13, 1267 AH Starts 11:21
    Max. 12:51
    Ends 14:22
Moon was below horizon in Qadian when eclipse occurred. Moon eclipse was not visible in India. Moreover, this happened before Miraz’s claim of Mahdi when he was 11 or 12 years old.
    Solar July 28,
    1851 CE
    Ramadhan 28, 1267 AH Starts 17:47
    Max. 20:04
    Ends 22:20
Eclipse was visible little before sunset in Qadian, sunset being at 19:31.
    2 Lunar March 21,
    1894 CE
    Ramadhan 13, 1311 AH Starts 18:58
    Max. 19:51
    Ends 20:44
Eclipse seen in Qadian After Sunset, which is the 14th of Ramadhan. This pair of eclipse actually goes against the Qadiani argument of 13th and 28th of Ramadhan!!! However, these eclipses were visible in other parts of the world and using this sign, Dr. Alexander Dowie claimed to be Messiah in the USA.
    Solar April 6,
    1894 CE
    Ramadhan 29, 1311 AH Starts 6:57
    Max. 9:24
    Ends 11:52
Eclipse was visible in the morning, sunrise in Qadian was at 6:11.
    3 Lunar March 11,
    1895 CE
    Ramadhan 13, 1312 AH Starts 7:25
    Max. 9:10
    Ends 10:54
Moon was below horizon in Qadian when eclipse occurred. Moon eclipse was not visible in Qadian.
    Solar March 26,
    1895 CE
    Ramadhan 28, 1312 AH Starts 14:21
    Max. 15:40
    Ends 17:00
Eclipse was visible in Qadian in the afternoon.

From the previous table, we can clearly see that this combination of eclipses has occurred at least more than once throughout the history.  Furthermore, please note that the pair of eclipses claimed by the Qadianis actually occurred in Qadian on the 14th and 28th of Ramadhan and not the 13th and 28th!  In either case, Qadiani argument is shown to be once more false.

As is their habit, the Qadiani (Ahmadi) leadership once more ignored clear evidence contrary to their faulty argument and resorted to further misrepresentation.  They claimed that the intent of the words “these signs had never happened from the creation of the heavens and the earth” was that these eclipses have never occurred while a claimant to being Mahdi or Messiah has been present! To support this argument and rejected the proof offered by Muslim scholars showing the feebleness of his arguments, Mirza Ghulam wrote:

“O Low Caste, Khabees, Enemy of Allah and Prophet! You have done this Jewish alteration in the (prophecy), so that this Grand Miracle of Holy Prophet(SAW) is hidden from this world …..your lie, O Worthless is exposed …… from which word did these stupid understood these meanings? O Morons! O Sightless! Disgrace to the Molviyat! …especially the head of the Dajjaleens, Abdul Haq Ghaznavi and his followers; Hundred thousand times shoes of curses may fall upon them. O Dirty Dajjal! Prophecy has been fulfilled but bigotry has blinded you.”
(Zamima Anjam-e-Atham, Roohani Khazain, Vol. 11, P. 330)”This has never happened and absolutely never happened, except in my time, since the beginning of universe till now, that lunar and solar eclipse had gathered in the month of Ramadhan in such a manner that some claimant of messengership or prophethood or muhaddathiyat (one who converse with God) had also been present.”
(Roohani Khazain, Vol. 9, P. 50)

“The meaning of prophecy is that this sign has not been to any other claimant, whether true or false. Only given to the Promised Mahdi. If these tyrant molvis (Muslim scholars) can present a similar occurrence of lunar and solar eclipse in the time of some other claimant then please do it; then I will no doubt become a liar.”
(Roohani Khazain, Vol. 11, P. 332)

“Combination of lunar and solar eclipse in Ramadhan has never taken place in the time of any Prophet or Messenger or muhaddith and since the birth of universe during the time of any claimant of messengership or prophethood or muhaddithiyat lunar and solar has never combined. Combination of Lunar and Solar eclipse and Mahdi is an unnatural phenomenon.”  (Roohani Khazain, Vol. 9, P. 84)

It is a sign of disbelief and hypocrisy of Qadiani leadership that they refute clear proofs and authentic hadiths of the holy Prophet(SAW) regarding Mahdi and insist upon their conjecture of an unauthentic saying attribute to Mohammad bin ‘Ali by a known liar! Certainly, no believer would require any further explanation to see the falsehood of the Qadiani claims. However, purely from an academic stand point, we offer the following observation:

  1. The prophecy of this unauthentic hadith is abundantly clear: the sign which has not occurred since the beginning of time is the specific combination of eclipses on the first and fifteenth day of Ramadhan. There is no mention whether this sign will occur before the birth, during the life, upon the claim, after the claim, or upon the death of the individual making the claim. Qadiani (Ahmadi) interpretation is simply without any merit.
  2. Even if, for the sake of discussion, we were to accept the Qadianis’ (Ahmadis) feeble interpretation, we still can show that Mirza Ghulam was not the only individual who based his claim on such a combination of eclipses.  Ample evidence for this stance is provided in the following books:
    • ‘Doosri Shadadat-e-Aasmani’ by Maulana Abu Ahmad
    • ‘Aimma-e-Talbis & Raees-e-Qadian’ by Maulana Abul Qasim Dilawari

Below, we have documented several such claimants.  Please do remember that Mirza Ghulam had stated that if such proof could be provided, then he would be shown to have been a liar.  Accurate and detailed calculations, using Jean Meeus’s Algorithm, was performed in 1998 by Khalid Shaukat for the following tables:

    No. Eclipse Gregorian
Name of the Claimant Claim and Comment
1 Lunar 07-11-0743 Rmz 14, 125 Saleh bin Tarif Burghwati Claimed Mahdihood and Prophethood and successfully ruled over his followers for 47 years. Later, he advocated his throne in favor of his son. (Aimma-e-Tilbees, Vol. 1, P. 192)
The combination of Eclipses matched exactly those of Mirza Ghulam: 14th and 28th of Ramadhan
    Solar 07-25-0743 Rmz 28, 125
2 Lunar 07-13-1851 Rmz 13, 1267 Mirza Ali Muhammad Bab Claimed to be Mahdi.  His movement is still alive and has split off into Babism and Bahaism.  They no longer claim to be Muslims.
(Double eclipses of 1829 and 1830 also could have been claimed for him; please note that Ali Muhammad died one month before the eclipse of 1851.
    Solar 07-28-1851 Rmz 28, 1267
    3 Lunar 11-15-1872 Rmz 13, 1289 Hussain Ali
Claimed to be the Promised One (Messiah) of every religion and a prophet.  His followers no longer claim to be Muslims.
(Double eclipses of 1829, 1830, 1851, and 1873 also could be claimed by him)
    Solar 11-30-1872 Rmz 28, 1289
4 Lunar 11-04-1873 Rmz 13, 1290 Mahdi Sudani Claimed to be Mahdi and began a successful movement to fight the British colonialists.
(Double eclipses of 1851, 1872 and 1895 also could be claimed by him).
Please note the specific solar eclipse used by him occurred on the 29th of Ramadhan.
    Solar 11-20-1873 Rmz 29, 1290
5 Lunar 03-21-1894 Rmz 13, 1311 Dr. Alexander Dowie, USA During the life time of Mirza Ghulam and appropriating the second double eclipse we previously mentioned, he claimed to be the Promised Messiah.
(Double eclipses of 1851, 1872, 1873, and 1895 also could be claimed by him – please note that he made the claim for the same eclipses as Mirza Ghulam)
    Solar 04-06-1894 Rmz 29, 1311

Once more, we can use Mirza Ghulam’s own statements to prove that he was a false claimant to being Mahdi, Messiah, and a Prophet.

For all those individuals, who after seeing all this proof, stubbornly insist on believing Mirza Ghulam’s claim to being Mahdi, we like to reproduce an earlier statement of Mirza:

“All those Hadiths in which the coming of Mahdi is foretold are not verifiable and cannot be relied upon.” (Haqeeqat-ul-Mahdi, Roohani Khazain, Vol. 14, P. 429)

We definitely disagree with Mirza Ghulam on this account and have in fact documented several authentic hadith of hazrat Muhammad(SAW) on this site [Read: Identification of the Prophesied Imam Mahdi].  However, isn’t this another sign of Mirza’s falsehood that he reversed course and attempted to take advantage of the eclipses which occurred during his life time by relying on deceitful alterations of an unauthentic Hadith?

“Tadhkiratu-Shahadatain”(1903)–English translation

The Narrative of Two Martyrdoms by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1903) is archived in the below, this is the official Qadiani-Ahmadi english translation. It was translated into english in 1984 by the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s. The 1984 english edition has what seems to be a post-script attached to it, this was not in the original. The original was also published in the Review of Religions of Nov-Dec 1903. Its unclear when the postcript was published. In 1907, MGA wrote Mian Abdul Rahman’s name as Sheikh ‘Abdur-Rahman (in Haqiqatul Wahy). Continue reading ““Tadhkiratu-Shahadatain”(1903)–English translation”

The #Ahmadiyya approach to hadith is totally against common sense and the 4 schools of thought

#Muslims should never discuss #hadith with #Ahmadis. The reason is quite simple, #ahmadis are taught to follow the revelations of MGA first, then they approach hadith and the Quran. #Ahmadis are essentially working backwards. The #wahabi approach to hadith seems to be the same. It seems that MGA was also a #wahabi (called #ahlehadith in British India), and thus took this from them. Sir Syed was also a Muslims of a #ahlehadith background, however, by 1875, he turned into a Quranist, which is totally fine, we don’t care, we allow Muslims to be adventerous in their beliefs, by 1877, Sir Syed denied the concept of the Mahdi. Nevertheless, this is what the British wanted in India. The British wanted to break Muslims reliance on Hanafi Fiqh, which was used by the #mughalempire as well as the #ottomanempire. In Saudia Arabia, the British created #wahabism and had them do a Jihad against the last Muslim empire, the Ottomans. The Ottomans controlled the oil in Iraq (al-basra) and had to be eliminated, thus they were taken out systematically and a puppet government was installed in Turkey in roughly 1924.

In the below, we have posted the reference from the 1900-1902 era wherein MGA confirms to #Ahmadis (and the world) that his revelations are above any and all hadith and any hadith which don’t match MGA’s revelations should be immediately discarded. We have also posted a reference from 7 years earlier, wherein MGA admits that after the Quran, Bukhari is the most authentic book. We have also posted scans from the English-ROR, which also prove the same.

Furthermore, in terms of hadith, especially when it comes to the Mahdi. #ahmadis cherry pick only 2 hadith, since the other 20+ hadith prove MGA to be a liar. Those 2 hadith are the famous one wherein it is claimed that “No Mahdi, except Esa” (which has been listed by the scholars are a lie) and the shia hadith on the eclipses. These are some classic cases wherein #ahmadis cherry pick as they work backwards to prove that MGA was true. As we all know, initially, from 1880–1891, MGA never mentioned the Mahdi at all. Then, in 1891, as he made his claims of being a Messiah, he was silent on the concept of the Mahdi. In 1892, MGA began to write that all the hadith on the Mahdi were faulty. By 1894, after reading about the pending eclipses, he fraudulently authenticated a Shia hadith that wasn’t even fulfilled properly. After MGA died, in the BA-5 (ocotober-1908), MGA’s ghost writers again wrote that all hadith about the Mahdi were wrong.
See RK: vol: 19, pg. 140, 1902-1902 era.  “””Ijaz e ahmadi”””

“the basis for our claim is not hadith but Quran and that wahi which comes to us. Yes, in support we also quote those hadith which are according to Quran and do not contradict my wahi.  As for the rest of the hadiths, i throw them away like waste paper..”

The scan work

In 1895, MGA wrote some different things on his formula of what Islam is
Arya Dharam, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 10, pp. 86-87

“Of the other books that are accepted by us the Sahih of Bukhari ranks as the first. All its Ahadith which are not opposed to the Holy Qur’an are in our view authoritative. Next comes Sahih Muslim. We accept its authority subject to the condition that it should not be opposed to the Holy Qur’an and Sahih Bukhari. Next to them are the compilations of Tirmidhi, Ibn-e-Majah, Muattah of Imam Malik, Nassa’i, Abu Da’ud and Dar Qutni, which we regard as authoritative so long as they are not opposed to the Holy Qur’an and Bukhari and Muslim. These are our religious books and these are the conditions under which we accept them….(…)”

Leaving Ahmadiyyat: The Islah Pasand Incident

This entire entry was taken from here.

The story

I would like to start off with this: I have the utmost of respect for my parents. Although I do not agree with them theologically sometimes, I have nothing but appreciation for everything they have provided me with. Many of the things contained within are my own opinions however, I never state an opinion without at least providing one source from the Holy Qur’an, Ahadith or Ahmadi literature itself. My intention is never to offend any person’s beliefs and if you disagree with what I have written, you have that right.

This is an account about our experience with Jama’at-e-Ahmadiyya Islah Pasand. Note: AGJ stands for Abdul Ghaffar Janbah.

Mother’s Experience

One afternoon, 3 years ago, my Mum was listening to a Friday Sermon of KMIV in which he spoke of the divorce of his daughter. My Mum was confused as to what the meaning of his speech was but allowed AutoPlay to continue to the next video. The next video was of a man (AGJ) claiming that he had told KMIV about some prophetic dreams that he had. KMIV told him that if he wanted to continue this line of enquiry, he would have to do it on his own and that he was thus excommunicated from the Jama’at. She sat there and thought “who is this guy?” Bear in mind, my Mum is blind, so she had no control over what comes on next. The next video had something to do with KMII and some very ungentlemanly accusations laid at his feet…

Days… Weeks… Months went by and my Mum was still listening to these videos. One night, my Dad confronted my Mum and said, “what on Earth are you listening to?”, my Mum replied, “you have to listen to this.” After a few minutes of listening to the video my Dad says, “what so you don’t believe that Hadhrat Musleh-Maoud was the Promised Reformer?” She said, “no that’s not it, but you have to listen to what this man has to say.” Then came the big claim that he made, “I am the Musleh-Maoud with whom the prayer of Hadhrat Muhammadi Maryam at Chilla Hoshiarpur was answered.” “WHAT???” said Dad. “He’s claiming to be the Promised Son? But Hadhrat Mirza Basheer-Ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad reformed the Jama’at as per the prophecy of Musleh-Maoud!!!” He told Mum to stop listening to ramblings of this Satanic person. That night, my Father had a dream about AGJ to the effect of him giving a sermon and Dad was sat on the ground listening, I don’t remember the details exactly. He had a similar dream the next day.

Herr Janbah and his claims

I want to say that my parents thoroughly researched his claims. But how do you research the claims of a man who hasn’t done anything yet? Could it be that he just found some loop-holes in the Ahmadi narrative and is exploiting them for his own gain? I want to briefly mention what exactly he claims to be. His most pedestrian claim would be that he is the Mujaddid (Spiritual Reviver) of the 15th Century AH. Okay that’s fair enough I suppose… (It gets a bit bookie from here on so put your seatbelts on). So, remember how Mirza Ghulam Ahmad received a revelation about a Promised Son? Yeah that’s him as well. But not only is he the Zaki Ghulam… as per that same prophecy it is told that this son will have messianic qualities, he is, as a result ‘Isa ibn-e-Maryam (the Second Manifestation of Jesus and the Messiah) as foretold in the Hadith. Okayyyy? I thought Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed to be that??? So, is he saying that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a liar? Nope he says that his claims are in line with the writings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Okayyy then what is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad? He never claimed to be the Messiah he was simply the Mahdi described in the Hadith about the latter days or was confused by the signs of these two people. I have discussed this further in the section titled- Analysis of Claims.

Moreover, he speaks of how KMII created the concept of Khilafatul Masih to establish a Gaddi Nashin (hereditary successorship). Before this, there sat a group that made executive decisions together (called the Anjuman) but at the death of the first Sadr of the Anjuman (Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Din), the succession problem created a split in the movement of Lahoris (under Muhammad Ali) and Qadianis (under Basheer-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad). Of course, most people joined the son of the founder for the old Gaddi Nasheen traditions.

There are other supplementary claims, like the standard “Allah speaks with him” so that makes him a prophet too. He had a series of dreams in which Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is walking with him in the gardens of heaven and told him to pray more and have taqwa. Allah informed him in one night during prostration about his fate. He says, something to the effect of ‘the Ghaffar that went into prostration was not the same Ghaffar who arose’. I believe this is a reference to the following Hadith,

It was narrated from ‘Ali that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Mahdi is one of us, the Ahl-ul-Bayt. Allah will rectify him in a single night.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 4085; English translation: Vol. 5, Book 36, Hadith 4085)

Which doesn’t make sense because this Hadith is about the Mahdi and not the Messiah (he claims the latter).

I guess by the style of that last paragraph, you may have gathered that I don’t buy this. Well the last (almost) three years have been rough for me. In my own time, I had continued some research about Ahmadiyyat, but I was still following the same message. I thought that, “if Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is true, then I will remain in his Jama’at if it means paying the chanda, attending meetings and giving speeches in defence of the Khilafat”. No matter what I think of individual Ahmadis or my feelings about the glorification of Huzoor and his being surrounded by guards 24/7 and driving around in a supercar… These are simply the worldly rewards of leading a pious life.

Credit where it’s due

The one piece of credit that I can give to AGJ is that he led me to a path of questioning Ahmadiyyat as a whole. My parents started to listen to his lectures and watched his Friday Sermons. They gained enough confidence to accept his Bai’at. My Dad attended an Islah Pasand Jalsa in the UK on his own. Along the way he managed to convert my grandmother, Uncle and Aunt to this sect. When my Dad came back, he told us stories about intellectuals in this new Jama’at. Around this time, I had been going through a bit of a crisis of faith, but I still respected Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as an extremely vital scholar of his age.

Later, I became a bit of a religious zealot and wanted to read the books of the Promised Messiah. In June 2018 I started with Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. I finished parts I & II in one night (it is a very short volume). In these volumes, I found many references to three hundred incontrovertible, rational arguments for the divine origin of the Holy Qur’an which was just a bit annoying to keep reading if I am honest. These parts are like 137 pages long and part II is literally a preface to the entire rest of the book. Continuous mention of a Rs. 10,000 reward for anyone who can produce a book of the same standard seemed a bit ostentatious to me. Given that the quality or standard of literature is extremely subjective. If someone did, for instance, produce three hundred incontrovertible, rational arguments for the divine origin of the Baghavad Gita – I’m not so sure he would have given away his estate.

The Jalsa

I was encouraged to visit Germany for their Jalsa. I flew there with my family. We visited his place and it was about 1am in the morning. It was like going to some distant relative’s house who you don’t know too well. This continued for an hour and then we left for the hotel. Around 9am we were dropped off at this centre and there were a few people there. Over time, this increased to 30 or so. There was this one older guy (I won’t name his out of respect for their privacy) who kept talking with me about how Ahmadis are so illogical etc. I felt like I had no right to be there. All these people had joined because they had extensive readings of the Promised Messiah. But all they talked about how great it is that I’ve joined the true Jama’at of the Promised Messiah.

There was a Q&A session which was 3 hours long. When I was listening to the questions, it felt like the people asking the questions had full knowledge of the answers. One guy even asked about the Musleh-Maud prophecy and prefaced the question with something like “we already know the answer but…” So, I was thinking that this is literally an echo chamber to substantiate their pre-existing beliefs. This isn’t a very healthy kind of environment to be in. Though asking questions was very much encouraged, I wasn’t sure about the kind of response that I would receive. I was sat with my Uncle and I was speaking with him about his views. I said to him “I’m not so convinced about this stuff”. He said, “what do you mean?” I said “Well he’s saying that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s Jama’at was messed up only like 6 years after his death. So, what’s the point in all of this?” he replied, “that’s a good point and started talking to me about Victory of Islam and how he is working on some plan to unite the entire Ummah.” I sarcastically said, “sure”. So, I got the courage to get up and ask him a question along the lines of:

“If corruption was spread thought the Jama’at of the Promised Messiah just 6 years after his death, then what kind of protocol or plan do you have in place so that after you, your Jama’at stays on the path of Allah, the Holy Prophet and the Promised Messiah?”

He said that my question was valid, and that these problems would continue throughout human life so long as Nafs (ego) continued to exist inside the people. So, Allah sends his prophets, but the problems are the fault of the humans who don’t receive clear instructions. I would say that his answer was honest. But really… hearing that, made me doubt religion more. Isn’t Messiah supposed to cancel the Jizya, break the cross and kill the swine? Don’t these people exist as signs for the end times? Isn’t the world supposed to end after the Imam Mahdi and Isa arrive? And yet the Imam Mahdi has arrived over a century ago and Isa himself is back on the Earth and all he is doing is posting YouTube clips about how the false Promised Son has loads of money and it upsets him. This is the kind of thing that puts me off prophecies. There is so much legroom to interpret, that any single thing could allow the prophecy to be fulfilled.

No one can doubt that the Jama’at had its Golden Age under the auspices of Khalifatul Masih II. But the glad tidings of a Promised Son problem that I had could not be reconciled to be honest. And I didn’t see AGJ as a suitable replacement.

Analysis of Claims

So, AGJ claims to be the Mujaddid of the 15th Century. I cannot really dispute this because it is a kind of general claim that anyone can make if they focus their work on the “true Islam”. But it is also confusing because previous Mujaddids didn’t really claim to be such before Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. This was something attributed to them after their deaths. Like “oh Shah Waliullah must have been the Mujaddid of the 12th century”. Perhaps there can be multiple Mujaddids in one age. Anyways, this is not falsifiable until we all die and find out.

Secondly, the 1886 announcement of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad states that the Promised Son will be from his progeny (tukham). AGJ claims this is a bit misleading because this means spiritual progeny (as opposed to physical). He justifies this by quoting the verse in the Qur’an:

“Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; and Allah has full knowledge of all things.” (Qur’an 33:41 Ahmadi Referencing).

Which can be coupled with the Hadith in ibn-Majah which I will paraphrase: “…if [Ibrahim] had lived he would have been a Siddiq and a Prophet” (Ibn-Majah Volume 1, Book 6, Hadith 1511). He says that this illustrates that hereditary Prophethood in Islam has no basis. In the Mosaic dispensation a relative of the previous Prophet would usually take the mantle of Prophethood. An example would be the Prophethoods of Moses and Aaron (who were brothers). So, his apologists say that this proves that the Muhammadan dispensation of Prophets, mujaddids, Khalifas etc. cannot be hereditary because all the Holy Prophet’s sons died. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was merely the Muhammadi Maryam (Mary-like figure for Islam) who “gave spiritual birth” to the Messiah (AGJ). Surah Hud provides some insight into this idea as well,

“And Noah cried unto his Lord and said: ‘My Lord, verily, my son is of my family, and surely Thy promise is true, and Thou art the Most Just of judges’ (46) He said: ‘O Noah, he is surely not of thy family; he is indeed a man of unrighteous conduct. So ask not of Me that of which thou hast no knowledge. I advise thee lest thou become one of the ignorant (47).’”

Here, Allah consoles Noah that his son was not his family because he was a disbeliever and didn’t join his father on the Ark. And so a son is one that carries the legacy and not necessarily physical progeny. So, more definitions essentially. Again, this is not falsifiable so I will leave it at that.

The third claim is one that I can apply more analysis to because there are actual apologetics by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. AGJ’s most controversial claim is that he is the Messiah ibn-Maryam and that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was confused about his actual claim. He takes this claim back and forth sometimes (he mostly calls himself Zaki Ghulam Masih-uz-Zamaan probably through not wanting to be scrutinised harshly by non-Ahmadi muslims). I find this to be quite ridiculous. The following passage illustrates that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had a full understanding of the concepts of Mahdi and Messiah. This is from a segment of Barahin V called “Laying to rest some doubts” which is a dialogue between Syed Muhammad Abdul Wahid (SMAW) and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad:

SMAW- “With regard to the Promised Mahdi, there are found in some ahadith words such as ‘from among the progeny of Fatimah’, and ‘from my progeny’, and ‘from among the people of my household’, and it is also written ‘his name will be my name, and the name of his father will be that of my father’. Please explain what is meant by each of them.”

MGA—“My claim is not that I am the Mahdi who conforms to the progeny of Fatimah, from my progeny, etc. Rather, my claim is that of being the Promised Messiah, and regarding the Promised Messiah, there is no statement of any muhaddith [scholar of hadith] that he would be from among the progeny of Fatimah etc. Nevertheless, at the same time—as every muhaddith says—I also say that all the ahadith regarding the Promised Mahdi are moot and suspect and not one of them is authentic. The degree to which fabrication has taken place in these ahadith has not taken place in any other hadith. During the time of the Abbasid Khulafa’ etc. the Khulafa’ were very fond of pronouncing themselves the Promised Mahdi. So, for this reason, some ahadith describe the Mahdi as being from the progeny of ‘Abbas and some from the progeny of Fatimah. There are some ahadith which also say that ‘He will be a man from my Ummah.’ But essentially all of these ahadith are not worthy of any trust. This is not just my word; all eminent scholars of the Ahl-e-Sunnah have been saying the very same. As opposed to these ahadith, this hadith recorded by Ibn-e-Majah is very authentic: there is no other Mahdi; ‘Isa is the very same Mahdi who is to come.” (Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya pt. V: English Translation, Laying to rest some doubts, pg. 477-478, 2018)

Which is interesting in many ways: First, practically every hadith that you read about Mahdi being from the Ahl-ul-Bayt and the progeny of Fatimah is graded either Hasan (good) or Sahih (authentic). It starts to get problematic when the hadith about Mahdi become more detailed, that’s where they become da’if (weak). Second, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad uses the following to justify with a physical sign that he is the Promised Messiah and Mahdi:

“For Our Mahdi, there are two Signs which have never appeared before since the creation of the heavens and the earth, namely, the moon will be eclipsed on the first night of Ramadhan and the sun will be eclipsed on the middle day, and these signs have not appeared since God Created the heavens and the earth.” (Sunan Darul Qutni)

We all know about this hadith. The hadith is talking about the Mahdi who, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said, is a fabrication. But he says that the eclipses are a sign of his [Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s] truthfulness. Okay but in Barahin V he says he’s claiming to be the Messiah and not Mahdi. “Isa and Mahdi are the same”. Yeah but you just said that Mahdi doesn’t exist. Furthermore, this hadith is attributed to al-Daraqutni.

What’s the problem? Well… it is historically well-known that Daraqutni contains many da’if and moudu’ (fabricated) hadith. This is not at the fault of Daraqutni himself as his purpose for writing his Sunan was so that there was a reference book for these kinds of hadith so they could be spotted. But this makes it very difficult to separate the authentic from the fabricated. Looking more closely at the hadith, the Holy Prophet states that this phenomenon “has not appeared since God created the heavens and the Earth” and that this is a sign for the Mahdi. Although total solar and total lunar eclipses in the same month are extremely rare, they have in fact occurred in Ramadhan (rarer still) and on the appointed days as early as 283 AH.

So, was there also a Mahdi present at that time? If the Mahdi is a fabrication, the attribution of this as a sign to MGA is illogical because it’s not a legitimate hadith according to himself. If the Mahdi is authentic, the attribution of this as a sign for MGA is still illogical because he claims to be the Promised Messiah and not the Mahdi. One could say that the classical scholars mixed up the two characters and this was supposed to be a sign for the Messiah, but that would require substantial evidence. Interestingly, I read somewhere that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said that he would pay so many Rs. if someone could prove that this hadith is fabricated. It is impossible to prove whether someone said something if that person is not present to verify it. But if you have multiple accounts of someone saying something, then that is more reliable representation of that person’s speech.

Finally, there is a strange footnote in Haqiqatul-Wahi where Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claims that he is not of Mogul descent but is rather Persian and some of his grandmothers were Sayyeds (Haqiqatul-Wahi English translation, footnote 1, sub-footnote, pg. 103-104, 2018). Well, what is a Sayyed? A Sayyed is one who claims direct descent from the Holy Prophet through his grandchildren Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn who of course were the children of… Ali and Fatimah. So, a Sayyed is one who claims to be from the progeny of Fatimah. Here lies an inconsistency. He could have easily used this to leverage his claim of being the Mahdi. So why didn’t he? He, in fact, did in many ilham and announcements which you can find in books such as Tadhkirah and looking at the original sources in the books he wrote. My preferred strategy is to download a pdf copy in Acrobat Reader and searching for keywords such as “Mahdi”. A significant portion of Haqiqatul-Wahi is dedicated to refuting his interlocutors about why he is the Mahdi.

Essentially, there is a myriad of evidence which shows that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed to be the Messiah and Mahdi, though I am not so sure why he retracted this later in Barahin V. This shows, at least that, AGJ is in the wrong about Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his supposed confusion. So there is a contradiction in his and in Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s claims.

Some supplementary beliefs

It is also said that Allah had told AGJ that he would marry KMIV’s daughter (the one referred to before) and if this didn’t happen then he would incur Allah’s displeasure. That’s why she was divorced according to him. So Muhammadi Begum pt. II. He also offered a Mubahila (prayer duel) with KMV & Co. and he was supposed to die or something (clearly didn’t happen). He also has a cute slogan which is “Freedom for All, Slavery for None”. He has written this book called Virtue is God which is supposed to be a response to Socrates’ Virtue is Knowledge idea. There is also a deadline on his reign to which he says he is going to unite the entire Muslim Ummah, live for a few years and then he will die in 2028.

Final notes

Anyways, this situation had fragmented my relationship with my mum quite a bit, even though she means the world to me. There was constant guilt-tripping about not accepting the Imam of the Age and it had a terrible effect of my self-esteem. Though we are in a good place right now and we constantly talk about religion and Ahmadiyyat and there is a lot more understanding between us. My mum is nothing but a pious and god-fearing woman and I have the utmost respect for the extent of her belief, but I have to call out logical inconsistency when I see it.

I really appreciate the support (from the ex- and questioning Ahmadis) and the scrutiny (from the well-intentioned Ahmadis) I receive here. It really helps me to look at my arguments more objectively to make sure that I am being representative in my analysis of people’s beliefs. I apologise for the length of this post, some of the quotes were quite long and the narrative and explanations of my views were probably long-winded but that is just what learning to be a writer is like. I would like to leave you with the following quote and parting words:

We take our inspiration, not from the sky and the unseen, but directly from life itself– Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Truly the only certainty in this life is that we are born and will one day die.كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ. But what we do in between is how we are remembered after we are gone and it is critical to the legacy and values we leave to our children.

Peace be upon you and thank you for your readership.

ARBA‘IN, a book by MGA, quotes and data

The full name of the book series is “ARBA‘IN” (LI ITMAMIL-HUJJATI ‘ALAL-MUKHALIFIN), in english as “The Forty” (Divine Arguments Against All Opponents). MGA had promised to write 40 booklets, however, he stopped at 4. Just like what they did with Braheen e Ahmadiyya and the promise of 50 volumes, as it was shrunk to 5. This 4-part booklet series was published in 1900, in Urdu at the Diya’ul-Islam Press, Qadian. This 4 part book seems to be in RK pages 343—end. MGA issued an Urdu leaflet (Arba‘in No. 1) on July 23rd, 1900. The Parcharak newspaper of Jullundur criticised the Urdu leaflet Arba‘in No. 1 to which the AI-Hakam replied on September 16th, 1900. This book is important for many reasons, the biggest reason is that MGA abrogated Jihad in this book.

Ruhani Khaza’in, volume 17, page 343:

“”Today, in order to satisfy all seekers of knowledge, I invite all my opponents, non-believers that I propose to publish forty flyers. So on the day of Judgment, I can present to God Almighty that I have fulfilled my mandate. So now, with all due respect and humility, I address all Muslim clergy, Christian clergy, Hindu clergy and Pundits and Aryans to whom I send this flyer and inform them that I have been sent to this world in order to uplift morality, and reform beliefs and remove weaknesses of faith. My step is in the footstep of Jesus, peace be upon him, and it is why I am called the Promised Messiah. And I have been commanded that I spread the word of God and of
truth by manifesting heavenly signs and teaching piety. I am against raising the sword for the purpose of spread of religion and to cause bloodshed in the name of religion. I am a Prophet of God and I try to remove all mistakes and weaknesses.”” (see Hidden Treasures of Islam).
[Arba‘in, no. 4, p. 1, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 430]

“””That if someone makes a false claim of prophethood or to be appointed by Allah, he would never attain to the period of the prophethood of the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be on him.”””(See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in No. 1, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 343-346]

“”””Today, for the purpose of conveying the message in a conclusive manner, I have made up my mind to publish forty announcements inviting those who oppose and deny me, so that on the Day of Judgement I should be able to plead before God, the One, that I had fulfilled the purpose for which I had been sent. So, with full respect and humility, I send this announcement to Muslim and Christian divines, and to Hindus and Arya Pundits, informing them that I have been sent to the world for the reformation of moral, doctrinal and spiritual weaknesses and errors. I follow in the footsteps of Jesusas, and, in this sense, I am called the Promised Messiah. I have been commanded to spread the truth in the world through miraculous signs and holy teachings. I am opposed to the use of the sword in support of the faith and the slaying of God’s creatures in the name of religion. I have been appointed that, so far as it may be possible for me, I should remove all these errors from the minds of the Muslims and should call them to pure morals, perseverance, meekness, justice and righteousness. I proclaim to all the Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Aryas, that I have no enemy in the world. I love human beings with the love that a compassionate mother has for her children and even more so. I am the enemy only of the false doctrines which slay the truth. Human sympathy is my duty, and discarding falsehood, idolatry, every type of misconduct and wrongdoing, injustice, and immorality, is my principle.

What has roused my sympathy is that I have discovered a gold mine and have been informed of a deposit of precious stones. In this mine I have been fortunate enough to find a shining and priceless diamond. Its value is so great that if I were to divide its price among the whole of mankind, each of them would become wealthier than the person who owns the largest amount of gold and silver in the world. What is that diamond? It is the True God, and to acquire Him means to recognize Him, to believe in Him truly, to establish the relationship of true love with Him, and to receive true blessings from Him. Having found such great wealth, it would be a great wrong that I should deprive mankind of it and that they should die of hunger while I live in luxury. This I will not do. My heart burns at the contemplation of their poverty and hunger. My soul is in travail at the perception of their darkness and privation. I desire that their houses should be filled with heavenly wealth and that they should acquire so many jewels of truth and certainty that they should be filled to their capacity.

Of course everyone loves his own species. Even the ants love their own kind, unless they happen to be overcome by some selfish desire. Therefore, he who calls people to God Almighty has an obligation to love them the most. And I love mankind the most. I have no personal enmity with anyone; I am the enemy only of their misconduct and of the wrongs they commit and of their disobedience and rebellion. Out of my eager love for mankind, I offer them the treasure that I have received, which is the key to all the treasures and bounties of Paradise. The fact that the treasures that have been bestowed upon me comprise of real diamonds, gold and silver can be easily ascertained. All these coins and jewels bear the royal mark, that is to say, I have heavenly testimonies which no one else has. I have been told that of all the faiths, Islam is the only true faith; and that of all guidance, the guidance contained in the Qur’an alone is true in every respect and is free from human interpolation. I have been made to understand that of all the Messengersas, the one who has brought the most perfect holy and wise teaching and who practically demonstrated human excellences at the highest level is our lord and master Muhammad, the Chosen Onesa. I have been informed through pure and sacred revelation vouchsafed to me by God Almighty that I am the Promised Messiah and the Promised Mahdi sent by Him, and that I am the Hakam [Arbiter] of the internal and external differences. The Holy Prophetsa has honoured me by bestowing upon me the names of Messiah and Mahdi. God has also called me by the same names in His direct word. What is more, the condition of the world in the present age also demanded that these should be my names. These are thus the three witnesses to these names of mine. I call to witness my God, Who is the Master of heaven and earth, that I am from Him and He bears witness to me through His signs. If anyone can compete with me in the matter of heavenly signs, then I am false. If anyone can prove himself my equal in the matter of the acceptance of prayers, then I am false. If anyone can prove himself my equal in expounding the verities and the fine points of the Holy Qur’an, then I am false. If anyone can prove my equal in disclosing that which is hidden and foretelling, with the mighty Power of God, the mysteries before their time, then I am not from Him.

Where now are the Christian ministers who have said that, God forbid, no prophecy or miraculous matter was disclosed by our lord and the lord of mankind, Muhammad, the Chosen Onesa? I say truly that he alone is the perfect man whose prophecies and acceptance of prayers and display of other miraculous matters is something which even now rages like the ocean through his true followers. Which other religion beside Islam possesses this quality and this power? Where are the people, and in which country do they dwell, who can compete with Islam in the matter of Divine blessings and signs? A person who follows a religion which does not partake of the heavenly spirit, wastes his faith. That religion alone is worth the name which is alive and possesses the spirit of life and leads one to the Living God. I claim not only that the hidden is disclosed to me through the holy revelation vouchsafed to me by God Almighty and that miraculous signs are shown to me, but I also say that whoever follows me with a pure heart and with true love for God and His Prophetsa, will also receive this bounty from God Almighty. But remember that this door is closed upon all opponents; otherwise let someone from them compete with me in the matter of heavenly signs. I affirm that no one will be able to do so. This is a living proof of the truth of Islam and the truth of my claim….
Peace be upon him who follows the guidance.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian
The Promised Messiah
July 23, 1900″”” (See Essence of Islam, vol. 4).
(Arba‘in, p. 1 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, v. 17, p. 343 footnote)

“””After this flyer I will issue a flyer every fortnight provided I do not face any hurdle till I complete the number forty, or any one of my opponents without exuding any filthy air that is perceptible to anyone, comes in the field, and like me show a sign, but I must remind here that this is not intended to be any Mubahalah (Prayer Duel) with anyone or asking any prophecy in respect of anyone. This competition is about the person at whose hand God almighty reveal hidden affairs, manifest sign and accept the prayers, these should be completely be detached from any interest
personal or otherwise. Refrain from any prophecy that is intended to disturb common peace or against the Government or related to humiliation or death of anyone.”””(see Hidden Treasures).

(Arba‘in, No. 1, pp. 2-4, Ruhani Khaza’in, v. 17, p. 344-346)

“”””I am called the Promised Messiah. I am commanded to spread the truth in the world only through pure teachings and extraordinary signs. I am against the use of the sword for the sake of religion. I am commissioned to remove, as much as I can, all wrong notions from among the Muslims and to invite them to the ways of pure morals, forbearance, meekness, fairness and truthfulness. I declare unto all Muslims, Christians, Hindus and Aryas that I have no enemy in the
world. I love mankind as does a mother, even more than that. I am an enemy only to such false beliefs which destroy the truth. Sympathy for man is my duty and hatred of falsehood, idol worship, transgression and every kind of wickedness, injustice and evil behaviour is my principle. The real reason for the effulgence of my sympathy is the fact that I have discovered a mine of gold and Jewels and it is a good fortune that I have found in this mine, a priceless diamond full of lustre. The price of that diamond is so great that if I were to distribute it amongst all my brethren of mankind each one of them would become richer than the one who possesses in the world
today notwithstanding the greatest quantity of gold and silver.

What is that diamond? The True God. To get to Him is to recognize Him, to have a true faith in Him, to seek Him it would be the height of injustice that after possessing so much wealth I should keep mankind deprived of it, that I should enjoy it while they should starve. It is absolutely impossible for me to do so. My soul is sore vexed when I see their poverty and starvation and my heart sinks when I find them in darkness. I want to fill them with heavenly wealth, and I wish them to get as many jewels of truth as humanly possible….

It has been made clear to me that among Divine messengers, he, whose teaching is perfect, holy and full of wisdom to the utmost degree, is our Chief, Muhammad Mustafasa.”””(See Hidden Treaures).
[Arba‘in, No. II Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 374-378]

“””I announce in the name of Him in whose hand lies my life, that if you people clear your minds and wish to see another Divine sign, then the All-Powerful God, without being subject to your demand, has the power to manifest a sign out of His own will and authority. I am certain that if you repent sincerely, and demand a sign from me and promise God that if some extraordinary sign, which is beyond human power, is manifested, you will discard all ill-will and rancour, and, seeking only the pleasure of God, will make the pledge of allegiance to me, surely God Almighty will manifest some sign, for He is Merciful and Beneficent. But I do not have the choice to appoint two or three days for the manifestation of a sign or to follow your desires. It is at the choice of God Almighty to appoint whatever date pleases Him….

For the adoption of this method it will be necessary that at least forty leading Maulavis like Maulavi Muhammad Hussain Sahib of Batala, Maulavi Nadhir Hussain Sahib of Delhi, Maulavi ‘Abdul Jabbar Sahib of Ghazni, now of Amritsar, Maulavi Rashid Ahmad Sahib of Ghangoha, and Maulavi Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib of Golrah should publish an agreement in a newspaper attested by fifty respectable Muslims that if a sign, which is truly extraordinary, is manifested, they will give up their opposition out of the fear of God the Glorious, and will make the pledge of allegiance to me.

Should this method be unacceptable…there is another simpler and easier method….It is that, purely out of fear of God Almighty and out of mercy for the Muslims, you should call a meeting in Batala, Amritsar or Lahore. This meeting should be attended, as far as may be possible, by
a large number of respected divines and men of the world. I shall also attend with a number of my followers. Then all of them should supplicate thus:

Lord, if You know that this person is an impostor and is not from You, and is neither the Promised Messiah nor the Mahdi, then may You remove this cause of dissension from among the Muslims and safeguard Islam and the Muslims against his mischief, as You did safeguard the Muslims against the mischief of Musailama Kadhdhab and Aswad ‘Ansi by removing them from the world, but if he is from You and our minds and intellects are at fault, then may You Powerful One bestow understanding upon us so that we may not be ruined, and make manifest such matters and signs in his support that we should be satisfied that he is from You.

When this supplication is made, my followers and I will say Amin aloud. After that, I shall pray, holding in my hand all those revelations that I have set out….I will pray as follows:

Lord, if these revelations, which are mentioned in this pamphlet that I hold in my hand, and on the basis of which I consider myself the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, and hold Jesusas to be dead, are not Your words, and if, in Your estimation, I am a liar and impostor and dajjal who is the cause of dissension among the Muslims, and if I am under Your wrath, I supplicate You earnestly that within one year from this date You cross out my name from among the living and ruin all my enterprises and wipe out my every sign from the earth. But if I am from You and these revelations which I hold in my hand are from You and I am a recipient of Your grace, then O Mighty Benefactor, cause my Jama‘at to grow in an extraordinary manner in the coming year and bestow extraordinary blessings upon us, and bless my life and send down Your heavenly support.

When this supplication is finished, all opponents should say Amin. It would be proper that everyone should come to this meeting for the purpose of prayer with pure and serene hearts and not in a spirit of victory or defeat. This prayer should not be considered a Mubahalah [prayerduel]
because its benefit or harm is limited to me alone….The prayer should be offered with concentration and great earnestness. Sincere prayer finds acceptance with God. If all my enterprise is not in the cause of God and is an imposture and a show, the prayers of representative Muslims will soon be heard. But if my Movement is heavenly and has been initiated by God Himself, my supplication will be accepted. O you men of honour! Respond to this request of mine. There is no need for a large gathering, it would be enough if forty representative divines were to take part in the prayer. But they should not be less than forty, for this number has a blessed connection with the acceptance of prayer.”””(See Essence of Islam, vol. 3).

[Arba‘in, no. 2, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 374-375]

“”””It was for me that God caused the solar and lunar eclipses in heaven during the month of Ramadan, and caused numerous other signs to be manifested on earth, and thus, in accordance with Divine practice, my truth was conclusively established. God, in Whose hand rests my life, is my witness that if you cleanse your hearts and seek other signs from God, the Omnipotent One is capable of showing a sign according to His own will and power, without being subject to
any of your importunities. And I am sure that if you demand a sign from me, with a genuine desire to repent, and promise earnestly before God that if an extraordinary sign appears which is beyond human power, you will shed all this rancour and enmity and, purely for the sake of winning God’s pleasure, will enter into the pledge of Bai‘at with me, then God, being so Kind and Merciful, will certainly show you some sign. However, it is not within my power to fix a period of two or three days for showing a sign, or to do exactly as you wish. It is the prerogative of God to choose the time.””” (See Essence of Islam, vol. 5).

[Arba‘in, No. III, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 387-402]

“”””In Lahore, Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf Sahib, Dila‘dar of Canals, under the false doctrines of ignorant and misguided clerics, … has stated confidently that if anyone falsely claims to be a Prophet or a Messenger or a commissioned one by God, and thus seeks to mislead people,
he can survive such imposture for twenty-three years and even more. What he means to say is that the survival of such an impostor for more than twenty-three years cannot be a proof of his truth. He also stated that he can cite the names of many people who made such false claims and continued to assert for more than twenty-three years that they were recipients of God’s word….

Through this announcement, I demand from Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf Sahib to cite such an instance as promised in his signed document. I know for certain that this principle, which is set out in the Holy Qur’an by God Himself, can never be contravened….

It is for this reason that I have made this public announcement together with an offer of five hundred rupees as an award for the citation of a single instance to the contrary, and I am prepared to deposit this amount in any government bank in advance. If Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf Sahib and those who think like him, whose names I have mentioned in this announcement, will cite an instance with adequate proof in accordance with the Holy
Qur’an, in which a person who falsely claimed to be a Prophet or a Messenger or a commissioned one of God, continued to publish his alleged revelations for more than twenty-three years, I shall pay such a person the sum of five hundred rupees in cash. They will be at liberty to cite such an instance from anywhere in the world within a fortnight of the publication of this announcement.””” (See Essence of Islam, vol. 3).

[Arba‘in, no. 4, pp. 5–7, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 434–436]

“”””A friend of mine (Based on the narration of Miyan Wazir Khan from Afghanistan, it
seems that this friend is Maulavi Muhammad Ahsan. See Riwayat-e- Sahabah, volume 14, page 363. [Mirza Bashir Ahmad]), with good intentions, had raised a point with me that verse {{(And if he had forged…to Us (surah al-Haqqah, 69:45)}} was special to the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and was not applicable in the case of any other claimant of revelation…. I explained my point of view to him. The same night, I experienced the condition which generally presages my revelations. The scene of the discussion was replayed before me and then I received the revelation:

[Arabic] Tell them: The true guidance is the guidance of Allah. [Publishers]

This indicates that the connotation of these verses which had been disclosed to me by Allah is the correct one.(See Tadhkirah)
Arba‘in, no. 2, p. 5 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 350 footnote

“””It is part of human nature that a believer on experiencing some special divine manifestation calls down blessings. Thus the revelation: They will call down blessings on you, indicates that
those who will be close to me all the time shall witness many Signs and will be so affected by them that often their eyes will start running and, in the height of emotion, they will call down blessings on me involuntarily. This is happening and this prophecy is fulfilled over and over again.””” (See Tadhkirah).

Arba‘in, RK-17, page 435

“”My teachings contain orders as well as prohibitions and renovations of important injunctions of the Shariat. For this reason, God has named my teachings and revelations (Wahi) that comes to me as FALAK (Boat)….thus, see, God has declared my revelations, my teachings and my allegiance to be Noah’s Ark and as the basis of salvation for all human beings. Let him who has eyes see and him who has ears hear”””

Arba‘in, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 442-443

“””Dear people! you are living during a time which had been foretold by all the Prophetsas and you have seen the person—i.e., the Promised Messiah—whom many Prophets had desired to see. Hence, fortify your faiths, and set right your paths, and purify your hearts and win the pleasure of your Lord. Friends! you are in this temporary abode but for a few days, and you must remember your ultimate abode. Every year some of your friends depart from you, and soon it will be you departing from your friends. So be alert and let not the poison of this corrupt age affect you. Cleanse your morals, purge yourselves of rancour, malice and pride, and display moral miracles to the world.””” (See Essence of Islam. vol. 4).

RK, v. 17, p. 443; marginal note; Arba`een Number 4

[Marginal note:]“””Allaah Almighty has gradually decreased jihaad, that is, the severity of wars/fighting. In the time of Hadrat Moosaa [Moses] the severity was so much that even accepting faith could not save [one] from being killed and even infant children were murdered/killed. Then in the time of our Prophet, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, the killing of children and the old and women was forbidden and then for certain nations, their being saved from punishment was accepted merely by the payment of ‘jizyah’ [a tax levied on non-Muslims for exemption from military duty] in lieu of faith. And then in the time of Maseeh Mau`ood the command for jihaad was entirely abolished.””” (see also Nuzhat Haneef, page 171).

Arba‘in, no. 4, p. 15 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 444–445 footnote

“”””(A) In His revelation God has also called me the Baitullah [House of Allah], which indicates that the more my opponents strive to demolish this House, the more treasures of divine knowledge and heavenly Signs will emerge from it. Accordingly, my experience is that with every persecution a new treasure is disclosed. One of the revelations in this context is:

[Persian] Someone kissed my foot and I told him: ‘I am the Black Stone.’ [Publishers] (See Tadhkirah)

[Arba‘in, no. 4, p. 19 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 452]

“”””I have received the book of Munshi Ilahi Bakhsh, accountant, entitled: ‘Asa‘-e-Musa, in which he has made personal attacks—based entirely on ill-thinking—on me and has also attacked some of my true and holy prophecies without due consideration. When I had looked through that
book and had put it aside, I received the revelation concerning Munshi Ilahi Bakhsh:

Translation: [Arabic] They desire to see menstruation blood in you. [That is, they are
seeking to discover impurity and filth and vileness] but God desires to exhibit His continuous favours unto you.(See also Al-Hakam, volume 4, number 44, December 10, 1900).

How can they find in me any matter resembling menstruation and what trace of it is left in me, for God has converted, through holy changes, that matter into a handsome boy; and that handsome boy has the status of a son in the estimation of Allah, meaning that although the limbs of a child are nourished and developed through menstruation blood, the child cannot be called impure like
menstruation. God has affirmed that I had developed from the state of impurity which is part of human nature into purity and that it is folly on the part of my opponents to seek impurity in me because I have become a pure child by the hand of Allah and like a son in His estimation.
God is my Guardian and Providence. There is, thus, the resemblance of a paternal relationship. God has put down the fire which has been sought to be kindled through this book ‘Asa-e-Musa. “”””(A) I do not believe that I would die before God Almighty has established my innocence…of the false charges that are levelled against me… In this context, I received a definite and certain revelation on Thursday, December 11, 1900:

[Urdu] After eleven, if the Almighty God so wills.

As for ‘after eleven, if the Almighty God so wills’ I do not know whether by eleven it is meant eleven days or eleven weeks or eleven months or eleven years. In any case, a Sign in proof of my innocence will appear within that period.””” (See Tadhkirah).

“”””Translation: [Arabic] Glad tidings for you, My Ahmad. You are My purpose and are with Me.
I have planted for you My tree with My own hand. Your secret is My secret and you have a
good standing in My presence. I have chosen you for Myself.

You are to Me like My Unity and My Uniqueness, so the time has arrived when you
should be helped and be known among the people. O Ahmad, grace—that is verities and
points of wisdom—flow from your lips. You have been blessed, O Ahmad, and the blessing
that Allah has bestowed upon you was deserved by you.

The Gracious One has taught you the Qur’an—that is, informed you the meanings of
the Qur’an that people had forgotten—so that you might warn a people whose ancestors
passed away unheeded and so that the guilty ones might be faced with a conclusive argument
from God. Tell them: I am not saying this on my own, but on the basis of revelation from
God and I am the foremost of the believers in this age. Tell them: If you love Allah, then come
and follow me, so that Allah may also love you. These people will plan and Allah will also plan
and Allah is the Best of planners.

Allah is not such as to leave you till He has distinguished between the pure and the impure.
My mercy covers you in the world and the hereafter. This day you are in a position of
honour with Us. You are of those who are helped. You have a standing with Me of which
the people have no knowledge. We have sent you in order to show mercy for the universe. O
Ahmad, enter Paradise along with your zauj. O Adam, enter Paradise along with your zauj.

This [zauj] means that everyone who associates with me, whether it is my wife or friend, will achieve salvation and will experience a heavenly life and will ultimately enter Paradise….

This station is by the Mercy of Allah, so that it may be a Sign for people. I determined to
establish a vicegerent on the earth and so I created this Adam. This Adam will establish
the law and revive the faith.

This is a Messenger of Allah in the mantles of the Prophets—with good standing in the world
and in the hereafter and one of those who have attained nearness to Allah.

I was a hidden treasure and I liked to be known. We shall make this servant of Ours a Sign for the people and a mercy from Us and this was a matter determined since eternity.

O ‘Isa [Jesus], I shall cause you to die a natural death, that is your opponents will not
succeed in killing you, and shall raise you towards Me, that is will establish with clear
arguments and manifest Signs that you are near to Me, and shall purify you from the
charges of the disbelievers and shall place those from among the Muslims who follow you above your opponents till the Day of Judgment. A company of your followers will be from among the first and a company from among the last. They seek to frighten you of their mischief, but Allah will safeguard you Himself from the mischief of the enemies even if the people do not safeguard you and your Lord is Powerful.

Allah praises you from His Throne—that is, in contrast to the abuses of the people, Allah
praises you. We praise you and send down blessings on you. We shall suffice you against
those who mock you. They say: ‘This is a lie which he has fabricated; we have heard
nothing like it from our ancestors.’ These ignorant ones do not realize that it is not hard
for Allah to grant this station to someone. We have honoured some people above others. This
status has been granted by the mercy of your Lord so that it should be a Sign for people. But
these people have rejected the Signs of God unjustly and arrogantly while their hearts
accept them.

Tell them: I have with me a special testimony from Allah; do you believe it not? Tell them
again: I have with me a special testimony from Allah; do you submit or not. When they see a
Sign, they say: ‘This is just an ordinary thing; it has happened so since eternity.’ [And if they
see a Sign, they turn away and say, ‘A passing feat of magic.’] …Allah has decreed since
eternity: I and My messengers will surely prevail—meaning that no matter how severe
the opposition, people raised by God would never be vanquished. Allah is Supreme over
His decree, but most people know it not. He it is Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, so that He might make it supreme over all religions. There is no
changing the words of Allah. Those who have believed and have not adulterated their faith
with any injustice are the ones who will be secure from every calamity and they are rightly

Do not supplicate Me in the matter of those who have committed wrong; they are a people
drowned. They treat you with mockery and say: ‘Is this the one whom Allah has raised
up?’ They look at you but do not see you. Keep in mind when the one who will declare you a
disbeliever will plan against you… and will call upon his elder Haman to light the fire of
persecution saying: ‘Initiate the edict of apostasy yourself because people have greater regard for you and you can incite them all with your edict. Therefore you be the first to put a stamp of approval, so that all ulema might be excited, and follow your stamp with their stamps. So that I should discover whether God is with this man or not though I consider him a liar.’ (Then he put the stamp.) Ruined is Abu Lahab and so are the two hands (one with which he held the edict and the other with which he put the stamp or wrote the edict). It did not behove him to intervene in this matter but in fear. Whatever pain will afflict you, it will be from Allah.

There will be a great trial after Haman puts a stamp on the edict of apostasy, then be steadfast as were steadfast the Prophets of high resolve…. This trial is from Allah, so that He might love you with a great love. It is an everlasting love that will never be cut off. Your recompense is with Allah. Your Lord will be pleased with you and will perfect your name. There are many things that you like for yourselves but they are not good for you. And there are many things that you desire not, but they are good for you. Allah knows and you know not.””””(See Tadhkirah).

“”””As Allah the Almighty knew that my opponents would wish for my early demise so that they might be able to proclaim that I had died early because I was false in my claims, He revealed to me aforetime:

That is [Arabic] Your age will be eighty years—a few years less or some years more; and you will live long enough to witness your distant progeny.

Thirty-five years or so have passed since this revelation was vouchsafed. (See Tadhkirah).

“””Meaning that [Arabic] All praise is due to Allah, who has made you Masih ibn-e-Maryam
[Messiah, son of Mary]. You are the revered Messiah whose time shall not be wasted. A
pearl like you is not wasted.

And then said:

Meaning that [Arabic] We shall bestow upon you a pleasant and comfortable life, eighty
years or thereabouts—meaning, a few years less or a few years more. You will witness
distant progeny. Manifestation of the True and the High, as if Allah had descended from

Then I received the revelation:

Meaning that [Arabic] The moon of the Prophets will come and your affair will be
achieved. You are not the one who would let go of Satan before you overcome him. It is your lot to be victorious and the defeat is destined for your enemies.

And then [Allah the Almighty] said:

Translation: [Arabic] I shall humiliate him who designs to humiliate you and will help him who helps you. Allah will not leave you till He has distinguished the pure from the impure. Holy is
Allah; you are His dignity, so how should He leave you. I am Allah, then devote yourself
wholly to Me and affirm: Lord I prefer you to everything.

And then the revelation came:

Meaning that [Arabic] The enemy will say: ‘You are not from God’. We shall seize him
from his snout, that is, will close all his avenues with conclusive arguments, and shall exact
retribution from the wrongdoers on the Day of Judgment. I shall come to you suddenly with
My hosts, that is, you do not have the knowledge of the hour when you will be helped. The day will come when the wrongdoer will bite his hands in remorse and will say: ‘Fie on me; I wish I had not opposed this Messenger of God and had stayed with him.’ They say: ‘This Jama‘at will soon disperse and their affair will be frustrated;’ whereas they have not been granted the knowledge of the unseen. We have sent you as an argument and Allah has all power to send an argument at its needed time.

Then the revelation came:

Translation: [Arabic] We sent Ahmad to his people, but people said: ‘He is a great liar.’ They started bearing false witness against him and fell upon him like the waters of a flood. He
said: My Friend is near but hidden.

My help will come to you. I am the Gracious One. You possess the capability and will receive plentiful rain. I shall send to you the groups from every people in large numbers. I have illumined your house. This is a revelation from Allah, the Mighty, the Merciful. If someone asks: ‘How would we know that this is revelation from God’, the evidence for them is that this revelation is accompanied by many Signs. Allah will never furnish the disbelievers with a cause to make a real charge against the believers.

You are the city of knowledge, pure and accepted of the Gracious One. You are My
High Name. Glad tidings for you in these days. You are from Me, O Ibrahim [Abraham]. You
are established on His attributes. You are the manifestation of the Ever-Living One. You are
the beginning of the desired affair from Me. You are from Our water and they are from cowardice.

Do they say: ‘We are a host able to take retribution. All of them will flee and they will turn their backs.’ All praise is due to Allah who has provided you with good relations through marriage and a good descent. Warn your people and tell them: I am a plain Warner from Allah. We have produced for you many harvests, O Ibrahim [Abraham]. They say: ‘We shall destroy you;’ but God said to His servant: There is nothing to fear; surely I and My Messengers shall prevail. I shall come to you soon with My hosts. I shall roll like the waves of the ocean. Allah’s grace is coming and there is no one who can obstruct it. Tell them: By my Lord! This is the truth which will not be
changed nor will remain hidden, and that will come down which will surprise you. This is revelation from the Lord, Maker of the high heavens. There is no God but He, He knows
and sees everything. Allah is with those who fear Him and perform virtuous acts nicely and
carry out good deeds beautifully. For them will the gates of heaven be opened and for them
there will be glad tidings in this life. You are being reared in the side of the Prophet and [you
dwell on the tops of mountains]{{The words in brackets were not translated by the Promised
Messiahas and are given by the Publishers. [Publishers]}}} I am with you in all circumstances.

And then the revelation continued:

Translation: [Arabic] They say: ‘This is imposture and this man is ruining the faith.’ Say: The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Say: Had this matter not been from Allah you would have found great contradiction in it, that is, you would not have found any supporting evidence for it from the Word of God.… God is He Who has sent His Messenger (that is my humble self) with guidance and the religion of truth and the reform of morals.

Tell them: If I have fabricated it, I shall bear the guilt of it, that is, I would perish. Who can
be guilty of greater wrong than one who fabricates lies against Allah? This is revelation
from Allah, the Mighty and the Merciful, so that you might warn a people whose ancestors
have not been warned and that you might invite other people to the acceptance of truth. It may
be that Allah will soon bring about friendship between you and those who are at enmity with
you and your Lord has power to do whatever He wills. They will fall down prostrate on their
faces, supplicating: ‘Lord, forgive us, we were in error.’ No blame will lie on you this day.
Allah will forgive you and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy. I am Allah,
then worship Me, [and do not forget Me] and keep striving to reach Me and keep supplicating your Lord and be diligent in supplication. Allah is a Friend and is Compassionate. He has taught the Qur’an; then what hadith will you follow instead of the Qur’an? We have sent down mercy upon this servant. He speaks not on his own; whatever you are hearing is revelation from God.

He approached God, that is ascended and then, leaned towards the people to convey the message of truth so that it became a case of one chord between two bows—God above and the creation below. Leave Me alone to deal with those who give you the lie. I shall stand with My Messenger. My day will be a day of great judgment. You are on the straight path. We may show you some of that which We have promised in their case or We may cause you to die and fulfill the promises afterwards. I shall raise you towards Me, that is your ascension towards God will be well established in the world and My help will come to you. I am the Lord, Whose Signs overpower the hearts and take them into their grip.(See Tadhkirah).

[Arba‘in, no. 3, pp. 37–38, Ruhani Khaza’in. vol. 17, pp. 427–429]

“””[Urdu] A title of honour; a title of honour.
[Arabic] [A title of honour for you].

[Urdu]There will be a great Sign with it….

God has determined to exalt your name and to illumine it greatly in the universe. I shall exhibit My flash and shall exalt you as a demonstration of My power. Many thrones have descended from heaven, but your throne has been set at the highest level. Angels helped you at the time of your meeting with your enemies. The British dealt kindly with you. God was on the side on which you were. Those who look to heaven suffer no grief whatsoever. This is not a good way. ‘Abdul-Karim, the leader of the Muslims, should be told not to pursue it.

[Arabic] [Be compassionate, be compassionate, for compassion is the principal virtue]. [Urdu] Be
compassionate, be compassionate, for compassion is the principal virtue….

[Urdu] God will set all your affairs right and will bestow on you all that you desire. The Lord of hosts will attend to it. Compared with Jesus of Nazareth, the blessings in this case are by no
means less. Threaten me not with fire, for fire is my servant and indeed the servant of my
servants. (See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in, no. 3, p. 38, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 429 and Appendix Tohfah Golarhviyyah, p. 25]

“””(A) …Maulavi ‘Abdul-Karim had spoken somewhat harshly to his wife. This caused the commandment that such harsh language should not be used. Normally a believer should be gentle and courteous towards everyone though on occasion a harsh expression might be
employed like a bitter medicine, but only in case of need and to the degree needed. Harshness should not become a habit.”””(See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in, no. 3, p. 38 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 428–429]

“””(B) This revelation contains guidance for the whole Jama‘at, that they should treat their wives with kindness and courtesy. Your wives are not your slaves. In point of fact, marriage is a covenant between man and woman. Therefore, strive not to be false to your covenant. God
Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an:

‘Lead a life of kindness and equity with your wives.’

And it is mentioned in a hadith:

‘The best among you is he who is best towards his wife.’

Therefore, be good to your wives both spiritually and physically. Keep praying for them and avoid divorce. A person who is hasty in divorce is sinful in the eyes of God. Do not hasten to break like a dirty vessel that which God has brought together.”””(See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in, no. 3, p. 38, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 429]

“””[Urdu] People came and made all sorts of claims. The lion of God seized them and the
lion of God was victorious.

Then it was revealed:

[Persian] [Step forth for your time has approached and the feet of the followers of
Muhammad have been firmly established on a high tower].

[Urdu] Holy Muhammadsa, the Chosen [Prophet of God], the Chief of the Prophets.
[Persian] [And My Signs have been illumined].
[Urdu] That will be a day greatly blessed. A Warner came into the world, but the
world did not accept him; but God will accept him and will make his truth manifest by powerful assaults. Amin.”””” (See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in, no. 3, p. 38 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 429 footnote]

“”””The meaning of the sentence ‘feet of the followers of Muhammad have been firmly established on a high tower’ is that the Promised Messiah of the latter days, about whom all the prophets had
prophesized, was born amongst the Muslims—even though the Jews and the Christians thought that he would be born amongst them. Hence the high tower of respect was given to the followers of Muhammad. The word [of Muhammad] has been used here to signify that those looking at only the apparent power and majesty of Islam – of which the word Muhammad is a manifestation—will now receive abundant Signs from the heavens. This is a requisite for the manifestation of Ahmad since the name Ahmadsa demands not only humility and submissiveness but also self-effacement of the highest degree—which is an essential requirement for expressing as well as deserving the true state of praise, devotion and deep love. The Signs of support go hand in hand with this true state of praise and love.””””(See Tadhkirah).
[Arba‘in, no. 3, p. 38 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, p. 429]

“””God Almighty revealed this sentence as a statement on my behalf.””(See Tadhkirah).

[Arba‘in, No. 4, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 433-434]

“””The Holy Qur’an repeatedly proclaims that God Almighty does not spare one who fabricates a lie against Allah. He punishes such a one in this very life and destroys him; Allah the Exalted refers to it in the verse:

{{{Ta Ha, 20: 62 [Publisher] That is, he who fabricates a lie shall perish.}}}

At another place it is said:

{{{Al-An‘am, 6:22 [Publisher] Who is guilty of greater wrong than one who fabricates a
lie against God or gives the lie to His signs?

It is thus clear that those who gave the lie to the word of God on the occasion of the advent of God’s Prophets were not spared by God and were destroyed by diverse types of torments. Observe what was the end of the people of Noah and of ‘Ad and Thamud and the people
of Lot and of Pharaoh and the Meccan enemies of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

Thus when those who rejected the truth were chastised in this world, how can he escape who fabricates a lie against Allah and who is mentioned in the first place in the verse just cited. Would God treat the righteous and the false alike and is there no punishment in this life from
God Almighty for impostors?

{{{{‘What is the matter with you? How judge ye!’—Al-Qalam, 68:37 [Publisher]}}}}

At another place God Almighty has said:

{{{Al-Mu’min, 40:29 [Publisher] If this Prophet is an impostor, he will perish because of
his imposture, but if he is truthful, then it is a must that you too will taste some punishment, because the transgressors, whether they are guilty of imposture or rejection, shall receive no help from Allah.

What could be more explicit than the fact that in the Holy Qur’an God Almighty warns again and again that an impostor is bound to perish in this very world.”””” (See Essense of Islam, Vol. 2).

The article is dated December 1900. In this he censures his critics and claims that he has Divine support etc. Toward the end of the article is the following:

“””If I have received from you the payment for the price of Baraaheen-e-Ahmadiyya then I invoke the oath of God Almighty upon you, in Whose presence you will be made to appear, that [you should] return all those four parts of Baraaheen-e-Ahmadiyya to my custody and take your money back. Look, I make this open announcement that after this if you demand the price [refund] of Baraaheen-e-Ahmadiyya and, having shown [those parts] to some friend of mine, send [return] all four parts to me, as value payable, and if I, after receiving the four parts, do not pay their price, then [may] the curse of God [be] upon me. … And prior to this I have published three announcements, regarding the price [refund] of Baraaheen, which had the same content that I am prepared to return the price. [These people] should return all the four parts of my book and receive from me the few paltry coins that they are dying for. … [Dated] December 15, 1900 AD [RK, v 17, pp. 457-458; starts at last line of p. 457, above the marginal note; Arba`een Number 4].”””
[Arba‘in No.4, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 471-473]

“””Purely by way of advice, and for the sake of Allah, I tell the opposing clerics and their soul mates, that abuse and vilification is not the way of decency. If this be your disposition, then so be it. But if you consider me false in my claim, you also have the option to come together in your mosques and pray to God for my ruin, or you can do the same individually. If I am false in my claim, your prayers are bound to be heard. Indeed, you have been praying against me already. But remember, even if you continue to pray thus until your tongues are bruised, and you go on bewailing in your prostrations until your noses are rubbed out, and your tears wipe out your eyelashes, and the weeping reduces your vision, and your brains are so affected that you begin to suffer from epilepsy or melancholia, still your prayers will not be heard; for I have
come from God, and anyone who curses me will himself be afflicted with such a curse, though he may not be aware of it. He who enters into a prayer duel with me and supplicates that the one among us who is false may die in the lifetime of the other, will come to the same end
which overtook Ghulam Dastgir of Qasur….

No one can die on earth unless his death is decreed in heaven. My soul is inspired with the same truth with which the soul of Abrahamas was inspired. I have a relationship with God like that of Abrahamas. My secret is known to God alone. My opponents ruin themselves in vain. I am not the plant that can be uprooted by their hands. If their predecessors and their successors, and their living and their dead, were all to come together and pray for my ruin, my God would convert their prayers into curses and would fling them back upon them. Do you not see that hundreds of wise people from among you continue to join my Jama‘at? There is uproar in heaven and God’s angels are pulling pure hearts in our direction. Can man obstruct this Movement that is proceeding in heaven? Try to obstruct it if you think you have the strength. Use all the cunning and deceit that the opponents of the Prophets employed against them in the past, and leave nothing untried. Use your utmost strength. Call down ruin till you arrive at the door of death. Then see what harm you can bring upon us. Heavenly signs are descending like rain, but the unfortunate ones continue to raise objections from afar. What remedy can we provide to the hearts which have been sealed.
Lord have mercy on this Ummah, Amin.

[Arba‘in No. 4, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 17, pp. 479-484]

“”””The readers of this announcement will be aware that, having observed the persistent condemnation and vilification of opposing clerics and custodians of shrines, and having noted their demand for a sign, I had made an announcement that was addressed especially to Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib. The sum and substance of that announcement was that there have so far been many discussions on religious issues from which the opposing Maulavis have derived no benefit, but as they continue to ask for heavenly signs, it is possible that they might derive some benefit from them. It was published because Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib, who claims excellence of sainthood, as well as a high intellectual calibre and, on account of his confidence in his learning, has recently renewed his condemnation of me as a disbeliever, and has published a book in order to provoke the common people against me…. And since God Almighty has honoured me with the revelation:

‘The Almighty Allah has taught thee the Holy Qur’an’;

I had, therefore, suggested that it would be enough of a sign for testing my truth or falsehood if Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib and I both were to write a commentary in clear and eloquent Arabic on some Chapters of the Holy Qur’an. If he is judged better than me, I shall have no hesitation in acknowledging his superiority. With this in view, my announcement was made entirely in good faith … but he has completely evaded my challenge.…

Today, God Almighty has put a plan in my mind which I set forth to conclusively resolve this matter, and I believe that it will fully expose Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib, for the whole world is not blind; there are some who are fair and just. The plan is that today I give the following answer to the constant barrage of announcements, which are being published in favour of Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib. If Pir Mehr ‘Ali Shah Sahib is truly exceptional in his knowledge of the Qur’an and Arabic literature, and is well versed in the arts of persuasion and eloquence, I believe he must still be in possession of those qualities since it is not long since he moved to Lahore. I propose here and now to establish the truth by writing a commentary on Surah Al-Fatihah and setting down the verities and truths of this chapter of the Holy Qur’an. As for Hadrat Pir Sahib, he should also base his evidence regarding the Promised Messiah and the bloodthirsty Mahdi on Surah Al- Fatihah. He is at liberty to deduce his conclusive arguments
and crucial verities from Surah Al-Fatihah, written in eloquent and brilliant Arabic. The two books should be printed and published within seventy days beginning from the fifteenth of December, 1900. This will allow knowledgeable people to compare and decide for themselves.
If three scholars, who possess literary qualities and are proficient in Arabic and have no connection with either of us, state on oath that Pir Sahib’s book is superior to mine, both in composition and in setting forth the verities of the Holy Qur’an, I shall immediately pay five
hundred rupees to Pir Sahib…. He will be at liberty to seek help in this enterprise from Maulavi Muhammad Hussain of Batala, Maulavi ‘Abdul Jabbar of Ghazni and Muhammad Hassan of Bhin. He is even free to employ three or four Arab scholars who posses literary qualifications for this purpose. These commentaries should not be less than four juz each…. If any of us fails to publish such a commentary within the appointed term—between 15 December 1900 and 25 February 1901—he will be considered false in his claim, and no further proof of his falsehood will be necessary. Peace be upon those who follow the guidance.

Chaudhry Mohammad Hussain was the father of the famous Dr. Abdus Salam (See the Al-Nahl magazine of 1997). He was born on 9-3-1891 at Jhang. He had a total of 9 children. Most of this data is taken from an essay from his son, Chaudhry Abdul Hamid, which was published in the Al-Nahl of 1997.

At age 24, he enrolled himself at the Islamia College in Lahore in pursuit of a BA. However, he failed-out of this school soon thereafter. It is unknown how he paid for his classes and housing.

Per Ahmadiyya sources, he joined Ahmadiyya just 14 days before the death of Maulvi Noorudin (the Khalifa at the time). This would be roughly February 28th, of 1914. He joined Ahmadiyya on a whim, he didn’t properly study it, Ahmadiyya sources claim that he saw a dream. At this time, he was already engaged to his first cousin from his maternal uncle (mother’s brother). This uncle was a solid Sunni-Muslim and publicly opposed Ahmadiyya. Ahmadiyya sources speak of his death in mockery, as they do with all of the opponents of Ahmadiyya, they are happy when we die and publicize those details, they do this in spite, since we archived the fact that MGA died of excessive diarrhea, which is a major sign of cholera.

Ahmadiyya sources tell us that immediately after becoming an Ahmadi, he mysteriously got a job with the British Government as a temporary teacher at Government High School in Jhang.

He married Saeeda Begum. She died while in child birth on 4-20-1922, their daughter was nevertheless born and named Masooda Begum.

On May, 11th, he married again, his eldest daughter was roughly 2 years old at the time. He married Hajira Begum, she was the daughter of a companion of MGA, Hafiz Nabi Baksh. There are 3 Nabi Baksh’s that are mentioned in “The Life of Ahmad” by Dard. Ahmadiyya sources tell us that Hafiz Nabi Baksh had came into contact with MGA 10 years before his claims, which makes it roughly 1880-1881. He was a toilet attendant of MGA’s, just like Shaikh Hamid Ali. Ahmadiyya sources tell us that he spent many nights with MGA in the Baitul Fikr at Qadian. Only 3 people were allowed to sleep in the Baitul Fikr in those days, those three were MGA, Shaikh Hafiz Hamid Ali and Hafiz Nabi Baksh.

Dr. Abdus Salam is born.

He orders his entire household to serve Abdus Salam like a king.

He seems to have bought some farm land and thus qualified as a farmer, he then has his son, Abdus Salam apply for a scholarship at Cambridge, and it works, Salam gets the money for college.

He moves to Pakistan with the bulk of the Ahmadi’s in the Punjab. He seems to have settled in Multan, Pakistan, or he was already there before the partition and thus didn’t have to move. He became President of a local Ahmadiyya Jamaat.

He retires from Government service and moves back to Jhang, Pakistan.

1959, April
He moves to England to live with his eldest son, Dr. Abdus Salam.

At age 79, he serves the Jamaat of London, he was the secretary of Taleem and Tarbiyyat.

In December, he abruptly decides to leave England and moves back to Pakistan. On the way to Pakistan, he stops at Mecca and performs Umrah with his son and many members of his family.

He lives all over the country at his 6 son’s homes. Some lived in Sheikhapura, Multan and Karachi. It is unclear what jobs his sons did.

He dies on 4-7-1969 in Karachi. His body was transported to Qadian and buried in a special tract area of Bahishti Maqbara, it is called, “Qit’a-i-Mobashshshireen”, for which the Khalifa (Mirza Nasir Ahmad) has granted special permission in recognition of his services to Ahmadiyya.

TUHFA-E-GOLARHVIYYAH by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1902)

Per Ahmadiyya sources, MGA and his team began writing this book in 1900, as his beef with Pir Mehr Ali Shah ended. Per Muhammad Ali in 1915, this book was published on September 1, 1902. This book was in Urdu with some brief Arabic, it ran for 254 pages and was published from the Diya’ul-Islam Press, Qadian, the original edition had barely 40 words per page, this was how they extended the number of pages in those days. In english the title translates as ‘Gift for Golarvi”. Also spelled as Golarviah and Tohfa Golarviak. In this book, MGA asserts that the Messiah was supposed to come exactly 1400 years after Muhammad (saw), he even quotes Nawab Siddiq Hassan Khan’s famous book and his assertions that the Mahdi was coming soon. There is also an appendix, we aren’t sure when this appendix was added. Tohfa-e-Golarwiyah comprises of RK, v. 17, pages 35-340, which includes the Appendix/Supplement on pages 35-86, pages 87-340 are the main book. This book starts with an appendix, which is weird. In the main body of the book Mirza Ghulam Ahmad argues, based on the Quraan and Hadeeth, that Jesus has died and that the Promised Messiah was to appear from among the Muslims. In the appendix he argues that he is the Promised Messiah. MGA also gives his GOD a new name in this book, the famous Yalesh. Tofha Golarviyya is in RK-17, as the second book.

NURUL-HAQQ (Part-2) quotes and background data

Nurul-Haqq was a 2-part booklet written by MGA and his team of writers in 1894.  This book is in Arabic only, however, the original also contained an Urdu translation.  This book has never been translated into english (see Hidden Treasures).  On May 18, 1894, Noor-ul-Haq Part-2 was published (see Mujadid e Azim, abridged english edition, page 507).  In Part-1, MGA and his team never even mentioned any hadith about eclipses and etc, in fact, in 15 years as a writer, MGA had never connected the famous prophecy of the Mahdi with any hadith about eclipses.  However, in 1907, in Haqiqatul Wahy, MGA claimed to have predicted the eclipses in Nurul-Haqq Part-1, pages 35-38.  This is the same book wherein MGA’s team wrote Lanaat 1000 times.

“””(B) When I had decided to compile this book [Nurul-Haqq], I received a revelation from the Lord of lords that the disbelievers and those who have declared me a disbeliever would not have the power to compile a book like it in its arrangement of prose and its poems, and containing the insights and wisdom set forth in it. Therefore, he who desires to controvert my revelation should produce the like of what I have set forth; for the Mahdi is guided towards
matters to which no one else is guided. His opponent will not be able to get anywhere near him, even though he were to fly through the atmosphere.”””
[Nurul-Haqq, part 2, Title Page, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, p. 187](See the 2009 edition of Tadhkirah).
“””… I behold that the people of Mecca will enter in large numbers in the party of Allah, the Powerful, the Absolute.  This is the doing of the Lord of the heavens and is strange in the eyes of the earthly people.””””[Nurul-Haqq, part 2, p. 10, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, p. 197](See the 2009 edition of Tadhkirah).
“””The correct interpretation and the true and correct meaning [of the hadith] is that ‘the moon would be eclipsed on the first night in the month of Ramadan’ means that it will be eclipsed on the first of the three nights in which it is full, as you well-know the expression ayyam-e-bid [white days]…. Also, the meaning of his words that ‘the sun would be eclipsed on the middle [day]’ is that the solar eclipse would occur in a manner that it would split in the middle the days on which an eclipse takes place.… I have not said this on my own; rather, it is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.””” (Nurul-Haqq, part 2, pp. 13, 15, 19, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, pp. 201, 204, 210)(See also Hidden Treasures).
“”””Know then that Allah has breathed into my heart that the eclipses of the moon and of the sun that have occurred during Ramadan are two awe-striking Signs which have been exhibited to warn those who follow Satan and have adopted the ways of injustice and transgression… If they persist in their denial, the time of the chastisement is near.””””
[Nurul-Haqq, part 2, p. 35, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, pp. 227–228](See the 2009 edition of Tadhkirah).
“”””My Lord revealed to me that I should perfect the divine challenge against them (the Christians) and should expose to mankind the ignorance of the disobedient ones. That is why I have compiled this booklet [Nurul-Haqq].””” [Nurul-Haqq, part 2, p. 61, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, p. 259](See the 2009 edition of Tadhkirah).

“”””(C) It has been revealed to me by my Lord that they are all like the blind and will not be able to produce the like of it and that they are false in their claims.”””[Nurul-Haqq, part 2, p. 62, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 8, p. 260](See the 2009 edition of Tadhkirah).

“””O servants of God, ponder and think. Do you consider it permissible that the Mahdi should be born in the countries of Arabia and Syria and his Sign should be manifested in our country; and you know that the wisdom of God does not separate the sign from the person for whom the sign is meant. Then how could it be possible that the Mahdi should be in the East but his sign should be in the West. And this should be sufficient for you if you are really seekers after truth.””” (Noorul Haq, Part-II)(Retrieved from, on 6-25-19)(See also Review of Religions, May-June, 1999).
“”””I desire to make it clear to the readers that my faith in Hazrat Masih, peace be on him, is a very good faith. I believe sincerely that he was a true prophet of God and was loved by Him and I believe that, as indicated by the Holy Quran, he had, as a means of his salvation, perfect faith in our lord and master, Muhammad Mustafa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He was one of the sincere servants of the law of Moses. I respect him according to his station. But the Jesus who is presented by the Christians, who claimed to be God and condemned everyone else except himself, both those who had gone before and who were to come after, as accursed, as having been guilty of vices the recompense of which is a curse, is regarded by us as deprived of Divine mercy. The Holy Quran makes no reference to this impertinent and foul-mouthed Jesus. We are surprised at the conduct of one who considered that God was subject to death and himself claimed to be God and who reviled such righteous ones as were thousand times better than him. In our writings we have had this fictitious Jesus of the Christians in mind. The humble servant of God, Isa, son of Mary, who was a Prophet and is mentioned in the Holy Quran, is not the object of our harsh condemnations. We have had to adopt this method after having endured for forty years the abuse of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessing of Allah be upon him, by the Christian missionaries.”””(Nurul Quran, No.2)(See Truth about Ahmadiyyat by
B. A. Rafiq, online version,, Retrieved on 6-25-19).

“”””I declare it with regret that we have had to issue this number of the Nurul Quran in answer to a person who, instead of adopting a civil method, has had recourse to vile abuse of our lord and master the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and out of his vileness he has uttered such calumnies against that Leader of the pure and Chief of the righteous, that the heart of a pious one trembles at hearing them. This reply is a refutation of the utterers of such abuse. We wish to declare that our belief concerning the Messiah, peace be upon him, is a very good belief and that we have sincere faith in that he Was a true Prophet of God and was loved by Him.”””” (NuruI Quran, No.2)(See Truth about Ahmadiyyat by
B. A. Rafiq, online version,, Retrieved on 6-25-19).

“””Padre Fateh Masih of Fateh Garh, District Gurdaspur, has addressed a vile letter to me in which he has charged our lord and master Muhammad Mustafa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, with adultery and has, besides this, uttered vile abuse of him. I have, therefore, considered it necessary to reply to it and hence this booklet. I trust the Christian padres will study it carefully and will not be aggrieved at its language as the tone that has been adopted in it is in consequence of the harsh language and vile abuse employed by Mian Fateh Masih, Yet, it is necessary to uphold the holy station of the true Messiah, peace be on him. In reply to the harsh language of Fateh Masih, a fictitious Jesus has been portrayed and that also under great compulsion for this foolish one has abused the Holy Prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in a vile manner and has wounded our hearts.””” (Nurul Quran, No.2)(See Truth about Ahmadiyyat by B. A. Rafiq, online version,, Retrieved on 6-25-19).

(roohani khazyian – 9- / page 420-/ Noor Ul Quran 2

Summary of this quote:
MGA is talking about “wudhu” (ablution) in the start and the philosophy that either sins can be forgiven by “wudhu” or not.  While talking about “wudhu” he forgets to mention the forehead, while he mentions that “wudhu” is only cleaning of face, feet and hands. The cleaning (massah) of forehead is a obligatory part which MGA didn’t mentioned . He specifically used the word “only”. In urdu, it would be “SIRF”.
