Intro
In 1895-1896, it seems that from India, a new edition of “Barlaam and Josaphat” was published by a man named Joseph Jacobs. You can read the book online herein. He seems to have connected Yuz Asaf with this book. MGA and his team of writers were silent about this.
In 1898, in “Raz e Haqiqat”, MGA and his team of writers stole the Yuz Asaf theory from “Shahzadah Yuz Asaf” by Mirza Safdar Ali (1896).
One of Ghulam Ahmad’s disciples, Khalifa Nur Din (or, Noor al-Din) of Jalalpur Jattan, District Gujrat, spoke to him about a tomb in Srinagar that was said to be the tomb of a prophet named Yuz Asaf. In “Raz e Haqiqat”, MGA and his team of writers published a letter from Maulvi Abdullah (who quit Ahmadiyya later and became a Bahai), in this letter, Maulvi Abdullah said that “Kamal-ud-Din WA Itmam ul Naimat”, has only fairytales and fake stories. He said this because that book said that Yuz Asaf was the son of a local king. A 3rd book was also quoted, it’s Ayn-ul-Hayat, however, in this book it is also written that Yuz Asaf was the son of a local king. MGA also mentioned Tarikh-i-Azami (History by Azam), which tells us that Yuz Asaf was the son of a local King, and thus, it is proven that MGA lied about all of these sources.
MGA even claimed that Yuz Asaf brought the Injeel to Kashmir and it had been found in Tibet (See Raz-e-Haqiqat, online english edition). In this same era, MGA claimed that his God told him that Eisa (as)=Yuz Asaf, he even called it a great sign of his (See Tiryaqul Qulub Rohani Khazain Vol-15 page, 145, in the below), i.e., discovering that Eisa (as)= Yuz Asaf.
4 years later, in an arabic only book, AL-HUDA WA-TABSIRATO LIMAN YARA (1902), MGA and his team wrote that Yuz Asaf brought the Injeel to Kashmir and if anyone was interested in seeing this data, they should consult, “Kamal-ud-Din WA Itmam ul Naimat”. During MGA’s life, “Asla Musaffa” in english as “Pure Honey” (currently available on the Lahori-Ahmadi website) was published and it clearly said that MGA’s God told him that Eisa (as) is buried in Yuz Asaf‘s grave (see the explanation by Shams ud Din, at the 1:15;21 mark). A similar explanation was given in Malfuzat (1960’s). The Malfuzat ref seems to correspond to 1902, which is the year wherein MGA forcefully argued that via 23:50, Eisa (As) was buried in the tomb of Yuz Asaf. 16 years later, the 2nd Khalifa and his companions told Walter (see page 93) that MGA’s god revealed to MGA that Eisa (as) was buried in Yuzasaf’s tomb. MGA also claimed that Khalifa Nur ud Din had 72 witnesses and even wrote their names who were supposedly testifying that Yuz Asaf= Eisa (as). In fact, in “Al-Huda Wa-Tabsirato Liman Yara”, MGA and his team of editors claimed that claimed that 100,000 people are witnesses that Yuz Asaf = Eisa (as). After MGA died in 1908, the Ahmadiyya Movement tried to separate the word Yuz and Asif.
Nowadays, Ahmadi’s are denying that MGA’s god led him to the “Yuz Asaf theory”. In 2021, the Shams ud Din challenge on Yuz Asaf left the #Qadianis speechless. We have also tracked all references to Yuz Asaf in the Review of Religions. John Rippon rips the Ahmadiyya belief that Esa (As) =Yuz Asaph and was buried in Kashmir.

Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din is a descendant of the the eighth Imam in Twelver Shia Islam – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din (also spelled Syed Naseer ud Din or Syed Nasr-ud Din) is a descendant of the the eighth Imam in Twelver Shia Islam, Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha. Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din came to Kashmir via the the Shia-invasion (see the Shah-Mir Dynasty) happened roughly in 1381-1561 (see the court case of 1770 as translated by Fida Hassnain). Nevertheless, during the Shah-Mir Dynasty, it seems that Syed Nasir ud Din came to Kasmir and died therein, he was also a Shia-sufi. The Shah Durrani empire took over next and ruled from roughly 1561 until 1751 the Mughal empire took over Kashmir and had a hardline policy towards the Shia’s. This was followed by the Shah Durrani empire. They wrote about the tomb of Syed Nasir ud Din and claimed it was also called “Yuz Asaf”. The Sikh’s took over in 1820 and didn’t give up Kashmir until 1947.
It seems that all the stories about Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din were total fabrications by Shia’s as they were trying to get their tombs saved from demolition during the reign of the Mughal empire. By claiming that this tomb was from the Hindu-Buddhist era, they were able to save it. Thus, the descendants of Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din were able to keep this housing complex in their control.
Read Reverend H.U. Weitbrecht letters on this topic, i.e., “The Truth About The Tomb of Yus Asaf known as Rauza Sahib Srinagar” and “The Srinagar tomb of Sayyad Nasr-ud-Din”. Check out my essay on Mandeism and Yuz Asaf.

In 1906, in the english Review of Religions (May edition, pages 185-188), Muhammad Ali quoted “Barlaam and Josaphat” as he wrote an essay about “A short sketch of the Ahmadiyya Movement”. This seems to be the first and only time that the Ahmadiyya Movement quoted “Barlaam and Josaphat”. In March of 1906, via “Chasma Masihi”, MGA mentions the story of Yuz Asaf. MGA claims that the injeel of Yuz Asaf is older than Jesus (as). MGA and his team seem to be quoting the famous “Barlaam and Josaphat”.

“But that these mysterious personages have been regarded by clergy and laity as veritable saints of the Church, there can be no doubt. Sir Henry Yule visited a church at Palermo dedicated “Divo Josaphat .” In 1571 the Doge Luigi Mocenigo presented to King Sebastian of Portugal a bone and part of the spine of St . Josaphat. When Spain seized Portugal in 1580 these treasures were removed by Antonio, the pretender to the Portuguese crown, and ultimately carried through the streets of Antwerp. On August 7, 1672, a great procession marched through the streets of Antwerp, carrying to the cloister of St. 1 Salvator the holy remains of St. Josaphat.””

Ahmadiyya sources tell us that in 1899, MGA and his team began writing the famous “Jesus in India” (it was published as incomplete book after MGA died in 1908). MGA published an announcement entitled, Al-Ishtihar al-Ansar (Announcement – the Helpers) on October 4, 1899 (See Mujadid-e-Azim, online english abridged version, page 835. However, in this announcement, MGA was telling the world that Khalifa Nur ud Din Jamooni had already went to Mohalla Khanyar, Srinagar, Kashmir and obtained the testimony of 556 ulema (see the Friday Sermon of Mirza Masroor Ahmad of 5-25-12 at the 33:28 to 35:19 mark, we have condensed this into a tik tok too)(see also Mujadid-e-Azim, online english abridged version. In 2012, Mirza Masroor said it was 560 ulema. Dard also mentions this announcement of 10-4-1899 (see pages 684-685). Dard claims that the expedition didn’t leave until 11-12-1899, thus contradicting the Lahori-Ahmadi’s.

“”Lions and goats will drink from a well and children will play with snakes and wolves will stop their attacks. This indicates that he will be born under the shadow of an empire whose work will be justice and justice. So these hadiths clearly and openly prove the praise of the English kingdom because that Christ was born under this kingdom and it is this kingdom which by its justice is gathering snakes together with children and there is such a peace that No one can oppress anyone. Therefore, I, who am the promised Messiah, had nothing to do with the kingdom of the earth, but it was certain that I would come from poverty and poverty. To remove this objection from the world that Islam was spread by the sword and not by heavenly signs because the coming of the promised Messiah was for the defeat of Christian ideas. Then, when Christ himself began to oppress and convert people to Islam by the sword and teach such teachings, then he will strengthen the objections of the Christians that they have about jihad against Islam. Nor will it drive them away. Therefore, it is necessary for the children of God, Christ and Mahdi, to spread the religion with heavenly signs so that those people who falsely
accused God’s religion of Islam will be ashamed. So for this reason I have been sent with signs and one of my biggest miracles is that I have proved the death of Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) through sensory evidence and given the address of his death place and grave. is so whoever will read my book Jesus in India from the beginning to the end. Be it a Muslim or a Christian or a Jew or an Aryan, it is impossible that after reading this book he will not be convinced that the idea of Christ’s ascension to heaven is nonsense, lies and slander. Therefore, this evidence is not limited to theoretical limits, but is a very clear and clear intuition, which is not only far from justice, but also far from human decency to deny.””

MGA and his team were seeking data on Yus Asaf in Madras in 1899 – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
MGA and his team of writers and editors were always actively working behind the scenes. MGA never wrote anything, he had other people write on his behalf, Noorudin would approve everything after his edits. On 11 June 1899, Mirza Ghulam Qadiani wrote a letter to his rich businessman mureed Seth Abdul Rehman Madrasi requesting him to provide information about Yuzasaf in Madras. Relevant portion of letter is posted. Remember, “Jesus in India” wasn’t published until after MGA died, however, the Yuz Asaf data was published in the ROR.

“””Some twenty to twenty-five minutes before the time of the (Fajr) Prayer, I saw in a dream as if I had purchased a piece of land for the purpose of converting it into a graveyard for our Jama‘at. I was told that its name would be Maqbarah Bahishti, meaning that whoever is buried there would be admitted to Paradise. Then I saw that some old gospels had been discovered in Kashmir which would break the cross. I proposed that some persons should go there and bring those
gospels so that a book could be written about them. Hearing this Maulavi Mubarak ‘Ali declared his readiness to go but requested that a place should be kept for him in the Maqbarah Bahishti. I said: Khalifah Nur-ud-Din should also be sent with him….
The Promised Messiah[as] continued: Sometime back I had planned that there should be a separate graveyard for our Jama‘at. God has now approved of my plan. Injil [Gospel] means good news. It would seem that God intends to manifest some great news from Kashmir and that the
person who would carry through this task would certainly enter Paradise.””””

—In the January edition, the title of an essay is “Jesus among the 10 lost tribes of the East”. However, the word Yuz Asaf isn’t used nor is it mentioned if Jesus traveled to India or not. Then same topic is repeated in the February edition and lots of Biblical verses are given. This article seems to have been written by Muhammad Ali.
—The May edition of the ROR reports that the Epiphany dated 4-11-1903 accused the ROR of being academically dishonest, this essay seems to be a response to that. The Al-Hilal magazine (arabic only) of Egypt also wrote that MGA was dishonest as he connected Yuz Asaf to Esa (As). Al-Hilal [meaning The Crescent in English] is a monthly Egyptian cultural and literature magazine. It was started in 1892 and seems to have been friends with the Ahmadi’s of Qadian. Coincidentally, it also covered the split in the Ahmadiyya movement in 1914. This essay was written by Maulvi Sher Ali and edited by Maulvi Muhammad Ali.
–The June-1903 edition continues on the essay of “Jesus among the 10 lost tribes of the East”, this time, they list quranic verses which they think related to Esa (as) traveling to Kashmir and dying there at the age of 125. This article seems to have been written by Muhammad Ali.
–The October 1903 edition continues on the article of “Jesus among the 10 lost tribes of the East” and this time mentions the “Marham-i-Esa”. This article seems to have been written by Muhammad Ali.
–In the November-1903 edition, an essay is written entitled “The Tomb of Jesus at Srinagar”, in this essay, Reverend H.U. Weitbrecht accuses Ahmadi’s of academic dishonesty and it is discussed in some detail. This essay was written by Maulvi Sher Ali and edited by Maulvi Muhammad Ali.

Reverend H.U. Weitbrecht is also discussed again in this article. Interestingly, Ikmal-ud-Din is quoted, which seems to be a shortened spelling of Kamal-ud-Din WA Itmam ul Naimat. This essay was written by Maulvi Sher Ali and edited by Maulvi Muhammad Ali. Tarikh-i-Azami is also quoted in this essay.
—In the June-1904 edition, “The Origin of the Afghan’s and Kashmiri’s” by Hafiz Abdul Ali, B.A.. In this essay, he goes at great lengths to connect Esa (as) and Jews to Kashmir. The tomb at Srinagar is also mentioned.

“‘Verses of the Holy Quran are also cited in support of the assertion that Jesus was obliged to take refuge in some other country. Especially, 23:52 (this is an error by the editor, it should be 23:50) is advanced as contained a plain reference to his flight. It runs as follows: “And we gave Son of Mary and his mother a refuge on a lofty place which was secure and watered with springs”. This is alleged is a clear description of Cashmere. It is further clear that the word awa used in this verse signifies the giving of refuge at the time of some great danger, and with the exception of crucifixtion no event of great misfortune or danger to Jesus is recorded in history.”””

After MGA died, via the publishing of Jesus in India, the Ahmadiyya Movement tried to separate the word Yuz and Asif – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
We all know how the Ahmadiyya Movement lied about the story of Yuz Asaf=Eisa (as) and the grave of Nasr ud Din. After MGA died, they attempted to separate the word Yuzasif and focused on the use of the word Asif (see “Jesus in India” search the word asif). In 1918, Ahmadi’s told Walter that MGA’s god revealed to him that Yuz Asaf= Eisa (As) – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
In 1913, Howard Arnold Walter travelled to Kashmir and inquired about the tomb of Yuz Asaf. In 1914, he wrote “Islam in Kashmir” in the Moslem World magazine. The ROR of Nov-1915 reviews his article that appeared in the “Young Men of India”. The ROR of Dec-1915 has an article by him entitled, “Devotional Readings in the Quran”. He was also conducting research on Ahmadiyya in this era. From 1916-1918, H. A. Walter seems to have written this in-depth biography of the Ahmadiyya Movement, he was in Qadian and spoke to the Khalifa and was advised in terms of the beliefs of MGA. It was published in roughly Oct-Nov of 1918 (See the preface, which signs off at 10-10-1918, Walter died just 3 weeks later). This book was edited Farquhar, who had written about the Ahmadiyya Movement in 1914-1915 and was published.
In this book, he tells the world that while he was in Mohallah Khan Yar in the summer of 1913. He visited the tomb (and seems like he didn’t read the research work on Weitbrecht) and asked many questions. He says that Muslims told him that this house (gravesite) was in possession of the Hindu’s/Buddhist’s until Shia Islam came via Bulbul Shah. Walter then writes that this is the tomb that MGA said was miraculously revealed to him. Walter also explained how Hindu temples were being destroyed in Kashmir. In the 1990’s, Mirza Tahir Ahmad began casting doubt on the Yuz Asaf theory, and thus, by 2021, Ahmadi’s are calling it mere conjecture by MGA.

It seems that on the 20th of May, 1934, the Khalifa sent his trusted advisor and in-house editor, Mufti Muhammad Sadiq to Kashmir on a mission to investigate. 2 years later, he published his findings in a book called, “Qabar-i-Masih” (1936).

In 1945, Maulvi Abdullah popped back into the story. He seems to have written a letter to Qadian wherein he stated that the letter which he wrote to MGA had been interpolated by MGA and his team of writers, he was a Bahai at this point and wanted to set the record straight (see all the scans in the below). Maulvi Abdullah said that he wrote this letter in response to an article by the Al-Furqan of 1944, wherein it was argued that generation after generation of Muslims believed Yuz Asaf= Eisa (as)(see Pious Spirit at the 47:56 mark). Nevertheless, Maulvi Abdullah says that the Khalifa never responded to his letter. However, in an Ahmadiyya newspaper, “The Furqan” of February 1946 (see page 40), (see Pious Spirit at the 36:25 mark), the Khalifa wrote that the denial of Maulvi Abdullah makes no difference in the case of Yuz Asaf = Eisa (as), many companions of MGA went on a fact finding expedition and also confirmed that Yuz Asaf = Eisa (as). The Khalifa continued that this knowledge {that Yuz Asaf = Eisa (as)} has been passes down through many generations of the families that live in Mohalla Khanyar. Thus, the 2nd Khalifa was claiming that MGA was wrong as he quoted Maulvi Abdullah’s letter in Raz-e-Haqiqat. Maulvi Abdullah goes on to state that the majority of the Muslims and ulema of Kashmir consider MGA to be a Kafir. At the end, Maulvi Abdullah seems to have been a rogue-Lahori-Ahmadi, he did eventually convert to Bahaism before he died. Maulvi Abdullah also says that the list of 72 witnesses was his work, and not that of Khalifa Nur ud Din, thus, proving that MGA and his team fabricated the expedition of Khalifa Nur ud Din, moreover, in those survey’s that were given out, it was never written that Eisa (as) was buried in Yuz Asaf’s grave, thus, destroying the Ahmadiyya position. Maulvi Abdullah also seems to have gotten 55 of the 72 to attest to the fact that they don’t believe that Yuz Asaf= Eisa (as) (see Pious Spirit at 22:04).

Mirza Tahir Ahmad told Ahmadi’s that Yuz Asaf might not be Eisa (as) – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
In 1996, Mirza Tahir Ahmad told Ahmadi’s that even if this grave is not that of Eisa (as), it makes no difference. Mirza Tahir Ahmad knew that MGA used 23:50 in terms of Yuz Asaf= Eisa (as), however, he chose to downplay that. This was never stated before him. Watch the full video here. This is in total contradiction with his father, the 2nd Khalifa, Mirza Basheer ud Din Mahmud Ahmad and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and their interpretations of 23:50 of the Quran.
Mirza Tahir Ahmad did this since he had heard that Suzanne Olsson (check out her facebook page) was planning on conducting DNA testing on the Yuz Asaf grave site. Mirza Tahir Ahmad got scared and began planning for a situation wherein “if” it was proven that the body and gravesite were less than 500 years old. You can listen to Suzanne Olsson herein explaining how she had gotten permits from the government of India, however, abruptly, it was all stopped. There is also a video of local Kashmiri’s who claim that Yuz Asaf came from Egypt and is not Eisa (As). You can watch the full video herein, its from Bj Witelus‘ youtube channel. Nowaday’s (2021), after the Shams ud Din challenge, Ahmadi’s are totally avoiding 23:50 and MGA’s assertions. Ahmadi‘s like Yahya Khan and Saleem Mir refuse to properly review MGA’s writings on this matter from Haqiqatul Wahy and many others places.

The billboard at the Yuz Asaf tomb in the Roza Bal, Srinagar, Kashmir, India – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
The billboard at the tomb of Yuz Asaf and Naseer ud Din Roza Bal, Srinagar, Kashmir, India specifically quotes the Quran, 4:157 and 4:158 and the Bible, Mark 16:19, which says, “””After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.”””.
Ghulam Nabi Ringhshal was the guardian of the Yuz Asaf tomb was interviewed by a random african-british researcher back in the 90’s, he interviewed Ghulam Nabi Ringhshal, you can see the short interview here (at the 1:08:15 mark). We have also archived it here at the Ahmadiyyafacthcheckblog youtube page (at the 6:00 mark). By 2017, the family that owns the shrine seems to be making good money, they seem to have added marble to the building structure. This video shows those details. The old billboard from 1997 can be seen here in this video, (at the 6:14 mark). The words could barely be read out.

The story
This is from Tareekh Ahmadiayat vol 3 page 152. This volume is dedicated only to the life and times of Moulvi Noor Uddin Behrvi. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THERE WERE 2 NOOR UDDINS IN AHMADIYYA HISTORY, THEY WERE BOTH EMPLOYED IN KASHMIR DERBAR AT THE SAME TIME. One was the Noor uddin who became the first successor in qadiani movement. The other one who this narration belong to KHALIFA NOOR UDDIN JAMOONI. If you have read the history of kashmir, this person was also employed in kashmir derbar. His picture is on alislam website.
This is how this Narration goes:
Title: DISCOVERY OF THE GRAVE OF HAZRAT EISA
“”””Khalifa Noor uddin Jamooni relates to us that “once I was walking through Mohala Khaniyar (Siri Nagar) that I saw an old man and an old woman (a couple) sitting at (beside) a qabar (grave). I asked them whose grave it was? They told me that it is of a Nabi Sahib. And this grave was famous as, grave of Yus Asif, Shehzada Nabi and peaghamber sahib. I asked them, “where how a Nabi could come here from”. They told me this Nabi, many hundreds year ago came from a very far land. I TOLD THIS TO MOULVI SAHIB (as you know that they were both in kashmir, noor uddin the first successor). And much time passed after this event (iss waqiya ko aik arsa guzar giya). After that, Moulvi sahib left his employment (at the death of ranbhir singh in 1885, many courtiers were laid of) and Moulvi Noor uddin came to qadian (to live). ONE DAY IN THE MAJLIS OF HAZRAT MASIH MAOUD (in a gathering WITH Mirza ghulam) where hazrat moulvi sahib was present, Hazrat masih maoud qouted an Ayat (the ayat in which rawah is mentioned) and said, it seems to me, and it is possible that Hazrat Eisa AS went towards a place like Kashmir (so mirza ghulam was not sure and had no idea at the time, so there was not wahi or ilham present from Allah SWT). On that hazrat Khalifa Awal related my rawaiyat (incident with the old couple as he had already told noor uddin the successor in the past). Hazoor called me (noor uddin jamooni) and ordered to INVESTIGATE AND RESEARCH about this grave.(to find out more about the grave).”””

Book Review—Jesus in Kashmir: The Lost Tomb, by Suzanne Olsson – ahmadiyyafactcheckblog
Suzanne Olsson tells us that uptil 1972, Shabzada Ghulam Mohid-ud-din was the caretaker, after him, Basharat Shaheem took over. By 1996, Muhammad Amin Ringshawl was the caretaker of the tomb. He clearly tells the world that Eisa (as) is not buried there. He was interviewed by a random african-british researcher back in the 90’s, he interviewed Ghulam Nabi Ringhshal, you can see the short interview here (at the 1:08:15 mark). We have also archived it here at the Ahmadiyyafacthcheckblog youtube page (at the 6:00 mark).
Suzanne Olsson supports the Ahmadiyya Movement wholeheartedly and see’s them as a better group of Muslims than 99% of Muslims in the world. She also shares the belief that Eisa (as)= Yuz Asaf. In 1996, author Laurence Gardner published ‘Bloodline of the Holy Grail’. Olsson realized that her family was mentioned in Gardner’s ‘Grail King’ charts (King Baldwin of Jerusalem, of the Baldwin-des Marets lineage) and contacted him. Gardner acknowledged her work and theories in his book, ‘The Magdalene Legacy’ (2005 edition, Harper-Collins Publishers, pp. 358-359, 360.)
Her story makes no sense, she claims that she arrived in Pakistan in 2001 and got into the Kashmir side of India. This really makes no sense. The attack of 9-11-2001 happened soon thereafter also. This is virtually impossible. Nevertheless, Ahmadiyya sources in 2004 claim that she was India and trying to get permits and etc. She also had started the The ‘DNA of God’ Project, which is based on the Genome Project through National Geographic DNA She explains in her book how she made several visits to Washington DC to discuss her Project with National Geographic and seek their support. She published her book in 2002 from Bangkok, Thaliand, and then a second edition appeared in 2005. A 3rd and 4th edition seems to have also appeared.
