Intro
Several weeks after Mirza Ghulam Ahmad died (May-26-1908), his team of writers published a book called “Pagham-e-Sulh” (Message of Peace) and alleged that MGA wrote it before he died. We have posted what seems to be the 1st English edition, wherein the preface is written by Khwaja Kamaluddin (secretary of the Sadr Anjuman) and signed off with the date of July-31-1908, which means the book was published around that date. This book was published by the authority of Sadr Anjuman (headquartered at Qadian), and via the printing press of M. Baksey and sons at the Artistic Printing Works in Lahore. Khwaja Kamaluddin (secretary of the Sadr Anjuman) wrote the preface from Ahmadiyya Buildings, Azeez Manzil, Lahore.
On page-1 of the book, it is alleged that this was a paper that was supposed to be read in Lahore on May-31-1908. The footnote alleges that this was read out, however, on June-21-1908, at the University Hall in Lahore, allegedly in front of 5000 men, Hindu and Muslim and with Mr. Justice P.C. Chatterjee in the chair. Qadiani-Ahmadi sources allege that in 1968, a new English translation was published from Pakistan. In 1996, another new English edition was published from the UK. The current online English edition is from 2007.
In terms of Urdu, we have posted the oldest editions of Sep-1908 in the below, in this edition, it is alleged that the first ever Urdu edition was published in June-1908 (however, this one has never been found). “Pagham-e-Sulh” (Message of Peace) also seems to have been titled as “Krishan Avatar”.
In this book, MGA calls Krishna a prophet (See page 13), Baba Nanak (10+ times) is also mentioned. Dayanand is also mentioned (see page 34), as well as Reverend Pfander (see page 34). The Arya Samaj hindu minority is mentioned as well as the practice of niyog (spelled as nyog)(see page 24). MGA also alleges that he has never berated/abused the prophets of other religions. The Buddha is mentioned 4 times.
Some of the Quranic verses in this book are 42:40 (42:41 in the Kadiani Koran), 7:158 (7:159 in the Kadiani Koran), 2:256 (2:257 in the Kadiani Koran), 30:41 (30:42 in the Kadiani Koran), 6:108 (6:108 in the Kadiani Koran), 3:84 (3:85 in the Kadiani Koran), 41:37 (41:38 in the Kadiani Koran), 35:24 (35:25 in the Kadiani Koran), 1:1 (1:2 in the Kadiani Koran).
In 1913, the Ahmadi’s of Lahore created the “Pagham-e-Sulh” magazine, via the approval of Maulvi Noorudin (who was the sitting Khalifa). This magazine was named after MGA’s book with the same name. In late 1913, the “Pagham-e-Sulh” magazine began attacking the Khilafat at Qadian. By 1914, it was full blown Lahori-Ahmadi and remained as such, even until this day.
