Intro
In 2023, a man maned Sharif Odeh is working as the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Kababir and most likely all of Egypt, Syria, Israel and Palestine. Most of the Odeh family that had converted has left by 2023.
Per Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh, the Odeh family had fled village of Ni’lin near Jerusalem (in the mid-1800’s). Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh, claims that his maternal grandfather was the first ever convert to Qadianism (in 1928), his paternal grandfather was the second, Sharif Odeh claims the same. They seem to have been displaced by the British Government and were given land in Kababir, at the same time, the Ahmadi Maulvi Jalal ud Din Shams had just fled Syria and seems to have also landed in Kababir. By 1928, the majority of the Odeh family had converted to Ahmadiyya.
By 1970, barely 600 people lived in the small area of Kababir. This mass conversion seems strange, since the Odeh family had moved from Bethlehem (technically a village of Ni’lin near Jerusalem)(See Ray Register’s Thesis of 1970). Jalal-ud-Din Shams had fled Syria in 1928 (wherein he was allegedly stabbed) and found a home in Kababir? It’s all very confusing and purposely so. In 1970, a man named Abdullah Odeh was working as the secretary of the Ahmadiyya Mosque in Kababir. He mentions another member of the Odeh family (Falah Al-Din Odeh) as working as the “headmaster” of the school, it’s the only private Muslim school in all of Israel in 1970 in the late 1960’s.
Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh was in Kababir in the early 1980’s and explains how the majority of the Odeh family had moved away islamic values. Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh moved to the UK in 1986 and began officially working for the Khalifa at the Arabic Affairs desk. By 1989, he famously quit Ahmadiyya. Both of his brothers (Ahmad and Salih, however, their father refused to quit Ahmadiyya) also quit as well as a few cousins like Ikrima Najami and Abu Muhammad (who apologized in 2022 for persecuting Hassan Odeh for 30 years).
In 1998, Mirza Tahir Ahmad was openly calling the entire jamaat at Kababir as rebellious an islamic, he also mentioned how the Ameer wasn’t listening to him or the Murrabi. This propelled Sharif Odeh to the top spot as the new Ameer. He listened so good that Mirza Tahir Ahmad added him to the Khilafat Committee.
In 2000, Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh (who is an ex-Ahmadi from Kababir, Haifa, Israel) wrote a book vs. Ahmadiyya. He was born in 1955, he is a second generation Ahmadi from Kababir. Another ex-Ahmadi (Ikrima Najami) also claims to be from the lineage.
After 2020, we have spotted Aymen Odeh, in a few instances. We have catalogued how some people from the Odeh family have famously left Ahmadiyya herein.

Haifa Trail | World’s most diverse urban trek | Section 14 – Kababir and Central Carmel – Multiculturalism on the Carmel
1—Rabwa St. Kababir | 178m above sea level
2—Al-Mahdi St.
This section of the trail passes through several interesting neighborhoods.
It starts on Ra’anan St. in Kababir, the location of the Mahmood Mosque. The mosque, with its two minarets a prominent landmark, is the heart of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community that characterizes the neighborhood. This is the only Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Israel and the mosque serves as the movement’s center in the Middle East.
The Ahmadiyya movement was founded in the Indian province of Punjab in 1899 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad after whom it was named. The movement espouses a new interpretation of the Quran and promotes tolerance between religions and peoples. Displayed on the mosque’s ground floor are the movement’s various publications including a version of the Quran in several languages, even Yiddish.
From the mosque walk in an easterly direction up Ra’anan St. and turn left into Jalal Ad-Din St. From here, turn right into Al-Mahdi St., named in honor of the founder of the Ahmadiyya movement. On this street, the low-rise buildings with fruit trees in the yards lend the neighborhood the aura of a village that is slightly reminiscent of Kababir’s past before it was incorporated into the Haifa metropolis.
There are two versions of the origin of the name “Kababir”. One is that it is the plural form of “kubar”, the caper plant, while the second relates it to the word “kubabara,” lime pits, found in the adjacent Wadi Amik, which were a source of income for the village residents.
From Al Mahdi St., turn right into Uddeh Nada St. heading down until it meets Ra’anan St. again. The trail now bears left going up Ra’anan St., but before continuing, it is worth taking a look at the neighborhood’s modest cemetery – turn right on Ra’anan St. in a downward direction. On the left, at number 57, is the small cemetery from which there is a beautiful view over Wadi Siah and the Mediterranean coastline.

A civil war erupts in Syria and the French government had asked Maulvi Jalal ud Din Shams to leave, however, he refused, they then forced him to leave on 3-9-1928, they demanded that he leave in 24 hours, which he did. Maulvi Jalal ud Din Shams was ordered by his Khalifa to move to Haifa, he arrived 8 days later on 3-17-1928. He ends up travelling directly to a small town area called Kababir. It seems that the British government purposely worked on getting the Muslims of Kababir to convert to Ahmadiyya en-masse. It was the Odeh family, many of them have left Ahmadiyya by 2019.

The 3rd Khalifa visits Sweden again, and Hassan meets him again. Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh tells us that this time he was able to spend more time with the 3rd Khalifa, and his sons, Mirza Anas Ahmad (who was working as private secretary for his father), Mirza Farid Ahmad and Mirza Luqman Ahmad. Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh tells us that Mirza Nasir Ahmad (and family+entourage) was staying at a really expensive and fancy hotel in Stockholm. Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh and his family went to go visit the 3rd Khalifa, during the course of this visit, they invited the 3rd Khalifa and his entourage to the house of Ahmad Odeh (Hassan Bin Mahmood Odeh’s brother). Ahmad was also the Ameer of Sweden at the time, by 1990, he quit Ahmadiyya altogether.
The July-Dec-1978 issue of the Muslim Sunrise was edited by Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir with Maulana Ata-Ullah Kaleem (who is the missionary-in-charge, USA) as the consulting editor. Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir’s home address is given for private letters. Mr. Abdullah Odeh of the Israel group of Ahmadi’s (was working as the secretary of the Ahmadiyya Mosque in Kababir, See Ray Register’s Thesis of 1970), seems to have written about the comments of Professor Bernard Lewis of Princeton University. Mirza Mubarak Ahmad’s speech at the 1977 Jalsa Salana at Rabwah is reproduced on the miracles of MGA. The hermaphrodite theory was also discussed. Maulana Ata-Ullah Kaleem also has an essay wherein he quotes “Marham-i-Eisa”, he also quoted 23:50 and the Yuz Asaf theory. Mian Muhammad Ibrahim has an essay about the growth of Islam in America.

The Jan-Apr-1980 edition of the Muslim Sunrise was edited by Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir only. It’s unclear as to who was the missionary-in-charge in the USA. Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir’s private address is given out for those who have questions about the subject matter, all questions about the business affairs of the Muslim Sunrise are addressed at 2141 Leroy Place, N.W., Washington D.C., at the American Fazl Mosque (which was the headquarters of the USA jamaat). In this editorial, Dr. Khalil Ahmad Nasir writes about the visit of the Pope to the USA in 1979 as well as Dr. Abdus Salam winning the Nobel Prize in 1979. A speech by Zafrullah Khan which was given in Oct-1979 at the University of Calgary (department of religious studies) is reproduced. Zafrullah Khan quotes 62:3 and alleges that Muhammad (Saw) was destined to come back into this world. There is also an essay by Abdullah A. Odeh (on Jihad)(from the Odeh family of Kababir, Haifa, Israel). An essay about the Shroud of Turin is also given. Ahmadiyya locations around the world are given: the Gambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Canada, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, Burma, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
