Intro
By 2025, Ahmadiyya sources admit (video was removed by Ahmadiyya official sources) that there are barely 434 Qadiani-Ahmadi’s in the Stockholm, Sweden Jamaat (not all of Sweden), that is men, women and children (via the president of the Sweden jamaat). However, in this video, barely 30 kids can be seen and a few adults. The breakdown is as follows, 68 Ansar, 81 Khuddam, 131 Lajna, 29 Nasirat and 57 Atfal. Children under 7 are 62. However, his math is off, this equals, 428, not 434. Also in 2025, Majlis Ansarullah from Norway met with Mirza Masroor Ahmad in Tilford, UK.

Per Ahmadiyya sources, the earliest history of the Community in the country begins in 1956, during the Second Caliphate, when Maulvi Kamal Yousuf was appointed as the head of the mission in Sweden. The 2nd Khalifa seems to have arranged to open an ahmadi mission whilst on his tour of Europe in 1955. The Khalifa met Mr. Gunar Erickson, who had converted to Ahmadiyya, he is Swedish. Mr. Gunar Erickson is made an employee of the Ahmadiyya community with full benefits. He totally disappears after 1980.

It should be noted, in the 1955 english translation of the Quran (and minor commentary), Ahmadiyya scholars (Maulvi Sher Ali, a companion of MGA), Jinn were called “white-people” from Northern Europe, from the mountainous area (which can only be Finland, Norway and Sweden).

However, it was not until 1970 that the Community was first officially registered. Today, there are 3 mosques, one of which is the oldest in the country, and also a number of other Islamic centers, representing an estimated average of 1000 Ahmadi’s in the country. There are Ahmadiyya centers is Stockholm and Luleå, in which future mosques have been planned. By 1979, the Ahmadiyya Movement was claiming to have only 1 mission house and 1 mosque in the entire country.

From 2016, Pakistan-born Rizwan Ahmad Afzal who was previously an imam in Luleå, is the imam of the Mahmood Mosque. There is another fanatical Ahmadi, Agha Yahya Khan, who had a youtube channel and is quite active in Ahmadiyya circle in Sweden.

Ahmadi murrabi’s

Kamal Yousuf was directed by Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, an Ahmadi Muslim judge based at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, to open an Ahmadiyya mission in Scandinavia. Kamal Yousuf was appointed as the head of the movement in Sweden. Yousuf arrived in Gothenburg on June 14, 1956, before shortly moving to Stockholm. Another Ahmadi mullah, Maulvi Munir Ahmad sahib, was there since 1975.

In 2021, there are 3 purpose-built mosques, Mahmoodmoskén and Bait-Ul-Hamd, both are in Malmo, Sweden, the 3rd is the Nasir Mosque in Gothenburg. There are Ahmadiyya centers is Stockholm and Luleå, in which future mosques have been planned. There is another Ahmadiyya center/mission house in Kalmar, Sweden.

Starting in 1958, the Community published a religious magazine Activ Islam, “Active Islam”, edited by an early convert Gunnar H. Eriksson, who adopted the name Saif-ul-Islam Mahmud.

The publication was discontinued in 1972 and was revived in 1979.

The famous ex-Qadiani-Ahmadi and now rogue Ahmadi Tariq Chohan gets asylum from Pakistan and arrives and is thus a pioneer of the Sweden Jamaat of Qadiani-Ahmadi’s.

The Khalifa, Mirza Nasir Ahmad visits in again in 1975 to lay the foundation stone of the Nasir Mosque in Gothenburg, on September 27.

The Muslim Sunrise from Dec-1975 was edited/published by Mian Muhammad Ibrahim (a Qadiani-Ahmadi Maulvi) and from Dayton, Ohio. Khalil Ahmad Nasir has an essay wherein he discusses the “Fifth Spiritual Summit in NY in 1975″ and how Zafrullah Khan was invited to speak. An essay by Zafrullah Khan is also given. A speech by Bashir Ahmad Rafiq (head Maulvi on the Qadiani London temple, the Fazl mosque) is given which he gave in Copenhagen, Denmark (at the Ahmadiyya temple therein via an annual Ijtema). In this speech, he alleges that the first 3 Qadiani-Ahmadi Khalifa’s were predicted/prophesied, he quotes the famous speech at the 1956 Jalsa at Rabwah (Khilafat-i-Haqqa). The travels of Mirza Nasir Ahmad are presented, they also discuss the Nusrat Jehan Scheme Fraud. It is alleged that Mirza Nasir Ahmad laid the foundation stone of an Ahmadiyya temple mosque in Gottenburg, Sweden as part of the “Centenary Fund” on 9-27-1975. This “Centenary Fund” was launched at the 1973 Jalsa Salana at Rabwah. This was the first Ahmadiyya temple-mosque built (started) under the “Centenary Fund”. The 5th Khalifa visits Sweden for the first time. In this era, lots of Ahmadi asylum cases moved to Sweden (called educational visas).

There are about 300 Ahmadis in Malmö, and about 50 Ahmadis in Luleå. The majority of the residents are immigrants from Pakistan.
