Intro
In 2026 (May-7), Musleh Shanboor streamed with other Ahmadiyya mullahs on the “Ask Islam” youtube channel. At 21:51 timestamp, Musleh Shanboor explains how 22:39-40 of the Quran (22:40-42 in the Kadiani Koran) doesn’t apply in MGA’s time and up until 2026. Musleh Shanboor means to say that the conditions to “take-up-arms” against a government haven’t been fulfilled. At 24:57, Musleh Shanboor says that Mirza Masroor Ahmad has allowed Ahmadi’s to call the plight of Muslims in this era (2015 to 2026) as Jihad. Musleh Shanboor called what Muslims are defending in Gaza as a “sort of Jihad“, however, it is not religious (See the clip on TikTok and Twitter). Musleh Shanboor then alleges that 100,000+ Muslims have converted to Christanity in India-Pakistan, however, this is a lie, most of the converts came from the choora caste of people, this is totally proven.

However, Musleh Shanboor forgets that MGA abrogated (mansukh) 22:39-40 of the Quran (22:40-41 in the Kadiani Koran) in his book, “The British government and Jihad” and had it published on May 22, 1900. MGA and his team of writers argued that this commandment (22:39) was specific to the period and time. It was not forever. It applied during the time when those entering the fold of Islam were being slaughtered like sheep and lambs (See pages 6-7). Musleh Shanboor also failed to mention that on page 17, MGA said he came with an order “jihad with the sword has ended from this time forward”. This statement and the context tell us that MGA was alleging that the violent Jihad which is found in 22:39 of the Quran (22:41 in the Kadiani Koran) was stopped on May-22-1900.

Musleh Shanboor also didn’t take into consideration how a few months later (Dec-15), MGA said, that in the time of “Maseeh Mau`ood” the command for jihaad was entirely abolished/stopped (see Nuzhat Haneef, page 171)(RK, v. 17, p. 443; marginal note; Arba`een Number 4)(See page 145, online English edition of Arba‘in).

In 1900-1902, Regarding Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s abolishment of martial jihaad, MGA wrote a poem entitled “The Fatwaa of the Prohibition of Religious Jihaad from Maseeh Mau`ood” (deenee jihaad kee mumaanay`at kaa fatwaa maseeh mau`ood kee tarf say)[RK, v. 17, p. 77; Appendix of Tohfa-e-Goldrawiyah](Via Nuzhat Haneef).

Musleh Shanboor also didn’t mention how MGA argued in 1901-1902, that from this day, the human jihaad that was performed with the sword [i.e., martial jihaad], has been stopped by the command of God. Now after this whoever lifts a sword against a kaafir and refers to himself as a ‘ghaazee’ [a jihaad participant who is not martyred], he disobeys that Noble Messenger, the blessings of Allaah and peace be on him, who stated thirteen hundred years ago that upon the coming of the Maseeh Mau`ood the jihaads of the sword will come to an end. So now after my appearance there is no jihaad of the sword. … The one who fights evil with evil is not from among us. Save yourself from attack by the mischievous. But do not yourselves engage in mischievous confrontation.” (See RK, v. 16, pp. 28-29; starts at 5th line from bottom of p. 28; Appendix to Khutbah-e-Ilhaamiyyah, translation by Nuzhat Haneef).

Musleh Shanboor didn’t mention how in 1906, MGA and his team of writers alleged that God had not forbidden the kind of Jihad wherein there is a battle of swords or guns. (See “Fountain of Christianity” (Chashma-e-Masihi), online English edition page 4). MGA said that the type of Jihad wherein swords and guns are used in battle is the final battle between light and darkness. MGA says that the type of Jihad wherein swords and guns are used in battle was destined to be abolished in the time of the Promised Messiah (maseeh-e-maud) as referred to the by the Holy Quran and Sahih Bukhari.

Musleh Shanboor also didn’t mention how in 1906, MGA and his team alleged that the famous hadith which talk about the breath of the Messiah killing people (See Sahih Muslim 2937a) is really about the plague and Earthquakes which will happen as a result of the rejection/abuse/denial of MGA as the Messiah (See Divine Manifestations [Tajalliyat-e-illahiyyah], page 9, online English Edition)(published in 1922). On page 9 of the Online English Edition, the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s purposely mistranslated “abrogated” (mansookh) as “suspended”, thus proving that MGA did indeed “abrogate” Jihad, however, Ahmadi’s (Lahori and Qadiani) both agreed against MGA and landed on the idea that MGA only “suspended” Jihad in the 1900-1908 era.

In 2025, Mirza Masroor Ahmad is saying that in the future, it is possible that Ahmadi’s may have to fight a physical Jihad (see the clip on TikTok and twitter).

In 1894, MGA and his team of writers argued that Allah commanded His persecuted Messenger in this verse (22:39, 22:40 in the Kadiani Koran) to take up arms against those who first initiated the violence, but only after He witnessed their extreme attacks, complete hatred, and utter misguidedness (see page 89, Nurul Haq, online English edition). He further saw that these were a people who could not be expected to reform their condition through religious exhortation. Consider, then, the manner in which the Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, conducted war. The Prophet of Allah did not fight the enemies of Islam until after he witnessed them initiate the loosing of arrows and wielding of swords—and it was not just the disbelievers who were killed but there were casualties on both sides—and the disbelievers were oppressors and aggressors.

These people were given permission because they were wronged. Allah has the power to help those who are oppressed. These were the persecuted who had been unjustly driven out of their homelands.
Their only crime was that they proclaimed: ‘Allah is our Lord. This is the verse which lays the foundation for the wars in Islam.

In 1902, MGA and his team of writers quoted 22:39 of the Quran (22:40 in the Kadiani Koran) and alleged that the battles which took place in the time of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, were not to propagate religion by force. Instead, they were in the nature of retribution, that is to say, they served as a penalty against those who had murdered a large party of Muslims and who had forced others from their homes and committed immensely grave injustices against them (See “Kishti-e-Nuh, online English edition, page 118). That is, permission to fight is given to those Muslims who are being subjected to war by the disbelievers, because they have been wronged, and God has the power to help them. Then, there were defensive wars, which were fought to preserve freedom of choice or to establish liberty in the land against those who aggressed to destroy Islam or forcefully suppress its propagation. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and
his blessed Caliphs never waged war except in these three cases. In fact, the Muslims tolerated the injustices of other peoples to such a degree that no similar example can be found among other nations.

In 1905 (Nov-17), MGA and his team of writers argued that 22:39 (22:40 in the Kadiani Koran) only meant that those who have been wronged are permitted to fight. The Muslims were the oppressed; they were not the instigators. On the contrary, the disbelievers of Makkah were the aggressors. Even in this situation, it was only when their transgressions reached the point of extremity that Allah the Exalted gave him the command to fight back in self-defence. Therefore, the criticism that those battles were for religious reasons is simply frivolous and futile. Had they been undertaken only for the sake of [spreading the] religion, why would they have been abandoned in cases where jizyah [tax on non-Muslim citizens] was given?

In 1908 (June-18), after MGA died, a writ was published in the Al-Hakam wherein MGA’s team of writers quoted 22:39 of the Quran (22:40 in the Kadiani Koran) and alleged that God Almighty gave Muslims the permission to raise the sword. In this permission, God made it clear that the disbelievers were, indeed, tyrants and their mischief had exceeded all bounds, and the patience of the Muslims had been pushed to its limit. It was then that God decreed that those who had fought with the sword should be killed with the sword. God also decreed that, though the Muslims were just a few in number and weak, yet He was going to lend them His support because they had been transgressed against and He would have the disbelievers killed through their hand. Ensuing from this decree, the same few people—who had been considered worthless and abject, whom no one wanted to assist or support, and who had been severely oppressed and constrained by the disbelievers—came to be held in awe both in the east and the west. In this way, God showed to the world, by helping them, that Muslims indeed were subjected to wanton oppression. In short, look at any aspect and from any angle and see whether the Muslims of that time were the oppressed party or not? If God had not given permission to those few weak Muslims to raise their sword to defend their lives and had not permitted them to fight defensively even at that critical and dangerous juncture, should He have allowed them to be eliminated from the face of this earth? Under those circumstances, it was their right to defend themselves by any standards—religious or conventional. And yet, that has been the cause of criticism even to this day, and the bigoted and ignorant opponents refuse to forget. So now, do these people wish to renew these allegations and alienate people from Islam by advancing the concept of a bloodthirsty Mahdi? Look, the Holy Prophet sas, has clearly
stated vis-a-vis the Mahdi َ ی َ ض َ ع ُ ال ْ ح َ ر ْب َ that he would bring an end ی َ ض َ ع ُ ال ْ ح َ ر ْب to wars and that war would be an intellectual war.

In 1924-1926 (See “Dawatul Ameer”, “Invitation to Ahmadiyyat”, page 76), the 2nd Qadiani-Ahmadi Khalifa argued a religious war is only allowed in Ahmadiyya if Ahmadi’s are being forced to leave their religion. A religious war may be justified when there is interference in religion. But even when permitted, a religious war is not intended to force a people to give up their faith, nor is its purpose to desecrate or destroy places of worship, or to kill. The purpose of religious wars is to protect religion, to protect every religion, and to save from disgrace and destruction all places of worship, irrespective of the denomination to which they belong. Only such a religious war is permitted by Islam. Islam is a witness of other religions and their protector. Islam is no party to violence or cruelty or unfreedom. In short, the Jihad sanctioned by Islam is to make war against a people who prevent others by force from accepting Islam, or who wish to force people to deny Islam. It may be made against a people who kill others because of Islam. Only against such a people is the making of war permissible in Islam. Against any other people, Jihad is wrong and contrary to Islam. War not sanctioned by
these conditions may be a political war, a war between country and country or people and people. It may be a war between two Muslim peoples. But it will not be a religious war.

In 1947, via the famous Qadiani biography, “Life of Ahmad” by Dard (See page 762-766), Dard alleged that MGA said that via 22:39 (22:40 in the Kadiani Koran)(they include 2:190 (2:191 in the Kadiani Koran), permission to do “Jihad” was granted under special circumstances and did not extend over the whole future of Islam. It was limited in point of duration and related to the days when converts to Islam were butchered more mercilessly than sheep. After Hazrat Ali (ra) died, MGA alleges that Muslims violently killed people all around the world as they spread Islam (naozobillah). MGA alleged that Muslim saw killed Kafirs as a good deed.
