Intro
In 1879, MGA and his team wrote a poem wherein it acknowledged the orbit of the sun and moon (See “Barahin-i-Ahmadiyya” V-1+2, page 20).
In roughly 1880-1882 (See Barahin-i-Ahmadiyya V-3 (See page 154), Mirza Ghulam Ahmad got an ilham/wahi wherein he alleged that via 41:53 (41:54 in the Kadiani Koran), and via the word “Al-Afaqee” (MGA translated it as corners), MGA’s message would spread to the corners of the Earth. Does this imply that MGA believed in flat Earth theory? MGA repeated this “corners of the Earth” many times across many books. However, per Ibn Kathir, the word “Al-Afaqee” means universe, not corners. Further, per Suyuti the word “Al-Afaqee” means “horizons”, which is also used by Quran.com. Lastly, in the Bible, the corners of the Earth were discussed (See Isaiah 11:12 and Revelation 7:1).
In 1891, MGA and his team argued against the Bible Matthew 24:29, they argued that it was nonsensical for the stars to fall to Earth, since Earth has an Orbit (See “Three Questions by a Christian and their Answers”, see page -50).
In 1894, MGA and his team argued that it is a necessary condition for both lunar and solar eclipses that the moon and the sun return to their customary positions and resume their primary orbits—and this implication is contained within the defining characteristics of both eclipses (See “The Light of Truth, Parts 1 & 2, Online English translation of Nurul-Haqq, see page 349).
In 1896, MGA and his team argued that via 36:40 of the Quran (36:41 in the Kadiani Koran), the sun and moon travel in an orbit (See “Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam”, online English edition, page 89).
In 1906-1907, MGA was arguing about ranks that are achievable by humans and how they are limited by 21:33 of the Quran (21:34 in the Kadiani Koran)(See “Haqiqatul Wahi, online English edition, page 35).
In 1908, MGA and his team of writers quoted 57:2 of the Quran (57:3 of the Kadiani Koran) and 25:2 (25:3 of the Kadiani Koran) and argued that the moon and sun run in an orbit. MGA never discussed the movements of the Earth (See Chashma-e-Ma‘rifat, Ruhani Khaza’in, Vol. 23, pp. 17-1, via Essence of Islam, V-1, page 116).
In 1909 via “Nuzul ul Maseeh“, MGA used the phrase “corners of the Earth” many times.
In 1917, in his famous English commentary on the Quran, Maulvi Muhammad Ali translated “Al-Afaqee” as “remote regions”.
However, Allah told us in the Quran that he made the Earth like a bed (spread out):
13:3 (muda, spread out the Earth), 15:19 (mudadanaha, we spread it out), 2:22 (the Earth is a resting place), 20:53 (the Earth is like a bed), 43:10 (the Earth is like a bed), 50:7 (mudadanaha), 78:6 (Mihada, like a bed), 79:30 (dahaha, spread out, some have said like an egg), 51:48 (farashnaha, spread it out), 88:20 (sotihat, spread out).
—39:5 (The Arabic for “He rolls” (Yukawwir / يُكَوِّرُ ) is derived from the Arabic word for “ball” (kurah / كرة ). This verse clearly informs us that the earth is round. Since the Earth is not exactly round
Verses quoted, 13:3 (13:4 in the Kadiani Koran), 15:19 (15:20 in the Kadiani Koran), 2:22 (2:23 in the Kadiani Koran), 20:53 (20:54 in the Kadiani Koran), 43:10 (43:11 in the Kadiani Koran), 50:7 (50:8 in the Kadiani Koran), 78:6 (78:7 in the Kadiani Koran), 79:30 (79:31 in the Kadiani Koran), 51:48 (51:49 in the Kadiani Koran), 88:20 (88:21 in the Kadiani Koran). 39:5 (39:6 in the Kadiani Koran).
There are many hadith on this too.
Lastly, it should be noted that the Quran talks about the canopy (Saqo mafuda) which covers Earth, see 21:32 (21:33 in the Kadiani Koran), 2:22 (2:23 in the Kadiani Koran), 22:65 (22:66 in the Kadiani Koran), 40:64 (binnaaaa-un)(40:65 in the Kadiani Koran), 52:5 (52:6 in the Kadiani Koran)(the word is Al-Maufuri), 7:171 (7:172 in the Kadian Koran)(the word is “Zul-latun”) and 79:28 (79:29 in the Kadiani Koran)(the phrase is “sum-ka-ha”).
