Intro
Professor Clement Lindley Wragge was a renowned astronomer of his time. He lived in England, but in 1908 was visiting India as part of his world tour during which he gave lectures on astronomy to very large audiences. In May 1908, he stayed in Lahore for a short period. There he gave a lecture which was well attended, especially by many highly placed English people. Mufti Mohammad Sadiq was also present and he met the professor after the lecture. He briefly explained to Professor Raig the proofs and arguments put forward by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in support of his claim to be the Promised Messiah of his time. Upon hearing these the Professor wished to meet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad straight away. Mufti Sahib sought first to arrange a time with Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who gave his permission; the meeting took place after Zuhr prayers on 12th May 1908 (a second meeting took place on May-18-1908, see the Moslem Sunrise of 2nd/3rd Quarter 1947 and Al-Hakam, May-30-1908). Mufti Mohammad Sadiq acted as the interpreter and the conversation was originally recorded in Urdu. The dialogues between the two are recorded in the Malfuzat-10 (online English edition), the discourses of Ghulam Ahmad. Some of his followers believe that Wragge had converted to Islam and stayed a Muslim until his death. Proof of his conversion is cited by Ahmadiyya Muslim scholars in the form of letters written to Mufti Muhammad Sadiq, a companion of Ghulam Ahmad, by Prof. Wragge after his meeting with Ghulam Ahmad at Lahore. However, more personal family records suggest that Wragge remained a theosophist up until his death in 1922.

He is mentioned in the ROR of July-1914 as having introduced Mr. A. Fraser Hill (see the history of Ahmadiyya in Australia) to the Ahmadi’s of Qadian. He is mentioned in the ROR Of April-1915, a direct quote of his, in this in terms of Ahmadiyya in Australia. The ROR of May-1938 quotes the Al-Hakam of May 30th, 1908.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________Why did Ahmadi’s lie and write that he converted to Ahmadiyya?

In typical Ahmadiyya pattern, Mufti Muhammad Sadiq claimed that Professor Clement Lindley Wragge converted to Ahmadiyya, Zafrullah Khan said the same. The family of the Professor ended up telling the world that he was a theosophist. Nevertheless, Ahmadiyya unofficial website people still claim that Wragge converted to Ahmadiyya in 1917. Per Zikr-e-Habib, Mufti Muhammad Sadiq claims that Wragge converted to Ahmadiyya while Sadiq was in England (1917).  However, this is a total lie.

Question: It appears from Christian belief that Adam fell from a higher state to a lower state whereas man progresses from low to high.

Answer: This is not our belief nor do we agree with it.

Question: It is written in the Bible that Adam or let it be said thus, the first human being, was born in Jehun Sehun and that that was his homeland. So then are the people in different parts
of the world such as America and Australia etc., the progeny of that Adam?

Answer: The Promised Messiah as said:

I do not believe this, nor do I follow the Torah in this matter that this world had its beginning six or seven thousand years ago with the birth of Adam, and that there was nothing before that as if God was idle. Nor do I propose that the entire human race which is present in different regions of the world at this time, is the progeny of that same last Adam. I believe that the human race was present even before this Adam as is evident from the words of the Holy Quran. God said that:

I am about to appoint a vicegerent in the earth (Surah al-Baqarah, 2:31).

Khalifah means ‘Successor’. From this it becomes clear that the creation existed even before Adam. Therefore, I cannot say if people of America and Australia etc. are from the progeny of
this last Adam or from the progeny of some other Adam. A saying of Hazrat Muhy-ud-Din ibn Arabi relates very much to your question. He writes [about a vision] that: ‘I went for Hajj and there I met a person who I thought was Adam. I asked him if he, indeed, was Adam? He replied, “Which Adam you are asking about? There have been thousands of Adams.”’

Question: Do you believe in evolution? Meaning, do you believe that man has evolved from an inferior state to a superior state? It kept advancing first from being a snake and scorpion
etc. to become a monkey and then evolved from the monkey to become a human being. Moreover, when did the soul come into existence?

Answer: The Promised Messiah as said: I do not believe that man was a monkey at some point in time, but then, gradually, its tail came off and it also lost the fur, and he became human through successive steps. This is a claim and the burden of proof lies upon its claimant. He should bring forth a monkey that should gradually evolve into a human being.

How can I believe in such unsubstantiated stories and fables? I do believe that there have been many Adams. What we observe every day in the prevailing circumstances, is that a human being is born from a human being. No one has ever seen a man born from a monkey nor a monkey born from a man. This is a fictional story. A species is always born from its own species. God has put His law right in front of our eyes: a donkey comes from a donkey, a horse from a horse, and a monkey from a monkey. If someone claims otherwise that a human being is born from a monkey as well, he should present the proof for his claim. To assert that it could have happened, means nothing. Conjecture is not enough………”””

In May of 1908, while in Lahore, MGA is questioned by Wragge about his belief about Adam (as) being the first human as described in the Bible. MGA affirms that he doesn’t believe in the Torah also, and says that God wasn’t idle in a rude way. MGA says the Earth is more than 6000-7000 years old. MGA says that the human race existed before this Adam (as). MGA also disagreed with evolution, humans evolving from monkeys (See Malfuzat-10, pages 545-557, Al-Hakam, vol. 12, no. 35, p. 4–7, dated 30 May 1908).
