What is “Hamamatul Bushra” (1893-1894) by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad?

Intro
“Hamamatul Bushra” (The Harbinger of Good News)(1893-1894) is an Arabic-only book by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his team of writers. On the title page of the book, MGA wrote two couplets which say: “Our dove flies with the wings of fondness and in its beak are the presents of peace – and it flies to the land of the Prophet who is our beloved lord, Chief of the Messengers and the best of creation”. MGA even said that this book holds some of the spiritual secrets of the Holy Quran.

Ahmadiyya sources claim that this book was written in 1893. Ahmadiyya sources allege that an Arab, Muhammad bin Ahmad Makki of Shi‘b-e-‘Amir, Mecca, came on a sight-seeing tour of India in 1893. On his arrival in Qadian, he remained in the company of MGA and then became an Ahmadi (see Hidden Treasures). However, this is all unverified information. What’s really interesting about this book is that MGA says that the Queen is a Muslim in her heart and thus the Muslims of India should be fully co-operating with her. In this book, MGA seems to have argued that the Miraaj was physical, which is odd because 3 years earlier, in Izala Auham, MGA denied the physicality of the Miraaj. Read about the history of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Saudi Arabia herein.

In response to Muslims saying that he didn’t fulfill the prophecies about the 2nd coming of ’Isa ﷺ, MGA argued that these prophecies will be fulfilled gradually, and cited a weak narration stating that ’Isa ﷺ will spend 19 years without having any governmental authority. In that same narration it is stated that this will be after he kills The Dajjal and returns to Jerusalem, that he will marry from(Judham)the people of Shu’aybﷺ and Musa’sﷺ in-laws. It’s also narrated with a different wording “There will not be any governmental authority” (See page 30, Arabic edition, see scan in the below).

In Hamamatul Bushra, (1894, Arabic edition page 49, page 192, Urdu edition RK-7), MGA and his team made a mockery out of Muhammad (Saw) swearing on oath that Eisa (as) would physically return, MGA quoted the hadith about everyone dying in 100 years from Muhammad (saw), from this, it becomes wajib for everyone to accept that the Dajjal will die in 100 years, or some silly argument.

In 1894, MGA and his team of writers, in an Arabic book, argued that prophets getting killed does not disprove their claim and nor is it disrespectful. There are many prophets who were killed in their mission, Yahya (as) and his father (Zacharia [as]) are examples of this (See Bro Imtiaz, 1:32:50 time stamp)(RK-7, p. 200, Hamamatul-Bushra).

In 1903, a 2nd edition of Hamamatul Bushra was published (see Maulvi Muhammad Ali, “Prophethood in Islam” [1915], supplement).

The ROR of Sep-1917 reports that MGA allegedly predicted the plague in Hamamatul Bushra. This book was published in 1894. MGA mentioned how Hazrat Umar (ra) was a Muhaddith. 43:61 (43:62 in the Qadiani Quran) is also discussed in this book.

In 1933, the Ahmadiyya Khalifa said that women should not work

Intro
Mirza Basheer-uddin Mahmud Ahmad is said to be worse than MGA when it came to women/men and his sexual desires, in fact, the Lahori-Ahmadi’s have commented on this topic extensively. Nevertheless, in 1924, the Khalifa’s second wife (Amtul Hai) had died mysteriously. The Khalifa had just came back from his tour to England, it is said that this wife of the Khalifa had been writing letters to newspapers and telling them how bad her husband really is. She (Amtul Hai) seems to have lived with the Khalifa’s first wife and mother in MGA’s home in Qadian (as well as wife #3). This 14-15 year old girl, Sara Begum (the Khalifa’s wife #4) seems to have also met Amtul Hai (the Khalifa’s wife #2) in 1923, in the Khalifa’s house, the Khalifa heard her speaking about how she read the Ahmadiyya newspapers and etc. Sara Begum’s father was Abdul Majid Bhagalpuri (Central India). Sara Begum would become the Khalifa’s 4th wife. Abdul Majid Bhagalpuri is totally unknown in Ahmadiyya history, he seems to have been a professor in Arabic somewhere in Baghalpur, the Khalifa was in Baghalpur for a Jalsa in 1923, which led to the engagement.  In urdu, the Khalifa describes his marriage to this “bachee”, which means female child. The quote in the below is from Anwarul Aloom on 23 June 1933.  “meri sarah” was also published in 27 June 1933, just 4 days later. His wife died on 27 june 1933 as quoted in  Al-Fazl.  Al-fazal of 16 May 1933, “Date and time of death: Sarah Begum Sahiba died on Saturday, 13 May 1933 at 1.45 pm. Sarah had went into labor on the same day 13 May 1933, a girl was born, and after about 2 and half hour, she died of heart failure, (her heart stopped) in them days real cause of death was not ascertained. In any case she died.  Anwarul Aloom vol 13 page 94, 95 and 96, that is where he says “purpose of writing this article” that women should stay at home and serve the man, and not go out to work.

“Purani Tahrirein” or “Older Writings” of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1879–1880)

Intro
Per Ahmadiyya sources (see Hidden Treasures) “Purani Tahrirein” or “Older Writings” were published in 1899 at the Anwar-e- Ahmadiyyah, press at Qadian. They claim that these were MGA’s writings from the 1879–1880 era. It is the collection of a number of articles, which appeared in 1879, in the Manshur-e-Muhammadi of Bangalore, Safir-e-Hind of Amritsar, Brother Hind and Hindu Bandu of Lahore. It is also spelled as Purani Tehrirain. This booklet is barely 40 pages.

This book was translated into english and presented in the ROR of Jan-1914, it is signed off by TIMUR and from the M.A.O. College at Aligarh.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and 2:106, the quranic verse of abrogation

Intro
2:106 (2:107 in the Qadiani Quran and 16:101 (16:02 in the Qadiani Quran) are the two “verses of abrogation” contained in the Quran. — Qur’an 2:106, When We substitute one revelation for (another) revelation, – and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),– they say, “Thou art but a forger”: but most of them understand not. Chapter 16 was revealed before Hijra and Chapter 2 right after Hijra. Check out my essay on MGA and how he supported abrogation.

In Sep-2025 (3:39:55), Bro Imtiaz explained how MGA alleged that Allah “Manuskhed” the “Jalalee-Color” (referring to Jihad with the sword) and wanted to show the “Jamalee-Color” (just preaching and etc, no conflict) of Jihad. MGA argued that the name Ahmad is the manifestation of Jamal, and—in contrast to this—the name Muhammad (saw) is the manifestation of Jalal (See pages 151-152). MGA then claims that Ismuhu Ahmad is via “Jamalee-Color” (just preaching and etc, no conflict) and this is MGA.

In 1903, (Al-Badr, Volume 2, number 7, number 6/3/1903, p. 50), MGA alleged that he forgets his wahi and gets new wahi, and he quoted 2:106.

Many quotes are given from 1904 to 1907 in the below.

It seems that towards the end of MGA’s life (May-1908), MGA was arguing that his famous doomsday Earthquake prophecy had been averted via 2:106, and further, MGA’s God issues an order in the morning and has the full authority to change it at night (Via Malfuzat-10, online English edition, page 473).

After MGA died, his son, the 2nd Qadiani-Khalifa abrogated (See Haqiqatun Nubuwwat, 1915) all of the writings by MGA on prophethood before 1901.

Thanks to Hani Tahir, we have obtained some interesting references which link MGA to the concept of abrogation. At a minimum…MGA would forget his own revelations…and he would say that he would get “new ones” in their place.
