Intro
Dr. John Andrew Morrow wrote an amazing book about the possible origins of Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad). This book review will only focus on Fard‘s connections to Ahmadiyya (or the lack thereof), technically, we have concluded that Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) was an Alawite Shia and was deported to Syria, we also believe that he came to work in the Auto Industry in and around Detroit in roughly 1919-1923 (via the French Mandate) and was motivated by the depression and loss of jobs in and around Detroit and thus created his hateful ideology. The first major wave of Syrian immigrants arrived in the United States from Ottoman Syria in the period between 1889 and 1914 (see Khater, Akram Fouad (2005). “Becoming “Syrian” in America: A Global Geography of Ethnicity and Nation”. Diaspora: A Journal of Transnational Studies). This also happened in Mexico in the 1930’s. Lebanese diaspora refers to Lebanese migrants and their descendants who emigrated from Lebanon and now reside in other countries. There are more Lebanese living outside Lebanon than within the country (5.3 million citizens). The diaspora population consists of Christians, Muslims, Druze, and Jews. The Christians trace their origin to several waves of emigration, starting with the exodus that followed the 1860 Lebanon conflict in Ottoman empire. The largest Lebanese diaspora by far resides in Brazil, with between 5 and 7 million, followed by Colombia and Argentina, with about 1 to 3 million each. Going further back in time, in the Crimean War, a French-British-Ottoman alliance against Russia was signed on 12 March 1854. In another example of cooperation, in 1860, France later intervened in the Ottoman territory of Syria, with the agreement of the Ottoman Empire, with the objective to fulfill its mission to protect Christians in the Middle East, following massacres of Maronite Christians. At that time, France, led by Emperor Napoleon III, claimed to continue its ancient role as protector of Christians in the Ottoman Empire.
We also believe that Elijah Poole was an ex-Qadiani (an indigenous sheikh) from the Mufti Muhammad Sadiq era (1920-1923). There were many of these indigenous sheikh’s (see the story of Sheikh Ahmad Din, Saeed Akmal and Wali Akram). Nevertheless, Elijah Poole mixed Ahmadiyya views with Alawite Shia beliefs and invented the Nation of Islam after Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) left in 1933. Further, we believe that in the 1950’s, Eiljah Poole began lying about who Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) was and lied him being Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (a Lahori-Ahmadi). Finally, we see all the FBI reports on Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) as lies and concocted paperwork. However, I must mention that my research work is incomplete, since we don’t have copies of the “Al-Bayan” Arabic newspaper or the archives of the Final Call newspaper.
I have also discredited the work of Wallace Fard’s (aka Master Fard Muhammad typist/secretary (Burnsteen Sharrieff Muhammad). She was quiet for 50+ years and thus discredited. In fact, her husband (John Muhammad) was the brother of Elijah Poole, he created his own sect of NOI and Burnsteen Sharrieff Muhammad did not join and remained silent for the rest of her life.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________ Book review
On page 11, Dr. Morrow goes thru the “Syrian-theory” and explains how 90% of the Syrian’s who immigrated to the USA to work (which is a mystery, why and how did the Ottomans let them leave) were Christians. We understand that after 1918, the French Mandate took over Syria and this might have opened the flood gates of immigration to the USA. However, factually, Syrian immigration began in 1910, during Ottoman rule. Dr. Morrow doesn’t mention anything about Shia immigration, nor does he mention how the Alawite shias immigrated. Dr. Morrow doesn’t initially mention the opening of the Highland Park mosque in 1922 and how there as a shia imam (Khaleel Bizzy)(he mentions it later in the book) therein offering services. The construction work began in Jan of 1921 (See the Detroit Free Press, Tuesday, January 11, 1921). It was financed by Muhammad Karoub (spelled as Mohammet Karoub in the Detroit Free press), a rich Arab Real Estate mogul. Karoub employed architect Theodore Degenhardt to design the mosque. Sheikh Hassan Karoub has approved the design work and his brother Muhammad Karoub was paying 45,000 to buy the property. The Detroit Free Press alleges that there are 15,000 Muslims living in the immediate area and this mosque would serve there needs. These same Muslims hadn’t celebrated Eid or Juma at any mosque since they arrived in the USA. A few years after opening, the mosque was empty, Muslims were upset that Mufti Muhammad Sadiq was getting funding from Karoub and spreading his Kufr beliefs. The city of Highland Park also imposed taxes and thus forcibly shut the mosque down.
Nevertheless, Dr. Morrow mentions Mufti Muhammad Sadiq on page 12, he mentions the huge mistake by Karl Evanzz as he asserted that Noble Drew Ali studied under Mufti Muhammad Sadiq in the 1911-1913 era, which is impossible. Dr. Morrow mentions how in the USA, being North-African or Arab still constituted as “white” in USA government terminology. Syrians were considered white from 1910 to 1914, then “not white” in 1914 and again as “white” in 1924. Dr. Morrow also mentions how the US government passed the “Johnson-Reid immigration Act” in 1924. This act was a federal law that prevented immigration from Asia and set quotas on the number of immigrants from Eastern and Southern Europe. It also authorized the creation of the country’s first formal border control service, the U.S. Border Patrol, and established a “consular control system” that allowed entry only to those who first obtained a visa from a U.S. consulate abroad. On page13, Dr. Morrow concluded that if Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) was a Syrian, he was a unique one, which is totally plausible. In fact, since the 1970’s, the Alawite Shias have been in control of Syria and are receiving funding and weapons from Iran (via Russia). This proves that the French lost control of Syria-Lebanon in the 1970’s and the Russian’s stepped in.
On page 37, Dr. Morrow points out how Elijah Poole held Jewish positions on Jesus (as)’s birth being illegitimate and attributed them to Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad). However, this is a huge mistake, these beliefs came directly from the Ahmadiyya Movement and the utterances of MGA and thus prove that Elijah Poole was an ex-Qadiani.
On page 50, Dr. Morrow dedicates an entire chapter to the Ahmadiyya influence on Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad). Dr. Morrow alleges that Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) taught that Jesus (as) has died and this was perpetuated by Elijah Poole. However, this is incorrect, the true story is that Elijah Poole believed that Jesus (as) had died (via his Qadiani teachers) and he then attributed it to Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad). Elijah Poole also believed that Jesus (as) had a biological father (this is pure Lahori-Ahmadi theory, see the english commentary of Maulvi Muhammad Ali, 1917), in the history of Islam, no deviant sect of Islam ever held this view, not even the Alawite Shia. Elijah Poole also taught that Jesus (as) was stabbed to death (a unique story). Elijah Poole also taught the “swoon-theory”, which can be found in MGA’s “Jesus in India” (see page 58)(published posthumously in 1908, also mentioned extensively in the Moslem Sunrise (1921-1924) as well as in the works of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (whom MGA copied from). Dr. Morrow then explains (and contradicts himself) how Elijah Poole alleged that Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) told him that Jesus (as) had travelled to Kashmir and died therein. Dr. Morrow then shows an FBI file wherein Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) told the FBI that Jesus (as) was buried in Jerusalem. Thus proving (IMHO) that Elijah Poole was an ex-Qadiani who mixed “Alawite-Shia-ism” with Qadianism to develop his cult. Dr. Morrow agrees that these beliefs were all stolen from the Ahmadiyya Movement and via Elijah Poole. What Dr. Morrow doesn’t mention is how the Ahmadiyya Movement trained 100’s of indigenous sheikh’s who all went rogue and created their own cults (see the story of Wali Akram, Saeed Akmal and many more).
On page 51, Dr. Morrow presents 15:26 of the Quran (15:27 in the Qadiani Quran) and alleges that Ahmadi’s and modernist had purposely mistranslated this verse to mean that Allah created men from “black mud” (hama ‘ain). This was used by Elijah Poole to assert that Black men were the original men in the world. In Tafsir-ibn-Kathir, it is translated as : “And indeed, We created man from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud”. Again proving that most of the beliefs of Elijah Poole were stolen from Ahmadi Quran’s and thus the Nation of Islam was a sect of the Ahmadiyya Movement.
On page 52, Dr. Morrow explains how some Shia’s also believe (like Ahmadi’s) in “successive waves of human beings”, (i.e., there were multiple Adam‘s). The Nation of Islam believes that the first Adam (as) was black and the rest white. Dr. Morrow mentions how Elijah Poole was against Jihad (just like Ahmadi’s), see the case of Cassius Clay draft dodging in 1967 as a matter of his religion. Dr. Morrow makes a small mistake and asserts that Mufti Muhammad Sadiq was in the USA until 1925, he doesn’t know about the court proceedings vs. Mufti Muhammad Sadiq (in 1923), since the Mufti had married an “already” married woman, this was the reason he fled the country in 1923 and never returned (he left a baby behind in the USA and the UK).
At the bottom of page 52 and the top of page 53, Dr. Morrow mentions the work of Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman Bengali (which started in 1928). Dr. Morrow ignores how the only Ahmadiyya Maulvi in the USA from 1924 to 1928 was Maulvi Muhammad Yusuf and how he taught African-American’s Ahmadiyya teachings and didn’t care if they had their own beliefs. By 1934, Maulvi Muhammad Yusuf was caught stealing money and exploiting poor African-American’s which caused “The Great Ahmadiyya Schism of 1934-1936 in Cleveland and Pittsburgh”. Dr. Morrow also overlooks the lies that were told about the conversion rates to Ahmadiyya by African-Americans. Most of these people had no idea that by signing a form, they were becoming members of the Ahmadiyya Movement (Check out my master page which extensively shows the lies that have been told by Ahmadi leaders about their conversion rates). Continuing on page 53, Dr. Morrow explains how Elijah Poole presented Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) as the Messiah for Christians and Mahdi for Muslims (just like what Ahmadi’s believe about MGA). Dr. Morrow then explains how Elijah Poole lied (IMHO) in the 1970’s and began asserting that Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (a Lahori-Ahmadi) was Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad).
On page 54, Dr. Morrow dives deep into the idea that Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (a Lahori-Ahmadi) was Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad). Dr. Morrow quotes Knight (Blue eyed Devil)(and had previously quoted Fatimah Fanusie)(Abdul Khaalis is also quoted) as people who think Master Fard could be Muhammad Abdullah. IMHO, these are all lies, there is no evidence for it. Fatimah Fanusie’s PHD work remains unexplored.
On page 55, Dr. Morrow shows how Elijah Poole and W.D. Muhammad were lying about Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (a Lahori-Ahmadi) = Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad) in the 1970’s and desperately.
On page 56, Dr. Morrow explains how in the 1960’s, Muhammad Ali (aka Cassius Clay) demanded to meet with Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad and was shown Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (a Lahori-Ahmadi) instead. Dr. Morrow doesn’t know that the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s didn’t have a full english translation of the Quran and were most likely using the Lahori-Ahmadi version by Maulvi Muhammad Ali (1917). Furthermore, the english commentary by Maulvi Muhammad Ali could be easily bought worldwide from their book depot (aka mosque-temple) in the Woking. Furthermore, in 1924 (via the Moslem Sunrise), the Lahori-Ahmadi’s had bought an ad wherein they marketed their work in Germany and etc. (see page 73 and 78, April-1924). On page 78, The Lahori-Ahmadi’s have started a German magazine entitled, “Moslemische Revue” (Moslem Review in English), edited by Maulvi Sadr ud Din. His address is Gieschbrecht-Strasse 5, Charlottenberg, Berlin, Germany. On page 73, the death of Shaikh Rahmatullah (a super famous Lahori-Ahmadi) is mentioned, he is mentioned as sincere follower of MGA.
On page 57, Dr. Morrow begins discussing the idea that Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad was from India and spoke Pashto. He also quotes Clara Muhammad (the wife of Elijah Poole) and she says that Fard didn’t have a distinguishable accent.
On page 58, Dr. Morrow quotes a book by Rodnell P. Allen (Seventh child: A family memoir of Malcolm X, 1998) and alleges that this book quotes the FBI file on Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad and alleges that he was an Ahmadiyya missionary. Malcolm X is also discussed and it is alleged that he had heard of Ahmadiyya Movement before converting to the NOI via a mystery man named Abdul Hameed. It is alleged that in 1943, Malcolm X heard about Ahmadiyya while he was in Boston.
On page 59, Dr. Morrow alleges that an Ahmadi named Abdul Hameed would visit Malcolm X in jail. Dr. Morrow surmises that Fard, Elijah Poole and Noble Drew Ali were all connected to Ahmadiyya. Dr. Morrow shows how the NOI used the name “Shabazz”, which is popular in Pakistan and other urdu names. However, this is the influence of Ahmadiyya Maulvi’s like Muhammad Yusuf Khan who was running around the mid-west and charging for lessons on Islam.
On page 60, Dr. Morrow mentions how Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad named Elijah Poole as “Ghulam Ali”. Fard also named a brother of Elijah Poole as Kallat, which is a town in Lebanon.
On page 61, Dr. Morrow again quotes Rodnell P. Allen (1998) and how he asserted that everyone knew that Fard was a Pakistani, however, this seems to be a lie perpetuated by the NOI in the 1950’s. Dr. Morrow alleges that Fard spoke Arabic with an indian accent, which is weird since none of the people who ever met Fard had any expertise in Arabic to be able to point out such an issue. Paul Guthrie and his work on the NOI is also quoted. However, all of these issues prove only that Fard might have forgotten proper Arabic since he was out of the Arabic speaking world for 10+ years. Dr. Morrow then alleges that the word “Master”, which is used for Fard is from the Indian subcontinent, and Ahmadi’s use this for their Maulvi’s, however, this is not true, most Ahmadi’s use “Maulana” or “Murrabi”, and used to use “Maulvi”. There are some Ahmadi’s who are called “Master”, I saw this in Rabwah, and some were actual “Maulvi’s”.
Dr. Morrow also mentions how Free Masons and Shriners also use the phrase “Master”. Dr. Morrow mentions how Fard was arrested on 9-25-1933, just 2 blocks from the famous Ahmadiyya headquarter on Wabash Ave in Chicago. Dr. Morrow then quotes the FBI file on Fard from 1959, which asserts that Elijah Poole was an Ex-Qadiani and had been expelled for creating a hate group (the year is not given). The informant was a Qadiani, who alleged that Elijah Poole studied under Zafrullah Khan (this is impossible, since Zafrullah Khan was only in the USA for a few days in 1933). Sufi Muti-ur-Rahman Bengali is mentioned in the ROR of Sep-1933, he will be representing the Ahmadiyya Movement at a “Conference of Religions”, during Chicago’s Second World Fair, June-Nov-1933, Zafrullah Khan and Muhammad Yusuf Khan attended the event also. Dr. Morrow also agrees that it would have been impossible for Elijah Poole was a student of Zafrullah Khan, since his first trip to the USA was in 1933, at that point, Elijah Poole had already taken over and had his own organization. In reality, the teacher of Elijah Poole was Maulvi Muhammad Yusuf Khan.
On page 111, Dr. Morrow summarizes that he thinks that Fard mixed many heretical forms of Islam to create his own unique version.
From pages 116-131, Dr. Morrow totally debunks the idea that Muhammad Abdullah (Lahori-Ahmadi) =Wallace Fard (aka Master Fard Muhammad.
On pages 145-146, Dr. Morrow explains how a huge percentage of Syrian-Muslims in the Detroit area were Shias, he even mentions the famous “Highland Park Mosque”, and how it was Shia, Sunni and Ahmadi. In fact, the Ottoman Empire persecuted Shias, Christians and Druze and it seems that the US government made a deal to allow these Arabs to leave the Ottoman Empire from 1910 to 1914. The second wave from 1918–1924 was via the French Mandate in Syria/Lebanon. IMHO, Fard was part of this second wave of immigrant workers.
On page 149, he mentions Ahmadiyya and how the beliefs of Fard were totally against those of MGA.
He mentions Wali Akram and Sheikh Ahmad Din on pages 303 and 317.
