Intro
In 2026 (Jul), I was sent Mohamed Osman Salih’s 1976 University of Edinburgh doctoral dissertation which seems to discuss Tawaffa and Raf’a, in this document, this person alleged that Ka’b al-Ahbar was the Muslim who fabricated the idea that Eisa (as) never died and “taken” to Allah (naozobillah)(Mohamed Osman Salih’s is a total deviant, denies miracles and is not scholar and was always against classical Islam)(this was also confirmed by Brother Omar from Jeddah). However, if you look at the document, there is no reference and it says “perhaps” (see page 380). Furthermore, this person didn’t even try look this up in Al-Tabari and see how was quoted, which is the required homework.

Nevertheless, as of 7-11-26, I only found Ka’b al-Ahbar relating that Eisa (as) will be at the end of the ummah, which has noting controversial in it (See page 381). Again, most people don’t do complete research, only half, whatever suits their preconceived notions. In fact, MGA and Ahmadiyya literature has never quoted Ka’b al-Ahbar as the culprit who poisoned Abu Hurrarya (ra) and Ibn Abbas (ra) and made them fabricate stories about Eisa’s (as)(naozobillah) physical “taking” and physical return”.

It is important to note that on page 382, this document says that “sources other than Tabari” on Raf’a. That is hilarious! Page 382 also mentions the lies of Wahb ibn Munabbih, and I agree, everything that he said is Isra’iliyat, his view matches MGA’s view in 1891, i.e., that Eisa (as) died for a few hours and was revived, this was also erroneously supported by Imam Malik, Ibn Hazm and others like Sheikh Imran Hosein, Sheikh Asrar Rashid explained all of this recently too.

In 2000, in this thesis (See “Ibadi Tafsir with Special Reference to the Tafsirs of Hud al-Huwwarl and Sa”d ibn Ahmad al-Kindi” thesis by Sulaiman Ali Amer al-Shuaily, 2000), Ka’b Al-Ahbar was mentioned over 10 times, however, he never related any Israʼiliyyat about Eisa (as) and the cross and nothing about 4:158, 3:55 and all the common verses.

Chapter: Friday – Section 2

باب الجمعة – الفصل الثاني

Abu Huraira said:
I went out to at-Tur and met Ka’b al-Ahbar with whom I sat, he telling me about the Torah and I telling him about God’s Messenger. One of the things I told him was that God’s Messenger had said, “The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he was cast down [from paradise], on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died, on it the last hour will come, on Friday every beast is on the outlook from dawn to sunrise from fear of the last hour, but not jinn and men, and it contains a time at which no Muslim will pray and ask anything from God without His giving him it.” Ka’b said that was one day every year, but when I insisted that it was on every Friday Ka’b read the Torah and said that God’s Messenger had spoken the truth. Abu Huraira said: I met ‘Abdallah b. Salam and told him of my meeting with Ka’b al-Ahbar and of what I had told him about Friday, telling him that Ka’b had said that was one day every year. ‘Abdallah b. Salam said that Ka’b had lied, but when I told him that Ka’b afterwards read the Torah and said that it was every Friday he said that Ka’b had spoken the truth. ‘Abdallah b. Salam then said that he knew what time it was, and when I asked him to tell me about it and not keep it to himself he replied that it was at the very end of Friday. I asked how that could be when God’s Messenger had said, “No Muslim will pray in it . . . and he asked me if God’s Messenger had not said, “If anyone is seated waiting for the prayer he is engaged in the prayer until he observes it.” When I replied that that was so he said that that was how it came about. Malik, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi and Nasa’i transmitted it, and Ahmad transmitted it up to the statement that Ka’b had spoken the truth.
