Intro
In the 1880’s, after MGA’s second marriage and his claim to receive Quranic revelations as his own, he also prophesied the birth of a son who would carry on his legacy. Ironically, he already had 2 fully grown adult sons, who he barely he even spoke to, he even boycotted their funeral. Nevertheless, in the early part of 1886, he publicized the prophecy, MGA had said that this prophecy would be fulfilled in one pregnancy (see ref in the below). A few months later, a girl was born to him, she ended up dying of cholera just 5 years later, MGA had published an announcement just a week before her birth wherein he totally backpeddled, he assume that the girl as already born in MGA’s house and he was now egregiously lying. What’s interesting here is that MGA had guaranteed a son from that pregnancy, he was now walking-back that prediction. In 1887, Bashir-1 was born, MGA began to celebrate.

Per Ahmadiyya records, Bashir-1 was born on August 7th, 1887, the very next day, MGA’s announcement of August 8th, 1887 was published, in this announcement, MGA claimed that Bashir-1 was the promised son, unequivocally. On July 15, 1888, MGA published an announcement wherein he stated that he would be bestowed another son (in addition to the Promised Son) whose name would be Mahmud. In November of 1888, Bashir-1 dies and MGA writes the famous “Green Announcement” wherein he argues that prophets makes mistakes in figuring out their ilham’s all the time, ironically, MGA hadn’t claimed propehthood at this point in time. In January of 1889, Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad is born. MGA then goes quiet on this prophecy until 1897 in Anjam e Athim, wherein he seems to indicate that Mirza Mubarak Ahmad is the Musleh Maud, since he has turned 3 sons into 4. The same arguments are given in Tiryaq ul Qulub which was written in 1899 and published in 1902, in the 1950’s, the Lahori-Ahmadi’s would point this out emphatically, whereas the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s have refused to even comment. MGA went silent again until 1907, when Mirza Mubarak Ahmad died (at age 7-8 years old). At that point, MGA claimed that his God would given him another son in-place of Mirza Mubarak Ahmad. After MGA died, in June-July of 1908, MGA’s son, Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad writes in his magazine that the “Promised-Son” doesn’t have to necessarily be a biological son of MGA. After Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad became Khalifa (march 1914), his writers and editors began to write articles in the English ROR claiming that Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad was the Musleh Maud. Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad remained quiet however. The Lahori-Ahmadi’s seem to have also wrote about the “Promised Son” prophecy in 1914-1915 via their leader, Muhammad Ali, this book is still missing.
Qazi Yar Muhammad also claimed that he was Musleh e Maoud or Fazl Omer. He also challenged a Mubahila to Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmoud in 1919 -1920. that he would be a liar if he suffered something wrong during one year. He also claimed that Mirza ghulam made a mistake while interpreting this revelation of Masleh Maoud.

In 1943, MGA’s widow was claiming that the Musleh Maud hadn’t been born yet.

In January of 1944, during WW-2, Mirza Basheer ud Din finally made the public claim of Musleh Maud, . This went un-challenged by Muhammad Ali and the Lahori-Ahmadi’s, in other words, they never responded to it. Later on, he called special meetings of the Community to re affirm this fact (see Al-Fazl, 1st February, 1944 also via “Truth Prevails” by Qazi Muhammad Nazeer). He made the claim of #muslehmaud at Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Sahib’s bungalow, situated at Temple Road, Lahore. After that, he gave a speech in the Jalsa at Masjid Aqsa, Qadian. Speeches by the Khalifa were then held in the following places: Hoshiarpur: on February 20, 1944, Lahore: on March 12, 1944, Ludhiana: on March 23, 1944 and Delhi: on April 16, 1944. Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad said in 1944, as he claimed to be the Musleh Maud, that virgins were waiting 1900 years for his arrival (See ROR of March-1944), he even quote the Bible, Matthew-25:1-13. The 2nd Khalifa also claimed to be like MGA (Masil-i-Masih) and zilli maseeh (See ROR of March-1944).

About 1000 miles away, the battle of Imphal was raging, it was unclear as to who would win. The Japanese had their eye on India. By mid-1944, the Allied air forces enjoyed undisputed air supremacy over Burma. The last major effort by the Japanese Army Air Force had been over the Arakan in February and March, when they had suffered severe losses. During the Imphal and Kohima battles, they were able to make barely half a dozen significant raids. 20 years later, in 1965, A few months before Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad died, and 10+ years after Muhammad Ali had died, the Lahori-Ahmadi’s finally responded in “Truth Triumphs” by Mumtaz Ahmad Faruqi. They exposed the suffering  and mental anguish of Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad, which lasted 10-15 years before his death. They proved how he was not the Musleh Maud and how the prophecy either died with Mirza Mubarak Ahmad, or was mis-interpreted. However, the appendix has been deleted by the Lahori-Ahmadi’s, since it was embarrassing. About a year later, the Qadiani-Ahmadi’s responded with “Truth Prevails”, which was ordered by Mirza Nasir Ahmad via Qazi Muhammad Nazeer, it was published on 10-4-1966 (See page xiv).

>Letter No. 4

……………………………………………………………………………………………

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious,

We praise and pray for His Messenger, the most kind,

My master and respected brother Maulvi Nooruddin Sahib, Peace of Allah on you, Assalamu Alaikum, Rahmatullah Wa Barkatah, At this time, an advertisement is sent to your kind attention regarding the elimination of illusions of opponents. Because you are the claimant of Tashabba Farooqi(Resemblance to Omar Farooq) and this humble person has an extremely good opinion of you and considers you a wellwisher and a friend, that’s why my attention remains towards you. (As such) My heart desires that I should share with my friends the blessings of my glorious God, and get the reward of (publicly) expressing of blessings as per (12 وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثُ (الضحی

So, today I am telling you as well, my sincere friend, about an incident of a prophecy.

Perhaps it has been four months since it was revealed to this humble person that a son, all-powerful, perfect in outward appearance and inner qualities, will be bestowed to you. His name will be Bashir. So, until now, I had only assumed that perhaps that blessed child will be from the existing wife (Nusrat Jahan). Now, however, most of the revelations are happening in the matter that (indicate that) soon you will have to do another marriage and it has been decreed in the court of Allah that you will be given a wife of pious desposition and good character, (and) she will bear children. The surprising thing about this is that when this revelation took place, four fruits were given to me in the state of a dream, three of them were mango fruits. But one fruit was green and very big. It was not like the fruits of this world. Even if this (part) is not revelation,(rather a dream) at the moment, but it has been implanted in my heart that the fruit which is not from among the fruits of this world, is the blessed boy because there is no doubt that the fruits mean children and while on the one hand, the glad tiding of a pious wife has been given and at the same time a dream was shown with four fruits of which one fruit is of a different form, so this is what is understood. And Allah knows best

In recent days, two people had sought to arrange a new marriage(for me). But when Istikharah was done about them, the answer was given(by Allah) about one woman that her destiny is humiliation, neediness and dishonor and she is not worthy to be your wife. And about the other, it was indicated (by Allah) that she is not good looking. As if this was an indication of the fact that the glad tiding which has been given about the boy with good looks and good character, may be born from an appearance-wise pretty wife and (who is) also of a good character. And Allah knows best.

Now the opponents, blind of eyes, are objecting as to why a boy was not born this time? A friend has published advertisements in their rebuttal. But in my understanding, before the birth of this boy, it seems necessary that this third marriage should take place because there are signs of having children in this third marriage. Probably the time for this third marriage is near. Now let us see with whom the eternal will has destined its occurance. Revelations are happening frequently in this matter and there is a certain enthusiasm in the divine intention. (Arabic)And Allah does what He wills, and He has jurisdiction over all things.

Peace

Khaksar Ghulam Ahmad Afi Anhu

[Ref: Page 125, Ishtiharat-volume 1. Source: Alislam.org*: Ad dated September 1886]:*

“(They) do not observe that in the ad of 22nd March 1886, very clearly mentioned is the duration of nine years for the birth of the specific child and in the ad of 8th April 1886, there is no mention of any year or month and neither is it mentioned that the duration of nine years that was allocated earlier has been cancelled. Yes, there is a multi-faceted sentence in the ad which says that “Cannot exceed the duration of pregnancy” but how is it proven from just this sentence that duration of pregnancy means the remaining days of the current pregnancy? And no other duration is meant? If at the head of this sentence there was the word “This”, at least then there might have been a reason to object but when the revealed sentence does not have the word “This” (Which can specify a time) then for any reason making the meaning of this sentence as if it had “This” at its beginning, if it is not lack of faith and dishonesty, then what else is it? Wise person whose wisdom and understanding are not compromised and who has no bias or mischief masking his heart, he can understand that in the meaning of a multi-faceted sentence all possibilities should be kept in mind which are possible to be created by the sentence. Hence the above mentioned sentence i.e. “Will not exceed the duration of pregnancy” is a multi-faceted sentence the exact and correct interpretation of which is that which Mir Abbas Ali Shah Sahib Ludhianwi has done in his ad of 8th June 1886. i.e. that it cannot exceed the term of the promised pregnancy (Which is 9 years ) or the duration of (a) pregnancy term is promised (which according to physicians is two and a half years or a little more than that). If the intention was to keep it contained in the current pregnancy then the statement should have been that “Will absolutely not exceed the remaining days of this pregnancy” and that is why in that ad we had indicated that the above mentioned sentence is not specific to the current pregnancy”.

This is God’s grace and it appears strange in your eyes. We shall soon show you Our Signs in your own selves and also around you. Proof will
be established and the victory will be clear. Do they say: ‘We are a large party?’ All of them
will be routed and shall turn their backs. Even if people desert you I shall not desert you; if
people do not safeguard you, I shall safeguard you. I shall exhibit My flash and shall exalt you
as a demonstration of My Power. Peace on you, O Ibrahim [Abraham], We have chosen you

2 months later, another son is born to MGA. MGA was supposed to name him only as Mirza Mahmud Ahmad, per MGA’s only announcement on the topic, however, MGA names him as Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad. In 1944, during WW-2, he finally claims to be the Musleh Maud.

On 26 February 1893, his book Aina Kamalate islam was published, MGA repeated his prophesy of birth of Bashir Emmanuel-to be fulfilled soon. Mirza Mahmud was 4 years old at that time which means that MGAQ did not consider him for the title. His second son was also named Bashir Ahmad, he was born on April 20th.

“””I had a younger son whose name was Bashir [the First – J.D.S]. Allah the Almighty caused him to die while he was yet a suckling babe. Then Allah the Almighty said to me by way of revelation that, “We shall return him to you out of Our grace.” Similarly, the mother of this child saw in a vision that Bashir has come and says that I shall cling to you with great strength and shall not part from you quickly. After this revelation and vision Allah the Almighty bestowed upon me a second son. Thereupon, I knew that this is that same promised Bashir and that Allah the Almighty is true in His promise and thus, I gave this child the same name Bashir, and in his physical
body I see the silhouette of the first Bashir.”””

1897

By 1897 (in Anjam e Athim), MGA began to think that Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud is NOT the promised son, most likely because he is sick all the time and can barely see, read and write. He began asserting that Mirza Mubarak Ahmad was the son who would make 3 into 4 and thus be the Musleh Maud.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________1899-1902

MGA was quietly calling Mirza Mubarak Ahmad as most likely the Promised Son (See Tiryaq ul Qulub).

Tiryaq-e-Qulub (written in 1899, published in 1902), also see Mumtaz Ahmad Faruqi, Truth Triumphs, page 31.

“this prophecy of ‘increasing three into four’ was announced on 20th February, 1886, and after the birth of the three sons e.g., Mahmud, Bashir and Sharif, it was again mentioned in the Anjam-e-Athim and its Appedix, that as informed by God, the Promised Musleh (or reformer) who will increase three into four will now appear….”

In this booklet Maulana Muhammad Ali proved that none of the then living sons of MGA fulfilled the prophecy of being Muslih Mau‘uand the Musleh Maud would come at the end of the 300 years from 1908 and thus, would turn 3 into 4. In January of 1944, during WW-2, Mirza Basheer ud Din finally made the public claim of Musleh Maud. This went un-challenged by Muhammad Ali and the Lahori-Ahmadi’s, in other words, they never responded to it (see Al-Fazl, 1st February, 1944 also via “Truth Prevails” by Qazi Muhammad Nazeer). Later on, he called special meetings of the Community to re affirm this fact. These meetings were held in the following places: Hoshiarpur: on February 20, 1944, Lahore: on March 12, 1944, Ludhiana: on March 23, 1944 and Delhi: on April 16, 1944. Qadiani-Ahmadi sources then claim, in a conclusive argument for the Ahmadiyyah Anjuman-e-Isha‘at-e-Islam, Hadrat Khalifatul Masih II challenged Maulavi Muhammad ‘Ali to a prayer duel and also
added that Maulavi Sahib would never accept that challenge. (Furqan, Qadian, June 1944).

He made the claim of #muslehmaud at Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Sahib’s bungalow, situated at Temple Road, Lahore. After that, he gave a speech in the Jalsa at Masjid Aqsa, Qadian. After announcing the proclamation of Musleh-e-Maud at Masjid Aqsa, Qadian, another Jalsa took place in Hoshiarpur. The leader of the caravan of that Jalsa was Mir Muhammad Ishaq. Then, another Jalsa took place in Lahore and after that, our father passed away. The next Jalsa was in Ludhiana.

Abdul Mannan Umar (the youngest son of Noorudin), published in a periodical entitled ‘Furqan’ of May 1945, some notes of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (Maulvi Abdul Mannan was editor of the journal at the time). The sense of these notes was that the advent of the Muslih Mau’ud would take place thirty years after the date when Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I, gave a discourse to this effect. Presumably in his Dars-i-Quran. The notes were published subsequently to the declaration by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II, on the basis of a Revelation to him from God, the wording of this Revelation, in Arabic, was: “I am the Promised Messiah, his like and his Khalifa.” Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II took the Revelation to mean that he was the Muslih Mau’ud of this prophecy, which described him as gifted with the breath of a Messiah, in excellence and virtue, like the Promised Messiah himself.

There is an essay on the ROR of Aug-1945 entitled, “The Muslih-i-Mauood” and Our Duties”. In this essay Nizam-e-Nau discussed.

1960

Ahmadis were asked to attend the convention, close their businesses, illuminate their houses at night. Musleh-Maud sports tournament, chiefs planting trees & all local activities were part of the show to establish importance of the day.

Declaring 20th Feb a sacred and blessed ceremonious day, he launched a campaign to collect money in exchange of prayers. Paying 100% of Tereek-e-Jadid money before 20th ensured to get the name written in the prayer list to be presented to the Khalifa (see the 2nd scan).

A few months before Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad died, and 10+ years after Muhammad Ali had died, the Lahori-Ahmadi’s finally responded in “Truth Triumphs” by Mumtaz Ahmad Faruqi.

The Qadiani-Ahmadi’s responded with “Truth Prevails”, which was ordered by Mirza Nasir Ahmad via Qazi Muhammad Nazeer, it was published on 10-4-1966 (See page xiv).
