Intro
In 1902, MGA declared himself as greater than Esa (as)(nauzobillah) (See Noah’s Ark, page 29). In the very next sentence, he declared himself to be the Khatam-ul-Khulafa and compared his finality in the Islamic system of prophethood to Esa (as)’s finality in the Jewish prophethood (literally 123,999 prophets were Jewish, 99%). He also called Esa (as) as the promised messiah for the Jews and himself (MGA) as the promised messiah for the Muslims. However, a year earlier in Khutbah ilhamiya, MGA was also calling himself the Khatamul Khulafa (See the ref in the below). See also the ROR of Oct-1943, which refers to Malfuzat. MGA was also claiming in Haqiqatul Wahy (1906-1907) that he was the only person in the entire Muslim ummah to be given the title of prophet. MGA was claiming to be Muhammad (Saw)(astagfarullah), and thus, MGA was claiming to be the FINAL prophet.

After MGA died, Barahin-i-Ahmadiyya Vol. 5 was quietly published in October of 1908. In that book, MGA again made the claim of Khatam-ul Khulafa, essentially MGA’s team of writers (mostly Noorudin) were arguing that MGA was the final prophet, since in this context, Khalifa means prophet (which is also used for Adam [as]). They even argued that since Esa (As) was the Khatam ul Khulafa of the Jewish prophets, similarly MGA was the Khatam ul Khulafa of the Muslims prophets. Razi ullah Noman, with #Ahmadianswers claims that MGA meant as the BEST, thus, he was calling Eisa (As) as the best of the prophets after Moses (as) and MGA was the best of the ulema after Muhammad (saw), however, this is a farce. This was also discussed by Brother Imtiaz, Dr. Izhar Khan and the Dawah Wise team on 9-23-23 and on the Dawah Wise youtube channel.

“””Among the arguments which prove that I am the Promised Messiah, there are some signs that are personal to the Promised Messiah. A major sign among them is that the Promised Messiah must appear in the latter days as set out in the Hadith:

It will be in the latter days when tribulations will abound and the age will be approaching its end.

There are two kinds of indications to prove that these are the last days in which the Messiah should appear.

The signs set out in the Qur’an and the Ahadith which indicate the approach of the Day of Judgement and which have been clearly fulfilled. As, for instance, the eclipse of the sun and the moon in the month of Ramadan which is indicated in the verse:

Al-Qiyamah, 75:10

Then there is the discarding of camels as a means of transportation, as is clearly indicated in the verse:

Al-Takwir, 81:5

And the multiplication of irrigation canals which is obvious from the verse:

Al-Infitar, 82:4

And the continuous falling of stars as indicated in:

Al-Infitar, 82:3

And the occurrence of famines and the spread of epidemics and the scarcity of rain as contained in:

Al-Infitar, 82:2

And a total eclipse of the sun; thus spreading darkness as stated in:

Al-Takwir, 81:2

And the moving of the mountains as is generally understood to be the meaning of the verse:

Al-Takwir, 81:4

And the rising of the fortunes of the people who are wild, lowly, and unacquainted with noble Islamic virtues, as is obvious from the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:6

And the multiplication of the means of communication and travel, whereby it will become easy for people to meet one another, which is an accepted interpretation of the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:8

And publication of books, pamphlets and letters in all countries, as indicated in:

Al- Takwir, 81:11

And the corruption of the inner condition of the divines, who are the stars of Islam, which is a clear purport of the verse:

Al- Takwir, 81:3

and the spread of innovations, errors, and all kinds of disobedience and vices, as indicated in the verse:

Al-Inshiqaq, 84:2

All these signs of the approach of the Day of Judgement have been manifested and the world is in the grip of a great revolution…

Then there is the verse in Surah Al-Mursalat which indicates that a great sign of the approach of the Day of Judgement is that someone should appear and with his coming the number of Messengers should be determined.

This means that the last Khalifah in the chain of successors in the Islamic dispensation, whose name is the Promised Messiah and the awaited Mahdi, shall make his appearance in the last days. The verse is:

Al-Mursalat 77:12

i.e., the time when number of the Messengers will be determined. This means that with the appearance of the last Khalifah, the number of Messengers which had been determined by Divine decree and had been hidden, shall become manifest. This verse also clearly shows that the Promised Messiah will be from among the Muslims.”””””

“””Overwhelmed by callousness, they ceaselessly fabricate absurd allegations against me. For instance, they say that prior to my claim to be the Promised Messiah, I had admitted in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya that Jesus, may peace be upon him, would appear. To this I would only say: O Ignorant ones! Why do you ruin your afterlife? May I ask that while making this pronouncement, where did I write that my statement was based on divine revelation, or that I possessed knowledge of the unseen? I held the same belief as you did, until God drew me away from it and
repeatedly impressed upon me that I am the Promised Messiah and that Jesus is dead. This is indeed why, in complete simplicity, I wrote in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya that Jesus, the Hadrat Masih
[ Jesus] would come again. However, when God revealed to me the real truth, I disavowed this belief; but I did not abandon this commonly held creed until perfect conviction overpowered my
heart and enlightened me to the brim. What is more, I made the above-mentioned statement despite the fact that in the same Barahin I had been called ‘Isa and named Khatamul-Khulafa’
[the Seal of the Successors] and declared to be the one who was to break the Cross. Also, I was told that the Holy Quran and the Hadith contain the tidings of my advent, and that I am the one to whom the following verse refers:

He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religionof truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions (Surah as-Saff, 61:09, 61:10).

Divine wisdom, however, caused this revelation, which was recorded in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya in unambiguous terms, to remain hidden from my eyes. Therefore, despite the fact that I had been clearly and categorically declared to be the Promised Messiah in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, it was due to this obliviousness that had been imposed upon my heart that I set out in Barahine-Ahmadiyya the belief regarding the second coming of Hadrat ‘Isa. This is, therefore, a proof of my complete innocence and obliviousness that while divine revelation recorded in Barahine- Ahmadiyya accorded me the status of Promised Messiah, yet I wrote down this customarily held belief in the Barahin. I personally am amazed at how, despite the manifestly clear revelation in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya that declared me to be the Promised Messiah, I wrote down the customarily held creed in this very Book.

Then, for as many as twelve years, which is quite a lengthy period of time, I remained absolutely unmindful and unaware of the fact that God had so emphatically declared me to be the Promised Messiah in Barahin; I continued to hold the traditional belief regarding the second coming of Hadrat ‘Isa. Then, after as many as twelve years had passed, the time finally came for the reality
of the matter to be made clear to me and Divine revelations began repeatedly to apprise me of the fact that I indeed am the Promised Messiah.””””

“””For as long as you do not believe in the death of Jesus you will stand in defiance of both the Quran and Sunnah. I do not deny the greatness of Jesus, peace be upon him, despite the fact that I have been informed by God that the Messiah of Muhammad[sa] occupies a higher status than the Messiah of Moses. Nevertheless, I hold the Messiah son of Mary, in high esteem, inasmuch as I am spiritually the Khaatam-ul-Khulafaa [the Seal of the Caliphs] in Islam, just as the Messiah son of Mary was the Khaatam-ul-Khulafaa of the Israelite dispensation. The Son of Mary was the Promised Messiah of the Mosaic dispensation and I am the Promised Messiah of the dispensation of Muhammad[sa]; so I honour greatly the one whose name I bear. Anyone who asserts that I do not revere the Messiah son of Mary is mischievous and a liar.”””

Quotes from Barahin-i-Ahmadiyya, Vol. 5, from the online english edition, page 348

“””God created Adam on the sixth day, Friday, at the time of ‘Asr. This is what is established by the Torah, Quran, and the Hadith. And God has ordained seven days for mankind, and, as against these days, one day of God spans a thousand years. It is inferred on this basis that the age of the world, starting from Adam, is seven thousand years, and the sixth millennium— which corresponds to the sixth day—is the day for the advent of the Second Adam. That is, it is destined that in the sixth millennium the spirit of righteousness would disappear from the world, and people would become extremely heedless and irreligious. Then will the Promised Messiah appear to re-establish man’s spiritual dispensation. And, like the first Adam, he will
appear at the end of the sixth millennium which is the sixth day of God. So has he appeared, and he is none other than the one who is proclaiming the truth through this writing at this time. My being named Adam here is meant to point out that the perfect individual of the genus man started with Adam and ended with Adam too, for the shape of this world is circular and the climax of a circle is it should end at the point from where it started. Thus, was it necessary to name the Khatamul-Khulafa’ [Seal of the Successors] as ‘Adam’. And for this very reason, just as Adam was born a twin, my birth is also twin; and just as Adam was born on a Friday, so was
I born on a Friday as well; and just as the angels raised objection about Adam, so did the revelation of Allah come down concerning me which is as follows:

قالوا ا تجعل فیھا من یفسد فیھا۔ قال انی اعلم ما لا تعلمون۔
[They said: What! Wilt thou place in it such as shall make mischief in it? He said: I know what you do not know].

And just as the command to prostrate for Adam was issued, so regarding me too, there is the prophecy in God’s revelation:

یَخِرُّون علی الاذقان سُجَّدًا ربّنا اغْفِرلنا اّنا كُنّا خاطئین۔
[They will fall down prostrate on their faces, supplicating: Lord, forgive us, we were in error].

“””Some similar prophecies can be found in past Scriptures with regard to Hadrat ‘Isa [Jesus], may peace be upon him, that say that the Jews would not accept him. It is written in the Gospels also, with reference to the same prophecies, ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.’ That is, he became the Khatamul-Anbiya’ of the Israelite Prophets. Similar to these prophecies is this prophecy for God says that the world accepted him not; yet I shall accept him and make his truth manifest with very powerful assaults. So it is necessary that the world should not come to an end until all these things have come to pass. And just as it is written in the Gospels that ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’ so does God say to me that though they reject you I will make you the Khatamul-Khulafa’. The divine revelations in this regard are contained in many passages, and it will be too lengthy to cite them all here.”””

“””The matter was clear enough, for just as ‘Isa appeared at the end of the Jewish line of Khilafat, and the Jews rejected him and refused to believe in him, so was it destined that a Khalifah would be born at the end of the Islamic line of Khilafat whom the Muslims would reject and renounce. This is why he will be called ‘Isa, for he would be Khatamul-Khulafa’ [the Seal of the Successors] and also for the fact that he would be rejected just as ‘Isa was rejected.”””

“””However, if ‘Isa, may peace be upon him, were to be weaned from the teaching of the Torah
and made an ummati, it would need to be explained as to whether bringing the same ‘Isa—who was the Khatamul-Khulafa’ [Seal of the Successors] of the Jewish Prophets—as the last Khatamul-Khulafa’ of the Muhammadan dispensation fulfils the purpose desired by wisdom of Allah Almighty……..

………..Meaning that, We sent this Messenger like the one who was sent to Pharaoh. Likewise, it was necessary that at the end of this dispensation its Khatamul-Khulafa’ should be the like of ‘Isa and appear fourteen centuries after ‘the like of Musa’, in the same way as ‘Isa, who was the last Khalifah of the Mosaic dispensation, appeared fourteen centuries after Musa.”””

“To not accept the promised messiah as Ahmad Nabi ullah and to call You (MGA) an Ummati is seen as an illiterate group. Moreover, it is (the equivalent of) calling his holiness (the prophet Muhammad PBUH) an Ummati who was the seal of messengers and seal of prophets. To add into an Ummati is the greatest kufr and kufr upon kufr!”

In Aenas Sadaqat (1921, Truth about the Split, see page 18), the son of MGA used the phraseology “Khatam-ul-Khulafa” as he argued that MGA was like Esa (as) was the FINAL prophet of that dispensation.
